My Meren of Clan Nel Toth edh deck. This deck is one of my most favorite decks to play and has garnered a ton of hate with my play group.

Generally I do not like to turn creatures sideways and swing out for damage. I prefer to win through attrition of resources. Kill off your enchantments, artifacts. This can be done through Caustic Caterpillar , Acidic Slime , or Viridian Zealot . The other way I prefer to win is through the commbo of Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest and Altar of Dementia . This combo can get out of hand very quickly with Panharmonicon and cards like Avenger of Zendikar or Terastodon add it Extractor Demon and we got a ton of mill going on. Use your own resources as fodder to kill your opponents.

We also like to abuse enter the battlefield abilities. To help with this we have Mikaeus, the Unhallowed to give our things undying and also Panharmonicon to trigger our enter the battlefield abilities twice. One of the better panharmonicon combos in this deck is with Rune-Scarred Demon where we get to tutor twice!!!

This deck also loves its tutors. Be it for land or for any card with our various tutor options. And when you run out of tutors in your library we can abuse Merens recursion ability with Eternal Witness to get our tutors back and continue tutoring! It isn't uncommon for a typical game to use the same tutor card for 5 or 6 turns in a row before someone is able to answer us.

Since we want things to hit our graveyard we have various sac outlets. These are Fleshbag Marauder , Altar of Dementia , Disciple of Griselbrand , Viscera Seer , highmarket, Westvale Abbey   and to a lesser extent Eldrazi Monument . Would love to add in Ashnod's Altar or even Birthing Pod but not sure which cards to cut for them as everything I currently have works well together.

As with any Meren deck we need to make our opponents suffer for our creatures dying so often. As such we have the staples of Dictate of Erebos , grave pack and Butcher of Malakir . One of the other major punishments, especially in 1v1, is the recursion of Spore Frog . This wonderful little guy has given my meta many problems if they don't have a way to exile him from my graveyard. A must have imo for any Meren deck.

The major plan of this game is recursion. We want lots of it to abuse our enter the battlefield effects and our sac effects. Te best and most obvious of these cards Reanimate . This is an all star and cant be beat. turn 1/2 Sheoldred? Yes please! (this depends on your own deck if you have a way to get 3 mana turn one and have Entomb which i don't have but I do have the more expensive version in Buried Alive , in Meren these function more as tutors for us). But we also have our walking reanimate in Phyrexian Delver . Victimization to get 2 creatures at the cost of one creature. The recurring reanimate of Ever After . Sepulchral Primordial to reanimate one creature from each of our opponents (this works even better with Panharmonicon as we get 2 creatures from our opponents, the more opponents the more creatures!)And finally our less than steller but more flavorful recursion in Deadbridge Chant .

The main upgrades I am pursiuing for this deck are in the land base. I hope to acquire Bayou , Verdant Catacombs , Llanowar Wastes , and Twilight Mire in the future to get rid of some of these less than fabulous tap lands.
