Love the deck, inspired me to start working on my own version. I would highly suggest putting in Darksteel Plate, it's absolutely incredible. It's a bit pricy but worth it. Also maybe Shield of the Avatar.

Leonin Shikari? works perfectly with the Puresteel Paladin! +1

@Krapak I thought about sticking a Leonin Shikari in there, it definitely works really well with Puresteel Paladin, but without both of those cards out I'm the instant speed equip effects aren't that beneficial. Usually only have one mana open at any time for Path to Exile, Condemn, Brave the Elements, etc. With only four equipments with Equip 1, it doesn't have much synergy with any other cards. Thanks for the suggestion though!

No swords? They seem like auto-includes. I understand if you have budget concerns though. I also think Hero's Blade and Brimaz may have a home in this deck. Also, Steelshaper's Gift.

I'm a bit late to the party, but this is a pretty sweet deck and has given me a few ideas. I'm building an Aura/Exalted Voltron with either Giest of Saint Traft or Daxos of Meletis depending how competitive the game is. :)

I agree with mtgnooblord in that the swords are a good include if you can afford them. (I know I can't)

Dawn Charm would be a good way to either tap all your guys out to get damage through because you can Fog with it next turn, or save Kemba from removal, or stop some burn/edict/notnice spell.

Lastly, as much as I like Emeria, The Sky Ruin, I don't know if it's worth it coming in tapped, because I a few "games" to see how long it would take to get both Emeria and 7 Plains in play and the earliest I saw it all come together was around turn 16 - 17, and from what I can tell your deck will have won by turn 12 max.

Anyway, it's an excellent deck and I'd love to watch it played :) +1

Almost forgot, in 1v1 Orim's Chant is a better, more expensive Silence. :) :) :)

RaSkipper says... #8

Simplynew, Orim's Chant is getting put in there over Silence, hadn't seen that one before. Thanks!

It's true the odds of both needing Emeria and having seven plains out are slim. But every so often, you pop off your Stoneforge Mystic that got countered before and it's all worth it.

Not too worried about protecting creatures from damage as I get half a dozen more every turn anyway. Even other powerhouse creatures are expendable except for Kemba. I used to have Brave the Elements in here, but never really needed it that badly.

A couple people have mentioned the swords, and not taking price into the decision, they don't fit very well. I tried to keep the three-drops to a minimum since equip costs add up. They're great for protection, but pulling Sword of Fire and Ice while going against Ezuri would be heartbreaking. The hexproof suite has been much more useful for protection than the swords, and they cost a lot less to cast and equip.

Thanks for the interest all!

Lightning Greaves gives Shroud, not Hexproof, and therefore prevents you from equipping any more until it is removed.

Since the equip is (0), you can just pop it off to equip, but keep in mind this leaves an opening for your opponent to Murder, Doom Blade, etc.

Ajani, Caller of the Pride for all the cats ever and to pump Kemba.

RaSkipper says... #11

ockhamsrazor Indeed, that's partly why Leonin Shikari is there. When the Greaves are equipped, especially early game, I don't remove them unless they're tapped out. Happens pretty frequently.

b287213 I really thought about Caller of the Pride, one of the last considerations to get cut. It's not a creature so I can't equip it, and it's open season for removal. By the time I could pop it's ultimate, Kemba's ability has already netted me more cats than Ajani. And where Ajani pops once, Kemba pops once every turn. Thank you though!

You can replace Neurok Hoversail with Kitesail. Awesome deck,+1!

June 7, 2015 11:26 a.m.

RaSkipper says... #14

Thanks man! I like the Hoversail over the Kitesail or Cobbled Wings because it only costs 1 to bring out, the only cost that Puresteel Paladin won't help with. Thanks for the suggestion!

Nice deck, +1 ;)

What do you think about Glaring Spotlight?

Takes hexproof away from your opponents and doesn't need an activation cost.It also can be used a wincon to attack with your well protected and unblockable kittens ;)

Glaring Spotlight would be a devastating sideboard card against Geist decks. Thanks!

