TwinStags Mentor of the Meek and Solemn Simulacrum are both flicker support cards. and Mentor of the Meek just isn't good for this deck, most of our other cards already draw us a card for 1, but also add to the storm counter for Aetherflux Reservoir , which is important. Solemn Simulacrum on the other hand is a fine addition, with or without the flicker package. Several optimized lists in higher level EDH run the card, and is a decent ramp creature. I just dont run it because I dont want my ramp cards to be more expensive than my commander.
Spawning Breath is just a two mana card that generates us 1 mana. Not useful by any means. Also it cannot target any of our one toughness cards multiple times.
Leering Emblem is for aggro/combat bases strats. And even then I dont think I'd ever want to tutor it instead of Sunforger or Skullclamp
lastly Chandra's Ignition is a 5 mana card that wipes our entire board other than 1 creature. Also if Guttersnipe isn't good enough for the deck at 2 mana deal 2. Than Chandra's Ignition wont ever make the cut as a 5 mana deal 3. If you want a nice boardwipe for small creatures than I reccomend running Pyroclasm

TwinStags Here goes:
Mentor of the Meek : You cast a spell, Young Pyromancer and Monastery Mentor trigger, you now have 2x 1/1 coming into play. Do you pay 2 colorless more to draw 2 cards? This is good in a token deck, but when you have a token deck you might as well be running Skullclamp where you are paying 1 colorless to draw 2 cards, way better value. Feather decks will be mana starved to begin with, spending as little mana as possible is the way to go.
Spawning Breath : This depends on what you are trying to get out onto the field. Something big with a lot of colorless? Or we you just trying to make more 0/1 creature tokens where you pump and attack? If so then this will combo off Zada, Hedron Grinder and get you a lot of 0/1 creature tokens. That is if your other tokens survive.
Leering Emblem : Run this only if you are going to go Spellslinger+Voltron. Because it is +2/+2 for each spell until end of turn. ChibiNature might be able to do the math for you to see if this is worth running in terms of CMC and equip cost.
Solemn Simulacrum : This is only worth if you are going to bounce it in and out of play to grab you lands, other wise 4 for a 2/2 is not worth.
Chandra's Ignition : Oh boy, I have a better card for you if you run tokens. Consider Soul's Fire cast onto Zada, Hedron Grinder and you having a billion tokens. It is ANY target, so even planeswalkers.
If you are going the token route I want you to take a look at Sword of Feast and Famine + Aggravated Assault or even Seize the Day cast onto Zada, Hedron Grinder for as many combat phases as you have creatures that are tapped at the moment of casting.

ChibiNature Can you look at my deck list and give some suggestions? I'm going against Zur a lot and the other decks run beefy creatures that grow big via +1/+1 counters and Atraxa, Praetors' Voice

aldrewelow Hi, how are you doing? Maybe I can answer your question for ChibiNature.
Isochron Scepter is great but will not trigger Paradox Engine , Zada, Hedron Grinder , Aetherflux Reservoir , Young Pyromancer , Monastery Mentor , and Runaway Steam-Kin .
The text says "You may copy the imprinted instant card and play the copy without paying the casting cost". The key is the word "COPY" and "PLAY", we want the word "CAST"
Hope this answers your question.

aldrewelow What would be funny is if we imprint Teferi's Protection onto Isochron Scepter and have full on retard protection for 2 colorless.
This deck actually has a "no lose" combo. Angel's Grace + Mistveil Plains + Sunforger .

VaalVanir Sure thing, I'll look into it later tonight :) . Off the top of my head, some cards you should add to help counter it is Grafdigger's Cage , Aven Mindcensor , and Rest in Peace are all good stax pieces to shut Zur down.
And to add to the Isochron Scepter discussion. It makes all of our 1 mana spells cost two mana, which is back breaking without Paradox Engine . But yes. the card not being actually CAST is horrible for the deck as well.

