I have not seen a miracles deck work in modern. you need things like Brainstorm and Sensei's Divining Top to really make them viable. don't get me wrong, they are very strong in legacy; but since the key cards are banned in modern the deck/archetype does not work.

Ehehehe well... I might just be foolish enough to take this thing to a few legacy tournaments :P. And I might have been foolish enough to have done so in the past. Maybe.

Just so I can get a feel for the community's opinion, is my keeping a history of all of the changes this deck underwent from start to finish in the updates something that I should keep, or is it something that most of you ignore and thus only causes more clutter which you have to scroll through?

November 2, 2014 8:37 p.m.

I can only speak for myself, but I enjoy the deck's update section. I like to see how it has evolved and grown into something spectacular.

Check out my last update and the ...errrr, updated Maybeboard Description. I would love to hear the community's thoughts and feedback. And I also want to personally thank all of you who have helped me to improve this deck as much as you have. The decks you guys make are amazing bases to playtest against.

Keep doing what you do planeswalkers!!!

Had you considered Tangle Wire in the is deck?

November 6, 2014 1:26 p.m.

DuTogira says... #8

No I had not... Though since this deck tends to play with a nearly empty board anyway, I feel like Tangle Wire would be prone to hurting me just as much as -if not more than- my opponent. Thank you for the suggestion though!

Overhauls are coming. I like the deck, and I own every card in it. In terms of playstyle it is me in a nutshell. But as for competitive effectiveness, I feel that some of the pillow fort cards get in the way of this deck's consistency. Therefore, I will make a copy of this deck and post it in the updates section to immortalize this version, but overhauls are coming soon. More cantrips, maybe dig through time, and switching my mana base to run on fetch lands and basics so that Blood Moon, Ghost Quarter, etc aren't such massive issues for the deck as they currently are. I may cut back a bit on lands too. With so much draw power, the last thing I want to do is flood out, which does occasionally happen with this deck.

I would like to point out that there is a legacy version of this deck that uses LED and the red spell bomb with the salvagers for infinite damage. The nickname of the deck is bomberman, so maybe check out a list and see if you can modify it for modern. This list feels like it is trying to do to much with minimal effectiveness. Maybe find a better infinite mana source? I'm not sure how you can untap pili when it is attacking. you can only use the ability when it untaps. Try using Mox Opal or maybe Springleaf Drum. I do like your idea. its something different.

November 18, 2014 1:26 p.m.

DuTogira says... #11

The untap ability on Pili-Pala can be used to untap it whenever it becomes tapped. You do not need a source to untap it for you. I'm also aware of bomberman, I have even linked the deck list both in the description and in the update section. I do agree that the deck feels like it is trying to do a bit too much, and thus loses both consistency and effectiveness, however, there are a great enough number of "fetch" cards in the deck that I feel it is reasonably effective at doing what it tries to do. Granted, it could be more effective and consistent, but that is why I am in the process of overhauling it. As for Mox Opal and Springleaf Drum, this deck tends to run a fairly empty board prior to comboing, so I don't feel either card would produce mana reliably enough to make it worth running.

Comments where cleared and the deck underwent another major update. Check it out and let me know what you guys think of it in comparison to the old version. Personally I liked the old version more, but that was because its pillow fort nature made it inherently weaker to non-competitive decks, meaning such things as duel decks could hold their own against it simply for the massive amount of card diversity these decks run. Now this deck is too consistent and too fast for decks like that to stand a chance vs it, but the competitive strength of the new version is far greater. Again, let me know what you guys think, and thank you all for your support!

I stumbled across a card called Trinisphere and I really, really think it would be good in this deck, especially since this deck wins by going infinite on mana, and all of the hard fetch cards like Perplex and Fabricate already cost 3 anyways. I know that the Trinisphere could hurt the large # of cantrips in this deck, but I feel like it would hurt control, burn, and even a few combo and Aggro decks far more than it would hurt itself. What I can't decide is what to take out to add the Trinispheres. Should I remove the pseudo cantrip that is Mystic Speculation since it isn't a real draw engine and Trinisphere could hurt it anyway, or should I remove some other pillow fort card like Chalice of the Void or Pithing Needle instead?
Note: I am unwilling to remove Aura of Silence and Meddling Mage as they are my primary answers to Stony Silence.

My question is: what do you guys think I should remove? I'm currently leaning towards cutting Spellskite, since he tends to redirect only those cheap spells that Trinisphere already would be hurting. Also considering dumping Muddle the Mixture, but doing so would hurt the consistency with which I can get Meddling Mage, Spellskite, and Pili-Pala.

Thoughts?

Hey, first of all, thank you for quoting me on your deck's description. The deck actually changed a lot since the last time I gave it a look, in better of course. I really appreciate the efforts you're doing in describing your mainboard and sideboard choices. I have one consideration about spellbombs: since the goal of the game is to win, why not just running 3 Pyrite Spellbomb which can directly win you a game? Is there any case where you prefer fetching for a Sunbeam Spellbomb?

January 15, 2015 4:56 a.m.

DuTogira says... #16

Against burn decks and other forms of agro both Sunbeam Spellbomb and Aether Spellbomb can help stall for a turn or two, which Pyrite Spellbomb can't do. Considering all three spell bombs provide infinite draw when combo'd with Auriok Salvagers, there is also no drawback for running these instead of more Pyrite Spellbombs.

Yeah, I thought the choice was made for early game before combo goes off. Anyway, good deck. One of my favorites here on T/O.

Dig through time has to go :c its banned otherwise its a really amazing deck! I love the interactions

Since when was dig banned?

3n3rgy2 says... #20

Today lol. Janurary 19th was the updating of the modern banlist. Treasure cruise, dig through time, and birthing pod were all banned. Golgari grave troll was unbanned

January 19, 2015 9:42 p.m.

DuTogira says... #21

In that case I'm open to suggestions, though some form of cantrip would be favorable... That or I guess I could board in Path to Exile, though the death of pod decks makes that change seem a little unnecessary. I could also just add more Muddle the Mixture, but I would prefer some way to either cantrip to replace dig's function or some form of removal for creatures, as that is the one thing this deck lacks most... I suppose I could replace dig with Spoils of the Vault, though it seems a very dangerous option to me.

Thoughts anyone?

3n3rgy2 says... #22

Glimpse the Future seems to be the best replacement for dig. Other than that maybe Thirst for Knowledge? There is a card from mirage that is the same thing as dig but for 2 and UUU without delve. But its not modern legal.

Have you thought of adding Jeskai Ascendancy? You could get insane draws with that and Grand Architect.

January 25, 2015 1:48 a.m.

DuTogira says... #24

It's just outclassed by Staff of Domination in this deck, which can be fetched with Fabricate while ascendency cannot. That and infinite card draw is superior to infinite looting, though not by much.

January 25, 2015 3:29 a.m.

DuTogira says... #25

The other issue is that while I could use architect with ascendency to do a good deal of looting before actually going off, the deck prefers to wait to play architect until it is actually time to go off, as it is by far the most difficult and time consuming card to fetch if it gets sent to the yard somehow.
