Description

Janky devotion deck that I made around Mirror March + Reverent Hoplite . I play this on MTG:A Historic ranked and on paper when I want to meme around. The deck would better if Mirror March was cut and maybe swapped for a third The Birth of Meletis , but then we'd lose the core joke of the deck. Both the name and the theme of the deck are a reference to a Finnish Folk Metal band Turisas's song The March Of The Varangian Guard. Suggestions are welcome.

Strategy:

It's not uncommon to have +10 devotion with this deck, so Reverent Hoplite is going to make a huge amount of tokens, that can win you the game just by themselves even if you don't have Corpse Knight + Mirror March on the table.

Sideboard:

This is still a bit WIP.

  • Settle the Wreckage against aggressive creature based decks.
  • On paper I have 1x Erebos, God of the Dead , as Soul Warden and life gain decks in general kinda hard counter this. It's also good card draw as you usually have plenty of life to spare.
  • 1x Thassa, Deep-Dwelling when playing against discard/mill so that we can still fetch for it if one hits the yard.
  • Sigrid, God-Favored - This can be really good against midrange, and it also gives you a devotion raising body on the board too. I'm thinking about mainboarding her, but I need to play around with the deck more.
