Phyrexian Metamorph etb copying Leonin Relic-Warder.
The ETB effect of Leonin Relic-Warder then goes on the stack, and you choose to exile itself b/c its still an artifact. Then the phyrexian relic-warder's leaves-the-battlefield ability returns itself to the battlefield. It essentially creates an infinite-flicker, which because of Soul Warden or Soul's Attendant's triggers, you gain infinite life.
If you have Ajani's Pridemate out, each one life gained by an ETB trigger puts a +1/+1 counter on him.

I cant belive you didn't go for a cawblade effect with this deck.

My CawBlade style deck is Sarkhan's Angry Birds. I want to blend these two shells though. That's my pet deck

Sword of War and Peace x4 would work very nicely, you have low mana cost i think you can afford it.
March 8, 2013 7:22 p.m.
MindAblaze says... #7
It's more a matter of monetarily affording it. I collected one of each of the new swords and I use them in my Angry Birds deck, but I don't plan to invest heavily in swords at this point. This deck is much more combo focused, but you're right. Some alternate win-cons would be good.

Is it just me or does it seem like Archangel of Thune is made for Soul Sisters?

Rhox Faithmender might be a good addition just to add in a lot more life gain with the Soul Warden

Rhox Faithmender is a great defensive stall card. I'd probably consider it as a sideboard card against aggro decks. What do you think?

I would replace the 3x Glacial Fortress with 3x Hallowed Fountain
Play tested this vs my Smallpox deck and a little bit of land destruction tears your deck apart with the Glacial Fortress slowing things down.

MindAblaze says... #12
You may be right about the Glacial Fortress . With all the LD Living Death decks run its probably not worth losing some speed to a land that does nothing but come in untapped under specific circumstances. I was hoping my fetches would guarantee I'd have a land that allows it to come in untapped but didn't consider the fact people would blow them up. Smallpox is a thing though. A damn good one.
It's not like I really need the two life I save. By turn 3 I could potentially have infinite life, barring any removal.

Other than that APPLE01DOJ what did you think?
Hard to say I guess if the deck couldn't do anything. Gotta sit on that Mana Leak for the Smallpox matchups it looks like.

well I really like your annoying enchantment setup. I Surgical Extraction ed your Detention Sphere to only find there was only 2 of them. Same thing with oblivion ring. and could even suggest +1 of 2 Journey to Nowhere .

MindAblaze says... #15
I like Journey to Nowhere as a card. I'm just not sure where it fits into my depth chart. Between the catch-all removals of O-Ring and D-Sphere and the super efficient Path to Exile I'm not sure if it would fit/be necessary. Maybe over my Mana Leak s? I'm not super-crazy about counterspells in the first place, I just can't deny the tempo Mana Leak gets you in the early game.

more Suture Priest in the board for the Splinter Twin matchup. I don't know about you, but it has a massive presence in my meta.

The deck is ridiculously consistent with so much interchangeability so I could see why. Surprisingly nobody here plays it though. The majority of our Modern meta is janky combo decks and aggro. Most of the time I'm stuck playing standard though. :(
But when I was looking at your deck I was thinking that too.
I'm contemplating going a little harder on the control side of things with this deck. We'll see. I'm stuck in this weird place where we mostly play multiplayer so I'm trying to balance competitive play and multiplayer strength. I guess Suture Priest would fit nicely for multiplayer too...I'll keep that in mind and bring some more along.

if multi player and control is your thing... Grand Abolisher and Loxodon Gatekeeper and Ghostly Prison

I have been looking for copies of Grand Abolisher , and cards like Ghostly Prison and Loxodon Gatekeeper tend to get me killed in our multiplayer matches but I'll add them to my maybeboard.
September 20, 2013 10:44 a.m.
can you please explain to me the utter complexity of your Mana setup?? i just don't understand running fetch lands that do not match up with your colors. why not just use evolving wilds instead of arid mesa? and have like 4 islands in your deck?
September 25, 2013 12:06 p.m.
MindAblaze says... #21
The Zendikar fetches they can pull anything with the subtype plains, swamps or islands. The shocks I run are plains islands so I have access to my Hallowed Fountain at all times.
Terramorphic Expanse and Evolving Wilds aren't fast enough for competitive modern. You need your lands to come in untapped to stay on tempo.

I think u should add Aurelia,:Assemble the Legion, Akroma's Memorial, Avacyn, and/or Angelic Skirmisher
October 22, 2013 5:23 p.m.
MindAblaze says... #24
I had considered an Assemble the Legion
but I don't know if I can make a case for the others. They're too expensive for what I'm trying to do in this deck.
I have a feeling even Assemble the Legion would be too slow, what would you take out and why is AtL a better choice?
October 22, 2013 6:07 p.m.
look at Squadron Hawk for this build in stead of Serra Ascendant if it bothers you that much.
