This is my version of G/W Devotion using Mastery of the Unseen.
I t uses the standard green mana handicap ramp Elvish Mystic + Sylvan Caryatid +
Courser of Kruphix
.
The engine of the deck is the interplay between Mastery of the Unseen with
Deathmist Raptor
+
Whisperwood Elemental
+ Hooded Hydra.
Deathmist Raptor
and Hooded Hydra can be morphed/megamorphed so you get insane life gain as you flip them. All three can be morphed from your hand, or manifested vie
Whisperwood Elemental
or Mastery of the Unseen.
You can throw
Deathmist Raptor
on suicide attacks because you can pull him right out of the graveyard with the next faceup creature.
Hooded Hydra works so well because you can play it or morph it out of your hand, but if you manifest it with
Whisperwood Elemental
or Masteryof the Unseen, you can flip is as a 5/5 for just two green mana. And then if it dies, it creates 5 green snake tokens, so if you can turn another creature face up, that's 5+ life gain. And you have 5 chump blockers.
Abzan Falconer
is just here to give all creatures with tokens (Hooded Hydra,Genesis Hydra, and sometimes
Deathmist Raptor
.
Genesis Hydra serves two purposes...help finding Mastery of the Unseen, but also, it can become a big flyer when
Abzan Falconer
is on the battlefield.
Dragonlord Dromoka is the finisher, if you haven't overwhelmed them on the ground.
Earlier versions of this deck had a set of
Den Protector
and it worked great at feeding Mastery of the Unseen and pulling back creatures from the graveyard. Sometimes you can get a 'Two-fer' by pulling one fatty into your hand and putting a
Deathmist Raptor
back onto the battlefield. The deck had insane life gain and a hugh board presence, which could win some games, but it still seemed to lack offensive firepower.
So now it has several offensive strategies. 1) You can flood the board with 2/2's, flipping creatures and generating life gain, or 2) use
Abzan Falconer
to turn anything with a counter into a flyer and go over the top with flying Hooded Hydras and Genesis Hydras, or 3) Combine 1 or 2 above with Bow of Nylea to give everything deathtouch. The Bow of Nylea also lets you put a counter on any creature you want to become a flyer.
UPDATE:Went 1-1-2 and learned quite a bit, which I've incorporated into the deck. First off,
Den Protector
is an awesome card, and so is Dromoka's Command. And I new I was going to be vulnerable to big fliers, and that proved true, so the Abzan Falconers are out, replaced by Arbor Colossus.
Hornet Nest played great out of the sideboard. It never let's me down with aggro decks.
Still working on the Sideboard.
