To be featured in the Bang for your Buck series, the mid-price has to be under $50. It's not a 'remake' in the sense that they take an expensive deck and make a budget version out of it: rather, they take a budget deck, and offer tips into how it can be improved.
The ensuing discussion/comments are usually pretty helpful too.

Oh, and thanks HellCloud! Though I'm not sure what there is to congratulate, I just said "Help!" and they responded ;-).

Okay I am an idiot and didnt even see that the original decks were allready budget decks so im sorry about that but still i thing its great that they will give you tips on you're deck and yet again im sorry for not actualy spending any time actualy prof reading my comment :p (And i'm sure that by the countless grammar mistakes I have made you have figured out that english is not my native language and on top of that im dyslexic so im sorry if I made you're eyes bleed when reading my comments).

No worries man, I hope I didn't come across as curt: I was just explaining to Formortiis the remake/budget deal =).
June 26, 2013 4:58 p.m.
Absolutly no problem dude, I dont mind at all and i cant wait to see what tips they will give you for you're deck(I realy dont know why but im quite exited about it and i will ask them if they can help me on a budget version of my B/U/G Zombies aggro that im currently working on).

I think Shimian Specter
would be a great sideboard plan in the same way you use Mirko Vosk.
This is exactly the kind of deck I'm working on for modern. Do you think mill works better than a discard plan would?
July 12, 2013 12:22 a.m.
Hmm, discard is much more efficient at removing resources early on (i.e., denying opponents' their starting hand), whereas milling seems more effective later on (i.e., after you've made them discard all cards in hand, you're better off milling). So, you might be onto something re: adding some discard, instead of so much removal.
I love Shimian Specter , but I have had a hard time keeping him alive (notice that, for an extra CMC, Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker has a 2 more toughness, putting him well outside the range of many burn spells). However, discard and Shimian Specter don't work well together (for obvious reasons =P).
Thanks for the thought, I'll post back when I test!

Yeah, that's my problem too. I'm thinking hand disruption like Duress for gettin removal, then killing off blockers and swinging in. More Lobotomy than Blightning I guess.
Could you have a look at my deck Robust Harvest and tell me what you think? I'm at a loss, so much of my testing ends in death...(Soul Sisters, Affinity, RDW, I can best Tron though...)
July 12, 2013 1:40 p.m.
I'm not a fan of Index , as it seems like a bit of a nothing card here. For card advantage, I see you have Think Twice in the maybeboard. I'd mainboard that probably. For me, I like to use Izzet Charm for the added options as well.
July 22, 2013 5:59 a.m.
Thanks Degonvey: I think Izzet Charm might be what the deck needs.

Lovely deck, just what I was looking for. Though I would hate playing against it. My suggestions would be (unless they would ruin the point of it being a budget deck)...
Mizzium Mortars
too much red?
Rakdos's Return
not sure on the current price
Jace, Memory Adept
seems perfect to me
July 25, 2013 9:46 p.m.
Thanks, SwampHippie! Excellent card suggestions (in various versions of the deck, I tried including them). Problem is that they're all fairly pricey (for a deck that needs to stay under $50 avg), so, I can't include them :(.

what about maybe turn and burn? Could be very good at negating an Alpha Swing from an aggro player.
July 25, 2013 11:19 p.m.
eeeey no worries, man. Glad to help. The deck is looking so, SO sweet. Actually, it looks mean. Devilishly, fantastically mean. In terms of offering further advice, are there any particularly troublesome matchups for this deck?
July 26, 2013 10:19 a.m.
ComptinaDaemonium: Turn / Burn is probably my favourite card in DM, but without creatures, I feel that paying 5 for removal is a tad too expensive. Granted, you can neutralize vicious cards(Restoration Angel + Thragtusk , Geralf's Messenger , Voice of Resurgence ), but so far, I've opted for cheaper/faster removal. I'll look at it again.
Degonvey: I have to try it out in its new form, but generally, the problem had been that the extraction wasn't happening fast or effectively enough. I.e., the usual, one-hit win-con has been an overloaded Cyclonic Rift EOT, followed by a Reap Intellect of 3 or 4. However, that's expensive and only happens if I've managed to delay the game long enough. I'd say the problem have been aggro/midrange deck that can pump out creatures faster than I can remove them (at which point, even if I can Slaughter Games something, I haven't dealt with the permanents).
In short, the general weakness I've encountered is that, since extraction doesn't deal with permanents, removal has to keep up (and, for RNG/whatever, haven't been able to consistently).

you could use 1 or 2 Master of cruelities to hold off any creatures plus he is a game ender
July 30, 2013 4:35 p.m.
He would be a game ender, except I don't have any way to deal the 1 dmg to the player =.

I'm liking this a lot. Going to make it mostly because I have always wanted a good budget deck, I'm curious though how does it perform? is it slow/fast, which match ups seem to be your worst/best?
+1

If you like the Master of Cruelties idea, you can always drop loothouse for 2 stensia bloodhalls, its a activated land, can deal two damage, it actually works quite well, and you dont need to use it till you hit with a MoC and cus its a land, its not a dead draw before the MoC hits.

Ti22_HipHero says... #21
and honestly MoC fits control decks very well, as a way to end a game when you draw him, and even changing to flames of the firebrand over Rolling Temblor gives you another way to hit them if needed.
August 4, 2013 7:39 p.m.
you may want to drop the 1x Psychic Spiral so you can be back at 60 cards and just have that card ready for mill match ups
August 4, 2013 7:52 p.m.
So I went and made that deck, any help would be appreciated.
August 5, 2013 12:12 a.m.
Hmm, I'm not sold on MoC yet, but I'll give it a whirl--I can't make the change here because I've asked to have the deck featured in the Bang for your Buck series, and I have to keep mid price under $50 for that (and MoC breaks that in a second).
sabba5600 I ended up dropping the Psychic Spiral (and one Breaking / Entering because I hadn't updated with any M14 cards--Traumatize is a great card for the deck.

Nice to see an old grixis deck back on the deck-cycles, you plan on making this into the new standard? Lots of cards in here need to be replaced :P
