Not only my prime Standard deck, but it is undefeated at FNM for four weeks straight and went 5-3 at GP Denver. This deck just becomes too immense way too quickly for many players to control. And that is why I am going to break the deck down piece by piece to prove the wonders of today's standard: ruled by the Knights in Shining Armor. Battlewise Hoplite is such a bro in this deck. For one blue and one white, he drops himself as a 2/2, which isn't terrible. But this is where he gets good. Besides his Heroic allowing him to become a monster, he allows you to scry your next top deck. To see what's coming and to obtain valuable knowledge on how to play your deck is wonderful. Favored Hoplite is easily one of the best one drops in ALL of Standard, including Monastery Swiftspear. He is a fog that can swing for A LOT. Let's say you are playing an Abzan Aggro, common within today's standard. They have a beautiful curve, with Fleecemane Lion into Anafenza, the Foremost into Siege Rhino. The swing for a total of 11, with Anafenza placing a +1/+1 counter on Siege Rhino. Just drop an Ajaini's Presence onto Favored Hoplite, prevent their damage, make him indestructible in the case they are willing to Hero's Downfall it, and destroy them next turn. Simple.Hero of Iroas doesn't need to be explained that deeply. Makes Auras dirty cheep. Get's big. Simple. Gods Willing, along with Ajani's Presence and Feat of Resistance are all strategically important in keeping your board a threat when Mardu, Abzan, Esper Control, U/W Control, and U/B Control all are just hoping to destroy your strategy. Lastly, Aqueous Form does wonders. They can have any field of any size, but with how big your creatures will get, unblockable calls game.
