It works if you run vapor snags, it's actually a 2 of in my iteration of the deck.

It's probably OK if you're running stuff like Vapor Snag, but as Figag said, you just don't have enough targets. If Wizards would just give us 1 or 2 functional Boomerang reprints, I would play it all day (side note: Come on Wizards. Extra Boomerangs is not going to break anything. Throw me a bone here).

It would make this deck 100% broken... lol, This deck is basically a cheaper version of timewalks

besides dragon's claw would be a good sideboard against red deck wins

You could play Delver of Secrets Flip, but it doesn't have built-in protection, and it doesn't close games as quickly. Also, I think Monastery Siege>>>Dragon's Claw, but I might switch them if Monastery Siege doesn't work for some reason.

because most red deck wins decks are quick and include 1/1 red one drops, dragons claw would be quicker and the life agin would shut down the 1 drop creatures and spells.

I just realized that Twiddle is modern legal, do think that might have a place here to help in the early game?

Also Gigadrowse is an even better option. haven't gotten a chance to test with this or Twiddle yet, but I'm wondering if this might really help with the early game quirks

I've tried them and they work ok. Better to have more boomerang. If you run this list Boomerangs with a Splash of White without Trinisphere then you will want Gigadrowse for early and even mid-game. If you build with Trinisphere, then you shouldn't need Gigadrowse because turn 1 land is tapped and turns 2+ always have a better spell.
Gigadrowse can also turn off Howling Mine if you ever need to do that. I guess if you hit the last 3-4 cards in your deck and haven't hit Elixir of Immortality and you don't want to self-mill, then you could. Or better yet, tap Howling Mine for your opponent's turn so they don't get the benefits while you still do. Good if you're digging for a Trinisphere and you don't want your opponent to draw extra cards and hit their aggro creatures and burn.

Well I finally got to run it this last FNM and sadly my inexperience I lost with but I did get every opponent to be baffled at what the hell I was doing. 3 rounds and I managed to get 1 game win and see now how I should be doing it. Though I did laugh at my luck when on an archivist activation they were able to drop 4x Loxodon Smiters onto the field. Hurt but was funny. Think I am going to take some more of your advice and swap up a few things. One thing is what would you think of swapping Aether Tradewinds in for Surging Aether? Not too keen on the Ripple and is 1cc less though we'd bounce a land too.

What is your current list? Is it exactly what is here or have you optimized it to your own liking? If you don't yet, I'd try running Trinisphere if you can afford a playset. It's the best card to bring this deck from annoying to actually semi-decent. Good luck!

It's exactly what you have listed. And after this last FNM i could see how that Trinisphere could make it even more aggrivating. Will have to find some. What would you recommend swapping it for?(sorry if said above work computer is having issues loading parts of the site.)

First I would pull the Ebony Owl Netsuke for 1 more AEtherize, relplace Surging AEther with Trinisphere, and if you want a very solid list replace AEtherling, 1 land, and Dictate of Kruphix for 4 Howling Mine and 2 Fog Bank for 2 Shorecrasher Elemental. The elemental isn't necessary, but sometimes helpful so if you already have 2 throw them in, but otherwise don't bother.
More swaps can be made based on your meta, like if there's any mill decks add in 3 Elixir of Immortality in the sideboard.
That's the best list that I have found, but the version I am building is going to splash white for some lifegain in the sideboard for extra help against aggro decks. My list is Boomerangs with a Splash of White.
This deck isn't actually mine, but I think it's so cool that I feel obliged to respond to every comment. Programmer_112 gets all of the credit for the deck.

How have you managed to beat Modern decks that rely on 1-drops mostly? Waiting for Aetherize and Plumeveil? What do you switch Plumeveil for in your deck? How about running some Gut Shots to get rid of the one drops with 2 life?

Jarora: In my opinion, you can't unless you play Trinisphere. It's the universal 'I hate you' card for low curve decks. It is the card that beats the 1 mana spell decks (assuming you're not dead when you finally play it) because once it hits the field, if you have enough draw, your opponent cannot cast cards with the exception of delve and cards that activate when they're discarded.

I took this to FNM. I could not beat decks with search lands and 1-drop creatures. If you do not draw a Boomerang or Eye of nowhere in T1 OR they play either a Search Land or a 1-drop creature on their T1, it is too hard to get back on track. Considering we only have Aetherling and if lucky Jaces Archivist to destroy the litle guys, they end up screwing you 1 life at a time.
April 19, 2015 2:34 p.m.
Although, bah-bammmm might be right with that Delver of Secrets he mentioned earlier. That way, say he gets his 1-drop in T1. After T3, I can bounce back with a 2-mana and Summon him for 1 all while transforming him. Storm Crow could also work but Delver seems much better in this case.

storm crow is the joke card. i would get delver of secrets thats the best 1 drop.
April 19, 2015 3:01 p.m.
Maybe instead of removing Aetherling, remove 1x Dictate of Kruphix. Its high mana cost considering we MUST bounce back a land every turn therefore that will only help later in the game. Also: like Figag did in his splash white deck, run 4x less Islands and 4x Radiant Fountain because why not. 8 life just for the lols.

Can only be used with Boomerang and it ruins the budget of this deck. Everything else is a cmc=3 or a sorcery, so it doesn't work very well in here.
