So I'm honestly not sure what had origionally inspired this deck but in the end it wound up reminding me of this weird poem I once read, anyways the deck is based off of field control and board wiping, usually you'll find you're at a constant field and hand advantage with your deck top decking like a pro, so I'll explain why I chose some cards over others.
MAINBOARD:
Batterskull: It's simply unstoppable no matter what you put it on, and if the oppurtunity arises you can sac out the germ to Garruk.
Birds: Mana ramping, helps fix those symbol heavy creatures and enables Wolf Run, also a decent sac target.
Deadly Allure: Put this on literally anything but Birds and youll have some fun, its a kill spell a morbid enabler and a means of killing your own creatures all in one, just beautiful.
Engulfing Slagwurm: I find there are times when Massacre Wurm falls just a little short on its own, anyways combined with deadly allure its just life and boardwipe on a stick.
Garruk: What cant this badass do? He kills small threats and is a death enabler, he generates tokens for self preservation, he tutors, and he tramples. I've never had a game where I couldn't use Garruk.
Glissa: Shes just hilarious! Her Artifact return ability aside she immediately shuts people down, making them afraid to attack and not to attack.
Inquisitors Flail: Put it on Glissa, or any of the little guys, or Phyrexian Obliterator, or anything the mimic vat pumps out, ensures a lot of headaches for the opponent, I used to run a 2 of but now that I've lowered it I seem to always draw it at the right times.
Kessig Wolf Run: Self explanatory, use it with birds and all the mana you've been storing up and swing big, use with inquisitors flail, or massacre wurm, or Glissa, and you'll find there's little loss.
Massacre Wurm: I find this guy is a great finisher, He destroys token aggro, and can hurt humans and wolves really badly, takes out any little boosters and the big ones all at once resulting in some significant damage and a big field advantage.
Mimic Vat: Bring back Solemns, Viridian Emissaries, Glissa, or my favorites Engulfing Slagwurm or Massacre Wurm for constant enemy frustration. This card is seldom used for defence these days but just watch your buddies face when he's accidentally swinging at any of the creatures in this deck because you vatted it out and declared blockers.
Phyrexian Obliterator: Obliterator indeed, I've found that short of being controlled off the field immediately this guy causes massive damage.
Prey upon: Like Deadly Allure but more specific, I love using this and Obliterator or my Solemns, or hell almost anything. It's basically a kill spell with more added on.
Tragic Slip: Things are going to be dying. A lot. And on top of all this carnage they're falling all over the battlefield from turn one.
Viridian Emissary: The mana distribution on these creatures is super finicky, if you can help it you want 2 green and 4 black as early as possible and with this decks setup this fellas a beast.
Mikaeus: Oh this guy, his +1/+1 boost forces the opponent to target him over Massacre Wurm with Dismember, on top of that he removes the need for hesitation on my side of the field and makes saccing Massacre Wurm with Garruk a smart move considering it re-ups that -2/-2 on everything. On top of that it kills Mirran Crusader, who is a big issue against this deck.
SIDEBOARD:I built my sideboard primarily around dealing with control, control screws this deck desperately, but if you can find a way to suppress early game then you will find by end game this deck is set.
Autumns Veil: Self explainitory, kill spells and counters can suck it, you're immune baby!
Ratchet Bomb: Kill tokens, bring it back with Glissa, wash rinse repeat. Given more time you can use it to destroy Mirran Crusaders and other annoying buggers.
Surgical Extraction: This card has always given me chuckles. Stops control, combos, tokens and depending on the deck some aggro when placed in this deck. Surgical extraction ends games before they even begin.
Thrun, the Last Troll: Oh to troll, this guy just makes people upset when he hits the field, swing away with no fear of retribution.
Garruk: Because somedays you dont draw the creatures you need, swap this burly guy in and he'll increase your chances.
Naturalize: For those swords and those O Rings.
