You need a way to get your creatures through. Without them dying. So that you get Renown and can actually play the deck properly. The deck is pretty nuts when you're drawing cards from Valeron Wardens and seeing as how the card's ability is the new form of Eidolon of Blossoms mono card draw we have to take advantage of it!

For this purpose I suggest Break Through the Line. In a deck like this it's better to have enablers than finishers such as Purphoros, God of the Forge. You want things to bring the whole deck online am I right? You also want 4x Valeron Wardens.

Also right now you don't have enough targets for Chord of Calling. I understand you may be waiting for more renown to be printed and while that's possible I don't think the mechanic will be as beloved as prowess is. So look into adding some more of the ones already printed, enough to get to 26 targets for CoCo.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I do hope there will be more renown printed. I will definitely test out Break Through the Line.

Personally, I think you should replace the Knight of the Pilgrim's Road with Topan Freeblade. It comes down a turn sooner, is on curve with the Valeron Wardens, and has vigilance. knight has one more power, but i think the vigilance is more relevant with all the aggressive decks running around standard right now.

Yeah, I was thinking about him I just wasn't sure where to put him.

I played a R/W Renown deck in the prerelease and it was a blast as an agro deck. definintely has potential. I agree the Topan Freeblade is a better choice for an aggressive deck from what experience I saw of it at the PR. Scab-Clan Berserker is incredibly good, I would keep a spare set of 2 in your SB because it makes removal and control strategies painful to use against you, as well as lock out the coming Enchantment decks that will be coming in this set. otherwise, looks good. Evasion is the real name of the game in this one. Something I used to get my guys through on later turns when I had the mana but not as many spells was Rogue's Passage.

Yeah, that's what it seems likes; Topan Freeblade looks pretty good. I may add 2 Scab-Clan Berserkers to the side board just for the control match up. I feel Rogue's Passage requires too much mana and it might be a good late game plan, if I haven't killed them yet, but I'm not entirely sure how beneficial it will be for me.

Trample is another route to take, so cards like Tread Upon worked well for me to get that renown to fire, especially early game when you are more likely being blocked by smaller creatures so that 2/2 becoming a 4/4 trample still gets through enough to benefit. It obviously doesn't works as well as straight evasion especially in heavier match ups but it can get that early boost and does well in Mirror Matches and weenie decks.

I was going to go the trample route, but that was before I took out Awaken the Bear. I may add Tread Upon to the sideboard for those aggro decks.

Actually as I'm sitting here looking at my own potential build of this, Goblin Heelcutter may be fantastic for this. I'm crafting this deck based on my pool from the PR.

I'm not sure if I want Goblin Heelcutter and I feel like Frenzied Goblin would be a better choice if I went with this kind of route.

maybe Kytheon's Irregulars would be a good fit in this deck, as it can tap the threats if you need to get your creatures through and you don't have Break Through the Line out. Also, I think Hardened Scales in this deck would be hilarious.

I feel like Kytheon's Irregulars is too high of a drop to be aggro, but the tap ability is nice. Also Hardened Scales would be hilarious. One drops become 3/3's it's crazy. I just don't know what to take out.

It's too bad Stromkirk Noble isn't in standard. It'd be hilarious if he got a reprint in BFZ! I've heard good things about renowned decks, so I might have to look into one eventually.

Outland Colossus is super good, even as a 5-cost 6/6 with upside. Try it out!

EDIT: I also have a deck, check it out!

I don't know what I would replace though. Maybe Citadel Castellan or Scab-Clan Berserker.

I'm wondering if it'd be worth it to toss in an Abzan Falconer to make all of your renowned creatures have flying. Standard doesn't really have an answer for heavy flying atm, except for Izzet Thopters.

The enchantment is working as I had hoped it would and that is great. I noticed that Mighty Leap is great for blocking flyers and going over peoples heads to trigger renown. I have a replacement though: Center Soul.

Vs Drown in Sorrow and Languish the card Mighty Leap is definitely better.

Vs any kind of burn, Hero's Downfall, Ultimate Price, Murderous Cut, Dromoka's Command and Bile Blight the card Center Soul is better.

This is sort of a meta call and you need to know if your opponent has access to Drown in Sorrow and Languish to know if it's safe to play Center Soul. But if it is safe to play it, the card does more work.

Abzan Falconer would be nice, but I still have to hit the renown triggers for him to take effect. Hitting the triggers is where I feel I am lacking. I was thinking of trying to incorporate trample within this deck for the earlier turns. As far as Center Soul goes it would be good, but I am unsure of my meta until FNM this week. I might have to do some testing with it though.

Well, if nothing else, side board! Run Center Soul, then if it looks like it's not working out, board it between rounds for Mighty Leap. Simple as that! Not sure what to take out of your sideboard for a couple copies of it, but that'd be my suggestion.

Yeah, I could do that. Thanks for the feedback!

I do like the scry from Gods Willing, but I like the rebound effect from Center Soul. I will have to test it and see which one is a better fit for this deck. Also I may try Feat of Resistance because of the interaction with Hardened Scales; I'm not sure yet haha.

I see where you are coming from. I'll probably use Gods Willing until it cycles out. Also I won't make changes until after FNM tomorrow just to see how it does.
