The Permanent Boardstate

Commander / EDH*

FalconSeven

This deck is my personal attempt at devising a boardstate resilient to as many forms of interaction as possible.

THE PROBLEM:

The EDH meta that I play in has shifted radically over time, but one stationary fact of this enigmatic dance of transience has elucidated itself to me; board states are fickle and prone to disruption.

THE OFFENDERS:

Zurgo, the Spellslinger - A more potent deck you will not have seen. Zurgo Helmsmasher is apparently lord of sorcery and instant speed interaction. With a few typical voltron items such as Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots and Trailblazer's Boots as well as a full suite of swords, this zurgo packs a punch. What is even more terrifying is the sheer volume of spot removal, wheel of fortune effects, combat tricks and boardwipes in this ensemble. A true force to be reckoned with.

Leovold, Generator of Rage - A typical Leovold, Emissary of Trest setup, this deck is designed to reduce the amount of cards in ones hand to zero. Permanently. The owner of this particular abomination is prone to switching up its construction frequently, cycling through alot of different commanders. Meren of Clan Nel Toth, Sidisi, Brood Tyrant, Grimgrin, Corpse-Born, Nekusar, the Mindrazer. You might be seeing a pattern here. Lots of graveyard shenanigans and lots of edict style removal. Absolutely abhorrent.

These two are the primary offenders, but there are others who add to the fragility of the battlefield

A Mayael the Anima very fond of their magus of the disc and Bearer of the Heavens

A Teneb, the Harvester with more spot exile effects and white board wipes than can be imagined.

A Melek, Izzet Paragon with an annoying affinity for Cyclonic Rift

A Kaalia of the Vast with a trigger happy Armageddon, and Merciless Eviction and so much more.

THE SOLUTION:

I will put together a deck, slowly as i get the money for cards, that is largely resilient to this disruption. There will be significant redundancy in this deck to try and account for possible weaknesses. It is of my opinion that bant colours will be best for this deck for several reasons.

To be clear, this deck is NOT intended to be a stax deck. The aim isn't to prevent the other players from playing, but toe merely make any attempt at interaction with my board impotent.
