In the beginning, there was The Void. And from The Void, sprang Creation and Destruction. These two polarities spread out and made up Existence.
At the center of Existence, was the avatar of Creation and Destruction, Omnath. Omnath was a mighty God, wise and powerful. But as his nature was that of the very fabric of Existence, he was born Ancient.
Falling to the eons of time, his death gave rise to two new forces. One embodied the Light, and he became known as
Uril, the Miststalker
. The other was of darkness, and became the demigod known as
Prossh, Skyraider of Kher
.
These two new avatars set forth on their destinies, as the primeval forces of Creation and Destruction hid themselves in secret; gathering strength for their inevitable rebirth.
And a return to their rightful rule.
So, the legend is true. I had an elemental tribal Omnath deck, that I tore apart to create Uril and Prossh (check my profile for lists).
No regrets on either of those; Uril is fun and Prossh is a house.
But, after tuning these two...Uril didn't want the ramp spells. He did want the
Abundance
and
Sylvan Library
though. The Enchantresses make very good use of both, trust me.
Prossh absolutely wanted the ramp spells and critters, but not
Exploration
or
Azusa, Lost but Seeking
.
A lot of the elementals were dead weight. They were cute but that's it.
This deck is not cute. It is Creation and Destruction. I do not know what to call it's archetype, but I guess it's a combo deck. The idea is to chain together draw spells like
Cathartic Reunion
and
Life's Legacy
, to help set up draw engines like
Elemental Bond
and
Manabond
.
Dig till you can find a
Splendid Reclamation
or
Creeping Renaissance
and a
Warstorm Surge
or
Where Ancients Tread
, and proceed to nuke the board.
The entire deck is lands, draw spells, engine pieces and hate cards with synergy behind them. Even with the land destruction,
Titania, Protector of Argoth
turns it all into face beating, Warstorm Surging, Elemental Bonding value! It isn't unhead of, to have...say...Azusa and an Exploration on board with Titania. Play
Overlaid Terrain
, saccing all 5 lands, getting 5 5/3 tokens, and then playing 4 for the turn and tapping out to play Omnath. Bonus points if
Horn of Greed
or
Elemental Bond
also happens to be there, you just refilled your hand after you emptied it.
Keen Sense
and
Snake Umbra
turn our commander into a draw engine with
Goblin Bombardment
or
Perilous Forays
. Or better yet, put one of those on
Zhur-Taa Druid
to tap for a Green mana and 3 cards and 3 damage. It's like a Gruul
Arcanis the Omnipotent
.
Don't be afraid to throw stuff into the graveyard or blow up lands. Things like
Splendid Reclamation
and
Praetor's Counsel
will turn that frown upside down.
Storm Cauldron
+
Manabond
is a silly combo in here. Tap out, play your hand, end turn, Manabond all your lands back into play for more Omnath value. It also allows us to safely play a
Destructive Force
by bouncing our lands back to our hands when we tap for the spell and then dumping them back into play at end of turn. Also allows us to turn on
Sasaya, Orochi Ascendant
easier. Or it allows us to easily play
Overlaid Terrain
with no downside.
By the way, Sasaya is ridiculous. She makes your mana exponential, which helps when recovering from mass land destruction, or trying to play your 7 mana commander for 15 mana. A
Creeping Renaissance
or
Praetor's Counsel
will usually activate her Essence. If you have 6 forests in play, she makes each one tap for 5. You now have 30 mana at your disposal.
Praetor's Counsel
is more than a house. It is an entire apartment complex. Returning your whole graveyard to your hand is ridiculous and the no maximum hand size clause seals the deal.
If I were to look at other stuff for this deck, it would be like
Rude Awakening
and
Early Harvest
and
Mizzix's Mastery
. Maybe
Recoup
.
Comet Storm
would have to come in then. So would
Vexing Shusher
and
Guttersnipe
.
Boundless Realms
is on my short list to acquire as well. If I tear apart Karador, I have a
Life from the Loam
that could be very serious here.
Natural Affinity
+
Blasphemous Act
would be delicious, especially with mana floated for
Splendid Reclamation
. Or go
Titania, Protector of Argoth
+
Natural Affinity
+
Chandra's Ignition
for maximum lulz.
In the same vein,
Sporemound
+
Life and Limb
+
Impact Tremors
should kill the table with 1 land
More recursion would help probably.
Greenwarden of Murasa
would be nice,
Eternal Witness
is so expensive for what it is.
Skullwinder
could be a viable budget alternative.
Maybe take out a forest and mountain for
Jund Panorama
and
Naya Panorama
. I'd also like to get a
Ghost Town
and
Blighted Woodland
.
Homeward Path
would also be great here.
Ghirapur Orrery
and
Rites of Flourishing
are also interesting. More so the Orrery than the Rites, but the inclusion of either would warrant a
Tunnel Ignus
. I truly fear I could deck myself with
Fateful Showdown
.
I wasn't aware that
Ulvenwald Observer
was a card, but it certainly is! Along the same vein, I need to find room for
Skullmulcher
.
Devastating Dreams
is new to me and would fit in here fine
Panharmonicon
would act as second copies of
Warstorm Surge
and
Where Ancients Tread
, as well as
Elemental Bond
and
Garruk's Packleader
. But is it just winmore at that point?
Descent of the Dragons
could be a really fun kill spell in here with
Warstorm Surge
.
I finally got a
Crucible of Worlds
and
Scapeshift
, but need to make room.
If you like the deck, upvotes are free! And if you have ideas or your own take on this idea, I'd be super excited to see. Especially if you have access to some of the pricier cards like Crucible.
If you have cuts for some of my Maybe board, please speak up!