ChibiNature Oh wow, i'm actually really excited. It's like having a celebrity checking out my work. I would buy you a beer for checking out my deck list.
May 8, 2019 5:42 p.m.
VaalVanir ChibiNature Isochron scepter actually does cast the copies so it will trigger the paradox Engine and if you have mana rocks that produce 2 mana you get infinite casts... if your mana rocks produce 3 or more you get infinite mana as well
May 8, 2019 7 p.m.
And you also can't imprint Teferi's Protection because it has to be cmc 2 or less

All in all I'd say Isochron Scepter is another step to an already card to set up combo. It's nice when it goes off. But our color pie is already strapped as it is for ways to tutor combo pieces to our hands. I've never really felt myself wanting for more cards to cast once Paradox Engine hit the field. But if not being able to draw enough after my combo is set up becomes more of an issue in the future, I shall consider it more heavily.

It is on a very long list of cards that I need to test out in the future tho. So I shall have a more concrete opinion on the card in the future.

ChibiNature Have you seen this article?

I've been playing Aetherflux all wrong this whole time!

You know, now that I think about it I guess a lot of newer players wouldn't know about holding priority in order to break the storm counter system. Once I revamp the deck primer I'll add a paragraph in for that.

ChibiNature I have a question about Aetherflux Reservoir .
Situation: Unequip Sunforger to cast Enlightened Tutor to fetch Aetherflux Reservoir , then cast Bandage to draw Aetherflux Reservoir , cast Aetherflux Reservoir then cast Magnetic Theft .
Question: How much life do I gain off casting Magnetic Theft ? Does Aetherflux Reservoir count Enlightened Tutor , and Bandage so that casting Magnetic Theft gains me 6 life, for a total gain of 6 life?
May 9, 2019 2:22 p.m.
Alright, in a world where I can’t afford most of the mana rocks and since a lot of our creatures don’t do much besides exist, would Springleaf Drum or Paradise Mantle be viable in any way?
May 9, 2019 5:42 p.m.
ChibiNature says... #20
VaalVanir Casting Magnetic Theft in that instance would gain you 4 life. The only spells cast that turn were Enlightened Tutor , Bandage , Aetherflux Reservoir and Magnetic Theft . So when Magnetic Theft is cast, the storm counters goes to 4, and when it resolves you will gain 4 life.
TwinStags Springleaf Drum is an OK budget option since it untaps with Paradox Engine but I wouldn't go for Paradise Mantle . Some other budget inclusions for mana rocks are Gilded Lotus , Thran Dynamo , Prismatic Lens , Commander's Sphere , Fire Diamond , Marble Diamond or Mox Amber

ChibiNature Wow, I can't count. But you have answered my question. Thank you.
May 9, 2019 6:48 p.m.
ChibiNature How is Skullclamp working out for you? We only have 2 token generators in this deck so I imagine it is hard to get that "Draw

VaalVanir I'll most likely be replacing it with something like Oblation in the next wave of changes.

It's a pretty horrible card. Only works on our turn, costs an absurd 5 mana, 4/6 means it cannot be tutored. And most of all, when we do damage, we do 50, which just outright kills them so the mana becomes irrelevant. It is unfortunately super slow, and doesn't even compare to Braid of Fire which is still too slow for this deck to work.
VaalVanir says... #1
TwinStags I'm so sorry. Oblation Draws you two cards. And NOT two lands. Consider Skullclamp instead of Oblation to draw two cards. 1 colorless mana to equip and kill a token to draw two cards instead of 2 colorless and 1 white to exile a token and draw two cards.
When you run Heroic creatures you have a competition. Heroic creatures require you to cast a spell targeting them to trigger the effect. So if you have a pump spell would you target Zada, Hedron Grinder or Akroan Crusader , Vanguard of Brimaz , or Phalanx Leader ?
What if you have Defiant Strike , would you target Zada and draw an obscene amount of cards (1 for every creature on your board) or just Phalanx Leader to give every creature +1/+1 and draw 1 card?
Tough choices huh? I guess it depends on what spells you run, just don't run a mix of spells or you'll end up hating your luck on drawing the spells you need.
