A more casual version of the classic Sneak Attack, Impromptu Raid can also pop out a creature for a single Haste-fueled turn, but off the top of your deck rather than your hand. It's more mana-intensive and less predictable, but it doesn't actually deplete the cards you have access to.

is still a serious bargain to swing with a hefty attacker or get a powerful comes-into-play ability out of nowhere, but it's too bad when it's one-and-done. What's the one tribe that you can't keep down no matter how hard you try, though? Enter the loveable zombies, who come complete with their own tribal land - Unholy Grotto! Cheat out the big beefy Thraximundar to take a swing at your opponent, let him die, then put him back on top of your library to do it again next turn!

You can take the guessing out of the equation by setting up the top of your deck with Sensei's Divining Top. Vampiric Tutor finds you Impromptu Raid or, if you already have one, sets the perfect creature for the situation on top of your deck to be cheated out. Haunted Crossroads takes some pressure off your grottos (and lets you recur Grave Titan, too!) If your ill-gotten attackers are going to die anyway, Village Rites and Tymaret, the Murder King gives you something to do with their doomed bodies. Why give in to fate, though? Mikaeus, the Unhallowed lets you cheat death by having all of your creatures come right back after being sacrificed.

Cheating out creatures with excellent comes-into-play triggers and huge stats is great, but an especially rude pairing is Vengeful Pharaoh. The Pharaoh can keep blowing up your opponent's creatures and putting himself where the Raid wants him before taking another hasty 5-point swing and conveniently placing himself back in the grave. Don't forget that you can also use the Raid mid-combat for surprise blockers!
