delver is the best option

Yes I agree with you, bah-bammmm. What I meant was instead of removing Aetherling for Delver, Remove Dictate for Delver.

April 19, 2015 3:21 p.m.

Delver of Secrets  Flip is no doubt very good. In this version it definitely belongs. If you are willing to build a more expensive deck, then move to to the side for Trinisphere.

I agree with removing AEtherling and other cards for 4 Delver in this deck because it's just as good of a wincon except that it's very useful in the first few turns of the game. I would actually pull 4 Surging AEther and then run 1 more Dictate of Kruphix or perhaps

Again, with budget Dictate of Kruphix is fine, but Howling Mine is much better. It's actually useful because a turn 2 mine followed by a turn 3 Trinisphere is really good. You will win every time if that happens.

On a side note, Programmer_112 it's looking like time to clear the comments. So much scrolling!

i say ditch the dictate of kruphix entirely and just put in more elixirs.

the archivist does enough draw.

April 19, 2015 3:28 p.m.

I disagree. Jace's Archivist draws you an entire deck once you've stabilized. But before turn 4-5 he isn't enough. This deck needs to play 2-3 cards every turn to keep up with the opponent so we need to literally race through our deck as fast as possible to play as many cards as possible.

Every deck needs to answer the threats the opponent produces, or make their own bigger threat. The bigger threat is not an option in this deck, so we need to answer every threat of our opponent. In this case though, the opponent's lands are the biggest threat they have. And because we only bounce them, they are literally playing 1 threat every turn without losing card advantage. Because we need to play our own nonlands as well as lands, we have to be drawing minimum 2 cards per turn - a land and a bounce - so our opening 7 card hand has to last long enough to get a draw engine on the field. Without the drawing capabilities of an early card such as Dictate of Kruphix, we've already lost.

Even though Jace's Archivist is at drawing us cards, he isn't enough in the early game due to basic removal and the fact that we only have 4 in the entire deck. I prefer having 8 draw engines because it's much more reliable.

bah-bammmm says... #7

you wont need draw engines if you are swinging for 3 each turn and nothing can stop you because of delver.

April 19, 2015 3:49 p.m.

But what about any 1 mana removal? There's a lot of 1 and 2 mana cards that kill delver instantly. It's a good card, but not if we don't have the field locked.

April 19, 2015 4:38 p.m.

My playtesting suggested that delver isn't very good, the only matchups where he is necessarily good, they have too many 1 mana removals.

Some suggestions for possible creature-based win conditions, Lone Revenant? If you don't have an Archivist it allows you to set up more bounces and is immune to removal, also Invisible Stalker as a potential Delver of Secrets  Flip replacement? Mana Leak is very good in this deck as well because with all the land bouncing they usually will not be able to pay .

If you're going to splash white I would recommend Dragonlord Ojutai as he can hit for 5 every turn and set up more bounces.

I know this deck isn't but Assault Strobe + Brute Force + Cephalid Constable is just ridiculous.

Hey everyone,

Ive been playing with a more expensive version of this deck on local events in my town, and I got 2 third places out of 6 tournments (modern).

Now i want to try another deck so I am selling my monoblue bouncelands version. 75% of the deck are foil cards (no foil lands). In case you are interested to buy it send me an e-mail at [email protected]

Thanks programmer112, its really a fun deck to play with.

What's the list? I might be interested, not sure yet. Also depends on the cost of the foiled version.

Wanted to check back on this thread and see if anyone has tried out Day's Undoing? Seems like it is a markable upgrade over Jace's Archivist as long as you're not trying to go the mill route. Anyone tried it out in a list like this? I think I might, but wanted to see if someone beat me to the punch

I have not yet playtested this deck (but for 2 tix on mtgo i certainly will) so take my suggestion with a pinch of salt... what about Sphinx's Tutelage as a win-con? Sickening combo with Jace's Archivist and you are already sort of on the mill plan?

So I have been looking at this deck for a while and I finally decided to get it. I have not play tested this deck much but I have play tested against my friends Rack deck. They were equally matched, until he would turn 1 duress me, ridding my Jaces archivist or Dictate of Kruphix. So I would slow him down, but I would then be helpless. However, it's very rare when somebody beats his deck. Note; I sideboarded out my surging aethers and resounding waves with the mana leaks and monastery sieges. Anyway, I'm just saying this deck is great and users beware a good rack deck.

It's a decent deck, but not tournament viable.

I think Thing in the Ice  Flip would be another great win condition especially since its casting cost is only 2 mana.

Why not instead of the Storm Crow run Invisible Stalker for better survivability?

I don't generally play blue very much, but this deck looks like a fun deck to whip out to annoy people with.

have you thought about running Spreading Seas and/or Sea's Claim, they basically are land destruction against non blue decks

Maybe 4x Isochron Scepter, with Boomerang on turn 2 is a GG

I know this is an old deck but have you consider either

Cryptic Serpent, Curious Homunculus  Flip, Thing in the Ice  Flip or Disciple of the Ring as finishers over aeatheling also Pull from Tomorrow might be a solid card draw engine for late game
