Snap doesn't really do what I want it to do (can't hit lands) and isn't Modern legal. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

if you weren't running budget, would you suggest venser shaper savant?

and i would suggest taking out some land because the flaw of this deck is running out of cards in your hand and drawing land, allowing to let the other guy play some land himself, so a good substitute for that problem might be high tide because that basically doubles your land count with only one mana.

Venser is ok, but really not amazing because 4 mana is a lot. I think he would be good to replace Surging AEther, but if you want to lift the budget, Cryptic Command is really your best 4-drop, because it does everything. Also, I'd like to cut lands, but it's really important to be able to hit your first 3 drops, so I can't really afford to. Lastly, High Tide is also not Modern legal. Are you thinking of Legacy?

I've tested it a bit. It's really good if you an T2 Boomerang/Eye of Nowhere, but otherwise they're on 2 lands until at least T4 assuming you draw perfectly, which is enough that they can probably do something significant (like drop a Goyf). Also, fetchlands ruin us. It's OK when it works, but it's pretty terrible otherwise.

Of course, it's also a $10 deck that can occasionally beat decks that cost over 100 times more, so that's great

thank you so much for such a good idea. i think that a deck like this has a lot of potential in legacy.

Vapor Snag, Snapback, and Void Snare are my suggestions.

@loozar33: Those cards are decent, but they don't really do what this deck wants to do. What I'm trying to do with this deck is keep returning their lands to their hand so they can't play anything with CMC >1. Although those cards do bounce their permanents, they don't bounce the right permanents.
@homicidalfetus: Honestly, Reality Strobe is pretty bad. If there were another bounce spell I could use, I would be using it instead. Jace, Memory Adept just doesn't make sense here. I'm not trying to win by mill, and he's a pretty bad card even if I were.

how about them not being able to use their lands when they play them? Frozen AEther

Frozen AEther might be nice for if you can't start bouncing T2. I'll test it.

Yeah, I basically just want to be a terrible person without spending money for good cards. Thus I need to hit lands.

I would recommend some draw power. Nothing too expensive or flashy, just a few Divinations or perhaps some over time draw like Enclave Cryptologist or a bigger card like Opportunity. Because you need to bounce once per turn but still play your own lands, you'll run into trouble after a few turns when your bounces run out. My favorite draw card is Arcanis the Omnipotent but he doesn't quite fit the budget. He's not super expensive, but $3.00 is a lot for a $10 deck.
Looks like a very funny deck to play though. +1

I'm thinking about playing some draw effects, but I don't think I'll end up running out of bounce spells before I hit a win-con, and I don't like the fact that they are potentially dead. I'll probably end up adding another AEtherling, though. Thanks!

I would use those cards, but they both cost almost as much as the deck itself, which defeats the purpose.

try the card snap because it returns a creature to the owner's hand and even lets you untap two mana in this process, and the card is only 2 mana.
