I'm basically running this in a FNM tomorrow, and I'd be interested in seeing that sideboard guide if you have the spare time to make it. I never really have trouble deciding what to board in, but I can never figure out what I should remove.

Running only two Advent of the Wurm s and no other tokens beyond Thragtusk s ltb beast there isn't much else to populate. If he ran Call of the Conclave , Parallel Lives , Voice of Resurgence and Armada Wurm or something. It would be a kickass token deck.

Sounds like my Selesnya's Horde (Current) when you start throwing all that in.
July 11, 2013 9:50 a.m.
hey if you had 3 Cavern of Souls what would you replace for them?
July 11, 2013 5:51 p.m.
Cavern of Souls should go in for 1 Sacred Foundry , 1 Clifftop Retreat , and 1 Rootbound Crag . Red is the tertiary color and white is secondary with a slight skew to a green base, so R/W lands are the first to go.

So playing this deck went pretty decently for me tonight. Unfortunately, I won all of the games that I played outside of the tournament, and only half of the ones that actually mattered. haha. My record for the FNM was 2-2. I'm going to take notes next time I think so I can write a better report. I'm struggling pretty hard to remember some of this stuff.
Match 1: (0-2)Running against Junk Aristocrats. I hate nothing more than Aristocrats... I don't really have a whole lot to say about this one. The guy playing the deck is a much more experienced player than me, running my nightmare deck. The second game was somewhat close, but hardly. haha
Match 2: (1-2)BWR Control. Game one he managed to counter everything i played except for Loxodon Smiter for obvious reasons.and he was able to kill me over the course of about a half an hour with a Restoration Angel and all kinds of sorceries and instants. Game two I managed to get a Garruk, Primal Hunter on the field right after he threw down a Supreme Verdict . I then continued on to play Aurelia, the Warleader , which he countered, but much to his disappointment i played another one the next turn which he couldn't stop. With two Restoration Angel in my hand and my opponent at 6 life, I ultimated garruk for 8 6/6 wurms. Normally i wouldn't have done the ultimate because he could just board wipe, which he did, but the angels in my hand and the Kessig Wolf Run on the field were easy enough insurance that i could still win. I really just wanted to get those wurms on the field for a minute. haha Anyway, on to game 3. This game was pretty rough. Suddenly his deck played very differently. He countered some stuff in the early game as expected, then he tossed out a Thundermaw Hellkite . Unfortunately I couldn't really do anything about it. The Mizzium Mortars in my hand wasn't enough to kill it. I managed to get an Aurelia, the Warleader to the field, but using some crafty work with Restoration Angel , he used the ETB ability on Thundermaw Hellkite to tap my Aurelia twice. with 10 life left I top-decked a Selesnya Charm . I tried to exile the hellkite, but naturally he countered that spell, then played another hellkite for the win.
Match 3: (2-0)This one was Jund Aggro. Game one i played a risky hand. I had a Mizzium Mortars , something else that i can't remember, and lands. Basically, I didn't play anything until Thragtusk , after which I played the overload cost on Mizzium Mortars to clear his field. After that i was able to draw another Thragtusk to really mess him up and i simply overpowered him from there. Game two I started out with a more promising hand. I was able to turn two Farseek to play a Boros Reckoner next turn. He promptly got rid of that reckoner and seemed to be winning for a little. Then I managed to get a Thragtusk on the field, which i then blinked with Restoration Angel two turns in a row. Needless to say, i won after that.
Match 4: Opponent had to leave, so automatic win.
Outside of the tournament I played against a Grixis Midrange deck with a pretty heavy amount of removal in it. I beat this opponent 4-0 i believe. I know i didn't lose any games to him, but i'm not 100% sure if i played him 3 or 4 rounds.
I also played that Jund Aggro deck again after the tournament and went 1-0.
Overall i think i did alright. I've never won a match against aristocrats before, so I'm not devastated by that loss. The games I lost against the BWR control were actually pretty close, and I never drew anything that i sided in, so i'm not too devastated there either. I'm definitely happy with how it worked against aggro and another midrange deck.
Just figured I would kill some time and type this up so you can see how others might be faring with your deck model. One thing i'm considering at this point is Thundermaw Hellkite . I was thinking of maybe reducing Loxodon Smiter to a 3 and moving Sigarda, Host of Herons to the sideboard to run 3x Thundermaw Hellkite . Opinions on that?

America control really is the bane to this deck is what I've found. So I would agree with you on that. Otherwise, Cavern of Souls is a must have for this deck. It may not seem viable because of the different types but the main ones like beast for Thragtusk and angel for Aurelia, the Warleader and Sigarda, Host of Herons but it has worked out fine for me so far. Thundermaw Hellkite I haven't worked with yet but hope to if I can borrow 1 more. Another thing I hope to try is to side in Acidic Slime against control to either destroy the Detention Sphere on Garruk or starve him of a white source to stop Supreme Verdict . Nonetheless this deck is still very young in my play testing and will be running it more.

How bout some early game? Thats what ive been having problems with. Oh I played BWR control with this deck lol i killed 4-0. Im only having problems with that early game when I really can't play anything out until 3rd turn... I'm thinking Voice of Resurgence then I would feel better playing out a Boros reckoner 3rd without them most likely countering it
July 12, 2013 5:56 p.m.
I would run Voice of Resurgence in this deck if I had them. I don't.

I have 7 of them o_o... But ya what would you replace for them?
July 13, 2013 6:07 p.m.
2 Sigarda, Host of Herons , 1 Mizzium Mortars , and 1 Unflinching Courage would go out, while also changing Ajani, Caller of the Pride to 2 more Domri Rade . Ajani isn't as good when the volume of big guys and Courage goes down, so you can instead play a more interactive, removal-based game with Domri and Voice.

Archangel of Thune is a very specific card in need of a specific build around concept.
July 17, 2013 3:26 p.m.
Haven't played in almost a month thanks to real-world problems. Bringing this bad boy back to stomp FNM tomorrow, with results and a report after!
@BorosLegion4125 No, I will not be running Archangel of Thune in this deck. I have already designed several decks based around Archangel of Thune and Trostani, Selesnya's Voice on my profile that you can check if you want to. They're all rough ideas, but I do like the interaction there and hope to build a physical deck with those cards at some point in time.
July 18, 2013 4:48 p.m.
why no huntmaster or better yet thundermaw? thundermaw is amazing against any aristocrat deck. I've been dying to run any Naya list and I like this one so far :) Im gonna run it at some FNMs to see how it does. im gonna test this with some thundermaws and I'll consider putting in huntmaster.
July 19, 2013 7:56 a.m.
I eschewed Huntmaster for Unflinching and Thundermaw for Sigarda. The main reason is that I don't own the aforementioned cards, and the second reason is that I just really like putting Unflinching Courage on Sigarda, Host of Herons .

makes sense. when i ran junk mid i also had a sigarda in main as well. she won me multiple matches with just her alone. my meta is full with lingering souls so thundermaw will fit perfectly. ill find a place for him and test it out.

i've been thinking about throwing bonfire in my version of this, but i don't really think there's anything i'd want to remove for it.
