I dare say this list may be finalized... at least until SoI is out. From playtesting, the deck just feels strong. You either have plenty of removal, a powerful "go wide" board presence, or a way to keep threatening the combo. It just feels strong, and I love it.

Just read the interesting games section. That game sounds awesome and hilarious.

As for the deck, I have to agree that the mainboard looks either perfect or near perfect.

I wonder... maybe I should replace Hurkyl's Recall with sideboard Wear/Tear. It would be pretty good against affinity, I already have a Steam Vents, and it works very nicely against Stony Silence.

I like it! Although looking over the decklist, why is the Steam Vents in here? It was for Pyrite Spellbomb and Crumble to Dust, but neither of those are in the deck anymore. Running wear/tear may be a good excuse to keep it in here, but for now Vents serves no purpose.

It lets explosives hit 4cmc cards. Since the mana base of this deck only needs 1 w and 1b to be fully operational, the vents can be an island and it doesn't hinder performance at all. It could just as easily be a breeding pool for all I care. It also means I'm not scared of splashing for a fourth color sideboard tech card. With that said, I could just as easily run a breeding pool and Nature's Claim.

Ok I'm thinking I take out the steam vents for a breeding pool and then have the sideboard slot for Echoing Truth and one Hurkyl's Recall be replaced with Golgari Charm. It's good against white decks since they tend to run either 2/1's or a bunch of 1/1 tokens, and it can get rid of Stony Silence. I know it's a bit off color but it shouldn't be needed until turns 5+ so that shouldn't be an issue.

Also playable vs Elves, Merfolk, Delver, Tokens, and a bunch of other go wide decks. I like it. A lot.

It probably won't be used in this deck because it already plays at instant speed, but anyone have thoughts on Eerie Interlude and the effects it may have on creature based combo decks in modern?

February 16, 2016 2:50 p.m.

Nah. It already exists. I don't remember what the old one is, but it's a functional reprint of an already existing card. Besides, I don't think it's very good in here. Regen off of Golgari Charm is probably better for the versatility.

Its basically a reprint of Ghostway that let's you select what creatures get flickered. Good to use for abusing ETB effects

Ghostway was the card. I found it 30 seconds ago :P. I agree it isn't worth a slot in this deck.
Also happy about Topplegeist since he provides junk decks with a good way to fight the eldrazi and gives UWR control a much needed shot in the arm. Not happy about junk getting stronger but beggars can't be choosers. I also don't think the Geist is worth playing in this deck.

Ok so I know how nice Myr Superion feels in this deck but... would he be better replaced by Ensnaring Bridge? It won't stop Pili-Pala from attacking since I draw a card every turn and can play whatever is in my hand on main phase 2, and it accomplishes much the same goal as the superion, in that it stops the opponent from attacking. It's a bit of a non-bo with tezzeret but... heck maybe I even cut tez for more early game creature removal just to outlast anything my opponents may have.

If you go for that route, bring Auriok Salvagers back. Sounds like this update should be taken to The Minefield: A Modern Artifact Recycler (T3 Win) rather than here.

Probably should be taken to the minefield... I'll look into it.

Looks like both our last deck share the same engine, yet are completly different takes on this archetype...

Well, I guess you're quite familiar with Grand Architect, but I'm not using it to combo with Pili-Pala, though. ;)

Ozzy, the Architect of Pillow Forts is my take on how to shut the eldrazi down perfectly. Let me know what you think :P

What about Big Game Hunter as anti-eldrazi and anti BGx tech? BGx runs a lot of valid targets and forced discard which is good to trigger madness, against Reality Smasher I can path the smasher, pitch the hunter, and then play it for madness to 2 for 1 my opponent through removing a smasher, and if push comes to shove I can always just cast it or vial it in. It would probably take the place of Hurkyl's Recall and one Pithing Needle.

February 20, 2016 11:52 p.m.

No. Too narrow. Even against those 2 decks, it's good, but not even that great I don't think. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't see it.

Awesome list!! I had a lot of fun playing against you on untap, seems really solid. I also enjoyed reading your description, it was very detailed and nuanced. I don't have any suggestions for you right now, but I look forward to seeing your deck refined and perfected over time. Good Luck!
