Tokens can be fun. I like Tokens. You may not like Tokens, but you're weird. Me, I'm awesome. And so are Tokens.
I have a paper B/W Token deck that's not so budgety (Elspeth's Token Friends) but when it comes to MTGO I hesitate. I put money into the paper deck. Do I really want/need to spend another $200+ to play the same thing once in a while on MTGO? Where I'll probably only be playing casually anyway?
The answer in the long term is probably yes. Shiny things and all.
But in the short term I needed a budget solution. So this is what I threw together.
Unfortunately, to get cheap the biggest thing hurt was the mana base. No Godless Shrines, no Windbrisk Heights, no fetches (I mean, without the Shrine there really isn't much to fetch anyway). We also lose our Planeswalker friends. Goodbye, Elspeth, Knight-Errant and Sorin, Solemn Visitor. We hardly knew ye.
Duress goes in as the poor man's Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek. Path to Exile is out, Condemn and Mortify are in. We can still pump in the Anthems to boost our tokens and just enough hate to cause some grief.
The whole thing comes to around 20 tickets (Caves of Koilos are not 5 tickets each) which is right up my alley. And starts me on the path of the real deal, hoity-toity, expensive Tier 2 deck.
You like? You like. See, I knew you'd come around on tokens.
