I am in love with Throne of Eldrain! A Vorthos to my core, and a lover of fairytales in all their forms, every spoiler has me creating a new deck in inspiration, proxying them out, and testing them relentlessly.

Let's break down Fires of Invention

First off it comes with a couple limiting factors. We can only cast on our turn, which means that the deck wants absolutely no instants. I took this to an extreme and put my removal on permanents with a Ilharg, the Raze-Boar and Meteor Golem combo.

Secondly, we can only cast two spells per turn. Card draw isn't as good in this deck, we don't necessarily want to get ahead of the curve. With limited casting capacity, every spell has to make an impact.

And what do we get? The capacity to cast two spells with CMC less than the number of lands we control, for free. Essentially doubling our mana - and tripling it if we have something to sink all that untapped mana into.

So the deck needs: Something to spread the restrictions. Some big splashy spells Some mana sinks - and if they're big and splashy, all the better.

Drakuseth, Maw of Flames - because look at him Shivan Dragon - for the fire breath Loxodon Lifechanter - his activated ability is going to force a block and take out a blocker at the very least

I'm particularly fond of Outlaws' Merriment here - as it keeps giving a slightly different effect every turn without me having to cast a thing.

Rule of Law / Deafening Silence to make the inventor's prohibitions universal. (if a little bit worse) - and if it's a game of making the most out of one spell a turn - we've got this.

One concerning aspect is that opponents can still cast their instants during other people's turns. I haven't yet found a way to prevent this in our colors.
