Divination for some cheaper card drawing? I like it, +1 from me. Check out my Grixis deck and see if there's anything you'd add: Night of Cruelties

well better late then never i guess but my problem with Divination is that its in my 3slot aswell, and its a sorcery.i just rather have the mana open for stuff like downfall or counterspells. the only times i ever want to tapout on t3 is when i need to cast Anger of the Gods against aggro and such.

Divination is later game card, you'll still have cards in hand turn 3 and won't need to draw. Divination helps later in the game when you've used all your counters and removal and it gives you more of those to deal with your opponent'opponent's Kate game, you won't ever be tapping out turn 3 to use it.

but if it is for lategame im have Opportunity for those. costs more but draws more and is an instant.

but if you have some suggestions on what you would cut for them i will atleast try it out.

This deck seems great, one thing, though is I notice you don't run Rakdos's Return ....why not? Its a great card, does damage, hand destruction, and can be redirected at a planeswalker. Would be great to close the game after master hits too, or just use with alot of mana for a big burn.

Another thing, I'm not a fan of Opportunity , I prefer Pilfered Plans , thats just me I guess. The reason is I'd rather not waste 6 mana on that where I could have used 2 or 3 burns instead....Also pilfered is available much earlier and I never really hurt for cards....this could work as well though, whatever works for you is great as well of course. Just my 2 cents...seems like a great deck, I want to get a master or two for mine.

Does Counterflux work for you?? I used to run it for its uncounterability, but it was hard on the mana base, very restrictive cost. Now I only run it against control.

There are a couple other things you might look into also......You have no way to deal with hexproof, or protection from....what if your opponent dropped a Blood Baron of Vizkopa or Fiendslayer Paladin + 2x Divine Favor ? These can be hard to us to deal with.....I run Devour Flesh and Far / Away for these scenarios, also Mizzium Mortars can be cheap for hitting creatures that are x/4 and can be used for another higher power board wipe late game, a la Anger of the Gods

The reason i dont run Rakdos's Return is that it never worked for. Fighting against aggro already is a though matchup their hand would be empty by the time i can cast it and not die the next turn. Against control the card was generally to hard to cast off succesfully. Great if it worked though. With the amount of walker hate i dont need a redirect of dmg and to when i did play it it was indeed used most of the time to bring in the kill after Master of Cruelties it just felt so stupid casting Rakdos's Return for 1...always.

In my experience Rakdos's Return is a better card in midrange builds fighting agsint control.

I just think Pilfered Plans lacks drawpower. As control by the time you start to get low on hand, you should be capable of casting Opportunity refilling your hand to 6/7. Pilfered Plans just cant keep up with that. May be differend in midrange builds though who just want to draw another fattie or two.

Generally i dont have trouble casting Counterflux and it this or Dissolve and i realy dislike swapping flux and Dissolve from a sideboard just for control matches.

I know i cant deal with any mb hexproof/protection cards. This was intentional. There are just to few creatures that dont die by any of the cards in this deck. Like you said there are like 2 maybe 3 creatures(bare hexproof) that i cant get rid of.

The last creature with hexproof i ever seen on a FNM table was Lone Revenant and that was played by me. The other hexproof build i see are on Cocatrice and i cant say they are scare to play against with Master of Cruelties

Fiendslayer Paladin yes i cant target him but Anger of the Gods still kills it and i have never seen it irl nor have i ever seen someone play Divine Favor still Master of Cruelties would kill it. in your case trade with it one a 3 for 1.

Blood Baron of Vizkopa yes it a problem card but it a 5drop by the time is can hit the field it should be either Thoughtseize d or run into a counterspell. In game 1 best i can do againt one that is sucessfully summoned is 2-1 it by either Anger of the Gods + burn or doubleburn it. Mizzium Mortars is great at stopping the baron and i did play it at a point but i after coming across so many things is couldnt reach(Desecration Demon Polukranos, World Eater etc.) i put in Dreadbore could kill practically all and serves as a more versitile card capable of kill walkers in control matches.

But due to the lack of these card i only play Far / Away s in the side.

@cklise late responce but Slaughter Games get rid of anything you dont wanna face and it doesnt even need to be in their hand...better if would but still.

Cyclonic Rift slows down aggro a lot and helps with a variety of other things too.

aquous form or Prowler's Helm

July 4, 2014 2:34 p.m.

Sagi007 says... #14

why? Aqueous Form and Prowler's Helm are nice giving unblockable and all but i realy have to few targets to be effective. ive tried Thassa, God of the Sea in its stead, but while she is good and all she had little impact on the field itself. continues scry was good though.

but that was in the old deck and if you have a suggestion on what to cut for her ill try thassa again. still own 2 of those.

Nice deck. A suggestion or two: You have to many finishers. I would say cut both the number of AEtherling and Master of Cruelties by half, but if nothing else, just cut your number of AEtherling down to 1. If you have 1 or 2 in your hand and you haven't stabilized enough to play them, they are sitting dead in space you could have more control.

Also, you should really think about Thassa, God of the Sea . Continuous filtering, and she makes your dude unblockable. All that for 3 mana is pretty good.

Grixis control is some fun stuff :)

oh and 1 more thing for the sideboard, for dealing with elspeth and assemble tokens, drop a single copy of Illness in the Ranks in the sideboard.

July 10, 2014 12:08 p.m.

Sagi007 says... #20

Trying out lowering the MoC and AEtherling for 2 Thassa.

Bout Illness in the Ranks i know right the card is great at stopping tokens. Ive used it for a very long time. But against Elspeth ive already got 5x walkerremoval and from the side 3 more counterspells and Slaughter Games dont you think that would be enough to deal with her?

Fears i have of running only 1x AEtherling is seeing mine get a Thoughtseize on it.

in your description, i don't see how Crypt Incursion works with Anger of the Gods since AotG exiles their creatures, ad doesn't put them into the graveyard, meaning you can't exile them for life.

July 14, 2014 7:12 a.m.

Sagi007 says... #22

Crypt Incursion is the only way that is capable of granting lifegain for grixis.

Together with 3x Shock 2x Far / Away and the other removal i have generally gets me 6+ in the grave granting 18+life atleast. The rest gets exiled with AotG. And dont forget Master of Cruelties is a card that forces blocking and thus feeding the grave.

Fianally killing Reanimators is fun since none expects this card.

Have you considered Bile Blight in place of Anger of the Gods ? It is cheaper, and helps vs indestructible where anger doesn't.
