I played against similar mill deck with RDW and sacked it easily a few times in row. I would add some defenses against fast aggro decks instead of trying to deliver some damage. I think this deck is best when its focusing solely on mill.

Yeah the problem with all those is the cost, also Lazav, Dimir Mastermind could be cool, but he's not very good. I'll think about it, 1 Consuming Aberration isn't a bad idea at all, could work as a 1 of.

I stand by my opinion that little jace doesn't work in this build.

Was considering it, but this deck isn't really that heavy on mill. It's more cruel control.

Deck seems fine but for the record, Fetches are not worth playing just for deck thinning. If you look at the maths behind it, it doesn't actually help you.

I'd argue they are, also Hedron Crab . Yes, there are better uses for them, but If I ever get hands on some it wouldn't hurt to throw in a couple.

Ghost Quarter + Archive Trap = nuts.

I dig this! A bit heavy on the control aspect, when if you added more board wipes ala Damnation , Black Sun's Zenith , Cyclonic Rift , and AEtherize main board, then focus on mill ala Glimpse the Unthinkable , Archive Trap , Mind Funeral , and Jace, Memory Adept , you'll be much more successful.

I have an Esperspecial Mill deck:

That's the thing, this is meant to be mostly control. Very cruel control. I think decks heavy on mill like Twincast ing Glimpse the Unthinkable is just boring.

Mindcrank +Duskmantle Guildmage +mill/damage/life loss= game ftw

Yes, that would be very good, but I'm not a fan of infinite combos at all.

just an after thought, try using Mask of Avacyn to give your general hexproof or maybe you can find something that does the same thing for less. Also Whispering Madness + Notion Thief keeps the ball rolling and your opponent top decking provided you use any decent evasion creatures like Invisible Stalker or Jace's Phantasm . Notion Thief also effectively shuts down Sphinx's Revelation .

Actually Notion Thief would be prefect because it makes little jace not suck

Goodbye little jace <3

And feyn, that's not really the goal of this deck. Thanks anyway though.

June 2, 2013 7:56 p.m.

fine "legendary", geez. anyway I would put Notion Thief in the side board at the very least because he shuts down draw decks.

Maybe, I'll think about it. Are there a lot of decks heavy on draw in modern?

June 2, 2013 8:49 p.m.

Solemn Simulacrum , Thoughtcast , Gitaxian Probe , Elvish Visionary Chromatic Star , to name a few popular draw spells.

June 2, 2013 8:54 p.m.

slagathor3 says... #22

Well yeah but anything that causes mass draws like Mind Spring or something.

June 2, 2013 9:04 p.m.

I think the deck needs more mill/win conditions. Maxing out on Glimpse the Unthinkable would help along with a couple of Traumatize and a playset of Mind Funeral . Try Nemesis of Reason too. It can stall for time if need be, but also take away huge chunks out of your opponent's deck. I'd suggest cutting Jester's Scepter , Surgical Extraction , and Psychic Strike .

Please read the description, this isn't really a mill deck. Thanks, though!

Nemesis says... #25

well, have you considered Consuming Aberration ? Even with just a little bit amount of mill it gets big FAST.
