Since you are willing to put Brago, King Eternal in there he will combo nicely with Obzedat, Ghost Council for some nice indirect damage. I will also recomend Devouring Greed ( found that one while building my deck) that can be played mid to late game and works well with your Angel of Flight Alabaster and Athreos, God of Passage

Oh, i forgot to mention with Devouring Greed if you sacrifice Baleful Eidolon and Thief of Hope at the same time you will get the Baleful Eidolon back in your hand during that same play.

When i activate Bragos effect on a bunch of my spirits is that techniqually 'playing' them thus activating thief of hope?

June 20, 2014 5:29 p.m.

Mimir_Fox says... #4

I am going to say no. Thief of Hope is activated when a spirit is played ie. when its mana cost is paid. Nothing in the wording of Bragos' ability supports a played or cast action to activate Thief of Hope.

Okay I don't think Bragos is justified then, but devouring greed, i think ill trade that for Soulless Revival . I feel its sorta over kill and the least effective at bringing creatures back. Will probably switch Sleep for Geist of Saint Traft once I decide to spend to money on one.

I'm looking for opinions! I have removed the 3 Dungeon Geists for two more Eidolon of Countless Battles and another Athreos, God of Passage . Does this seem like a good move? Idk how necessary the Dungeon Geists were but I'm starting to feel they really belonged. The blue devotion was kind of hard to handle sometimes and was my initial reason for taking them out as well as the lowered mana cost for Eidolon of Countless Battles and Athreos, God of Passage .

Azorius Charm is very useful in my deck, but other than the sovereigns combo I see very little similarities between our decks, so I can't give you a complete answer. I can say That it's almost never a dead draw, and your deck doesn't seem to have too much interaction or even card draw, so this wouldn't be bad?

I just wasn't sure how Azorius Charm and Esper Charm compared. the combo is slow and i think the lifelink or draw would be really helpful. I'm always trying to make this deck better, the spirits are my favorite and i think it has a lot of room for improvement. I'm just now thinking about how good See Beyond is for getting that Eldrazi Conscription from you hand back into your library. Very nice, something else to thinkn about

Why are you not using Tallowisp ?

October 7, 2014 4:50 p.m.

neosapien says... #10

Because Tallowisp does not place the enchantment on the attacking creature, it just puts it in your hand which is the last place i want the eldrazi conscription. If i get Call to the Kindred going turn 4 and get Sovereigns of Lost Alara turn 5 and attack with another creature and have Eldrazi Conscription turn 5. I considered it when i had some lower cmc enchantments. But perhaps it would be a great replacement for Baleful Eidolon to fetch Call to the Kindred . I'm definitely going to rethink it. Great comment!

Cavern of Souls and tell blue decks to suck it >:)

neosapien says... #12

Yea maybe two of those wouldn't be bad but I fear it being colorless could put me into some bad situations. Only playtesting can tell, thanks for the suggestion!!!

It's probably better to have multiple of Geist of Saint Traft than Athreos, God of Passage so doing a slight switch there.

I can see this is not exactly a token deck, but would Lingering Souls fit into the plan? You net four expendable spirits as blockers, but with Drogskol Captain they get aggressive. Cool deck!

neosapien says... #14

@WatchwolfCaptain89 I have purposefully completely stayed away from tokens because that's what everyone does with spirits and I see that they can do other stuff too.

I have messed around with and Abzan spirit token deck tho, that is something else I have been interested in. I have a prototype version that I have been working on so perhaps it will find its way in there.

@griz024 I just realized cavern taps for any color for creatures. Just put in a play set!

Switched Kataki, War's Wage with Drift of Phantasms . Realized most of my deck is 3cmc and would help me solidify any strategy I may need. Good body and a spirit, has a lot to offer.

How budget is this deck trying to be? I wanna know before I make any suggestions, as I do not like just throwing out the super expensive cards and thinking everyone can afford them.

November 17, 2014 1:48 p.m.

neosapien says... #18

I suppose not very, but I temporarily took out the scry lands and it is at a sorta reasonable budget. Maybe not for an all-in-one purchase but somewhat reasonable. I look forward to improving it so any suggestions would be appreciated!

I did some playtesting against my Twinseize deck, and I've found that your deck is extremely weak to combo decks (especially Splinter Twin decks).

I recommend the following:

a) Faster lands (fetches and/or shocks) and at LEAST one of Island, Plains, and Swamp to play around Tectonic Edge and Blood Moon.

b) Azorius Charm is good because it can make your opponent lose some tempo or it can cantrip. Remand will do both.

c) Path to Exiles and/or Dismembers are pretty much a must. Prison Term and Rend Flesh are the only cards that can possibly stop the twin combo. Prison Term isn't very useful because the combo creature can just be cast during your end step. Rend Flesh will require you to leave 4 mana open (expect the Deceiver Exarch or Pestermite to tap a black source.

I hope something in this helps. :) I like the deck.

Hey any one that is interested, I've made quite some changes lately including a play set of Path to Exile and some Serum Visions, tho now I am considering Disowned Ancestor instead of Thief of Hope. Any opinions on this???

With all the enchantments and the Azorius colors have you considered Bruna, Light of Alabaster?

February 23, 2016 5:56 a.m.

neosapien says... #22

If I were to have a six mana creature it would be Sovereigns of Lost Alara. I just don't want creatures with that high of cost. If I added some green ramp to this then I would be running stuff like that for sure, excellent suggestion though, thank you!

Bruna doesn't really fit the tribe, either, but the effect she has is pretty insane. Even if the enchantments are destroyed she can bring them right back. Love the deck btw, Spirits is a tribe that doesn't get enough love!

There is a place for her somewhere, just not quite here cause indeed she is a bomb. I'm really excited to see some new spirits in Shadows over Innistrad.