Love the deck, looks pretty dangerous but fun! :) You've clearly thought through a series of options so let's hope I add something new...

My initial thought was to include Enlightened Tutor which, in addition to finding your equipment, also adds utility to your enchantment based sideboard. You could also run a Sensei's Divining Top and then a couple of white fetches to get shuffle effects on top of your tutor effects, which would give you a little deck manipulation and card selection. Also you mentioned your mill match up, and I've taken to running an Aegis of the Gods in the sideboard (mill is prolific in my meta) which you can also find with Enlightened Tutor.

Given your heavy reliance upon artifacts you could run an Ethersworn Canonist in the sideboard (again, found by enlightened tutor) and shift gears to be more of a controlling deck in response to control decks? Might not be important in your meta but it's also a nusence for mill decks that often run Brain Freeze.

You could run a Flickerwisp to dodge removal and re-trigger both your Stoneforge Mystic and Mentor of the Meek, as well as just irritating your opponents and gaining tempo.

And finally, I'd consider a Fate Forgotten over Revoke Existence, just because it's an instant and so you can leave up mana on your opponents turn to catch them out. Probably a meta call. Any call for a Rest in Peace??

Hope that helps!

Bah, you're way ahead of my on the Aegis of the Gods haha. Ah well. :p

@someonecool46 Dang man, thanks! You have some great suggestions, here's my thoughts.

Enlightened Tutor is objectively a much better card than Steelshaper's Gift, but it's also five times the price. Same problem with Sensei's Divining Top, pricey. I'd easily replace my Mask of Memory with it if I had it. It honestly just comes down to waiting until I have the funds to obtain those cards.

Ethersworn Canonist I have not seen before, and would be incredible against any kind of counter/pump/control scenario. Trying to pump your attacking creature with a Titan's Strength and a Giant Growth? Nope! Easy purchase, replacing it with Luminarch Ascension. Many thanks!

Fate Forgotten is another winner, but I'll be swapping it out with Solemn Offering and keep the Revoke Existence. My reasoning behind this is that exiling the target over destroying it is a more important to me than instant over sorcery speed. Hadn't seen it before though, again, thanks!

And don't worry, you definitely added some new suggestions, appreciate it! I'm going to add the top and the tutor to my online list for testing and see how it goes. If the deck doesn't suffer from having twelve equipment spells over thirteen, I'll keep the top.

someonecool46 says... #21

RaSkipper - Haha you're welcome, glad I could help!

Completely understand about the price issue, but top would certainly be a decent upgrade if you can manage it. Don't forget that it'll work better with fetches though! Again, assuming you can find the cash for them.

Ethersworn Canonist is a great card in the Death and Taxes legacy decks, which are worth a gander considering they're essentially just white lock-out style decks that you could mould yours around. On that note, Phyrexian Revoker could be worth considering as a catch all to troublesome leaders or one of irritating cards for you (although you already have Runed Halo so probs not that important). If you really wanted to go down that route you could turn into more of a disrupting deck post board with cards like Aven Mindcensor, Spirit of the Labyrinth and Leonin Arbiter to really lock out tutor and fetch heavy decks. You could even run a Thalia, Guardian of Thraben if you fancied going for a long game, but that doesn't sound like an important match up given what you've mentioned.

Anyway, Glad I could make some sensible suggestions. :) GL & HF!

Cool deck man. I suggest Secluded Steppe in your land package and maybe True Believer to complement Aegis of the Gods in the sideboard.

I don't like the maindeck Revoke Existence and Fate Forgotten. I think Council's Judgment is better. I also think you could stand to run a little more targeted removal (not an edict). Silkwrap isn't bad, and neither is Oblivion Ring. Prison Term is good enough for the main. I also like Fiend Hunter and Banisher Priest.

Council's Judgment > Oblation. Judgment may be a sorcery but it removes True-Name Nemesis and doesnt give your opponent gas
