trying to find a list that works with bbe —Feb. 21, 2018
jamming bbe into jund seems like a no brainer, but theres many subtleties in trying to get it to work correctly. at least for me. i tried running a slightly modified version of reid duke's list (only one loth) last night and dropped after going 0-3. it was pretty ugly. i feel like i can find a list that works in my meta but we'll see.
You would think that Blood Moon wouldn't be really good in your sideboard as it does a real good job of shutting your deck down.

It's tricky for sure. However I just got back from a modern night and completely got the drop on scapeshift with it. Honestly it's something I'd board in for round 2 and then board out round 3. That said, I did lower it from 2 to 1 of :) the main thing is to just get the proper basics before hand and not get hasty and drop it before I'm in a good position to play around it.

Running only one Chalice seems strange to me. Usually it seems like a card you really want when it's brought in so I'd think there would be more. How has the singleton Chalice worked out?

well most of the time i board it in, i want to drop it on 1. since i want to get my discard off the first few rounds, its honestly better for me late game. the exception is against affinity - dropping it for 0 on turn 1 can be pretty nice lol. i ran 2 for a while but it was overkill.

Fair enough. I suppose it has a different role in a deck like Jund than in the decks I usually play. And yes, turn one Chalice on 0 vs. Affinity is super satisfying.

I've noticed a trend towards dropping fulminator completely. I've even joined it. Fulminator only turns a 10/90 match up into a 30/70 match up at best against tron and scapeshift. I just feel the two to three spots could be better used for different match ups while i cross my fingers and hope i don't see them.

Aether revolt brought us Yahenni's Expertise. Maybe through one or two in the sideboard. Board-wiping into a Liliana or Goyf sounds pretty good to me.

Nice Deck! +1
How's Blood Moon been treating you? Only one Terminate? I like 3 push when you have access to red removal.

Chasmolinker - hey sorry dude forgot to reply to your comment ages ago. blood moon is solid; just have to be careful when to board it in. made the mistake of bringing it in when it was a win more several times. however it does get you in the habit of fetching basics to play around blood moon, which is good. in my meta push is generally better than terminate, unfortunately.

I like what you're doing here. Even though we both know Jund is getting its tail kicked in the current meta. It will always be a force in Modern. Hazoret looks mighty fine. I will be trying it as soon as it rotates.

Right now I am testing 2x copies of Abbot of Keral Keep in place of the Huntmasters. I will let you know how it has worked out.
Also, if Burn is in your meta, (theres only one burn player in mine) you may want to work in a few copies of Kitchen Finks. Those are the only real suggestions I have ATM. I feel like this list is best suited for an unknown modern meta.
