Enchantment (1)

Salutations, welcome to the only Izzet deck I actually enjoyed building.

This deck operates under a very simple idea: You start every single game with a 2-drop ramp spell in your hand. The Red Death can goad basically any turn 1, 2 or even 3 play from any other player and ramp by 1 red mana. This allows you to cast 4-mana spells on turn 3.

What 4-mana spells? It's basically just ramp! At 4 mana, we get access to 2-mana rocks and other comparable ramp (like Solemn). If we curve out ideally, we untap, play a land and have with 7 mana on turn 4. This deck effectively doesn't run any other setup cards, since the Commander launches us really far ahead.

This brings us the the secret sauce: Cascade and Discover. Every 5-mana cascade or discover spell will hit another 2-mana rock to boost us even further. 6-mana cascade will usually cascade into a 5-mana cascade and get a rock, etc.

What do we spend all this mana on? Big beefy bombs. Yes, our deck - despite being Blue/Red - is a creature deck! We have a Strength matters theme, which rewards us for casting and playing Power 5 and greater creatures to do additional damage. A bunch of our bombs also have cast triggers, which trigger again on every cascade and discover. And if our little crab survives all of this setup, we can use him to annoy opponents by goading their biggest beaters into hitting other players.

This deck is really fun and outside of the landbase, very affordable.

Tricks:

Tidal Force: It can untap the Commander for extra goads or untap manarocks to have interaction up.

Whir of Invention: In hand, this card can use excess mana to tutor up a Gearhulk for more threat. But if you end up cascading into it, you can fetch Sol Talisman or Great Furnace + Seat of the Synod + Silverbluff Bridge because X = 0.

Ovika, Enigma Goliath can use every cascade card to quickly create an army of Goblins to overrun your opponents.
