Thanks very much for the suggestions :).
I did start out with 4 Assemble the Legion , but I got clog, same with 3 (esp against Aggro). 2 means I see if often enough, but it rarely clogs, and the 3rd comes in for the Control matchup.
My original list was basically a Control deck, but I wanted a more Midrange build.
I could see myself attempting to put in 2 Magma Jet , but space it kinda tight as it is. Any suggestions on what I could cut?
Thassa, God of the Sea , not really a fan of in this. I feel I'd need to change it up so I could actually turn her on so I could get the most out of her.
I feel like I need to slightly speed this up, but not by much. Say a combination of 3 between Soldier of the Pantheon , Precinct Captain and Magma Jet .
I can see kinda Blind Obedience coming out of the Main (to Side pref), but need to do some more testing before I'm sure.

I did Have him in my original build. He was one of my last cuts when I decided to try the White engine out (which I loving). Again, same reasoning as to why Thassa, God of the Sea isn't in, but yes, you are right.
My original was running 4 Frostburn Weird , 4 Boros Reckoner and 2 Purphoros, God of the Forge .
If I went for the Red Devotion, what would you suggest I put in so I can keep up the speed/aggro early while keeping up the pressure?
January 9, 2014 9:29 p.m.
Tbh you don't even have to get his devotion active. Just his passive ability should kill.

corranhorn01 says... #6
Yes, it should, I'll give you that one.
I guess I just like to get the most out of the cards I play. If I'm only going to be using him for his passive, then he is just part of a 2 card combo that can't stand alone. This adds in inconsistency (to me anyway).

I'll test out -2 Heliod, God of the Sun +2 Purphoros, God of the Forge tonight, but with the same list otherwise.

Went through a lot of game with some changes. I am REALLY loving them. Updated

To be honest all of the gods are good even if they're not creatures. Most people that I play against put them out and don't worry too much about the devotion count. In fact, by not having the devotion, you protect them from a lot of removal that gets around indestructible such as -1/-1 effects and sacrifices. I think the only real one that deals with all gods in standard right now is Fade into Antiquity .

That is true.
Any suggestions for my land base? I feel it is slightly off.

Been going really well at my locals with 2 2-2 finishes (one of those with the Heliods) and a 4-0 (beating monoblack).
My side board needs work though. And I also need to figure out how to side.
Post BotG, I'd like to add in the Ephara, God of the Polis and I think that's about it.

What I would do is cut the Anger of the Gods and get a playset of Supreme Verdict because Anger says maybe I kill them while Verdict says they are all dead. Also I would try to find room for another Detention Sphere and at least three Dissolve since you don't have any counter and you probably want to have counters. Here is my R/U/W deck if you want to take a look. I am conistiantly placing high at FNM but it is a way different build but it may help. America's Foreign Policy

Thanks for the comment and ideas!
I am iffy on the Anger of the Gods , haven't been able to get the testing I've wanted to get yet. My theory behind it is with the new set, there will be a lot of aggro/ramp decks which Anger destroys (to a point), and also while it does that, the only things it hits in mine are Reckoner (which gives me and extra 3 dmg to something) and tokens.
I'm liking the 3 Sphere's and 2 Rocks as they are. I have enough exile to cover most things imo.
If I went the counter route, it'd probably be 2 Syncopate and 1 Dissolve as Syncopate hits relevant 3 drops on the draw (Thassa, God of the Sea , etc). I do want to find room for them though.
Your build does look fun :). However, I'm going for a more midrange strategy over control.
The current changes I am debating are:-1 Reckoner-3 Anger (move 2 of them to my side)+3 counter spells+1 Verdict
Thanks again for the feedback :)

A very fun card comes to mind after seeing this, Lightning Volley . I know it probably won't get a spot, but with the brimaz tokens, elspeth tokens, and assemble the legion tokens, you could do some serious damage.

Oh wow lol. That would be fun. I think it's a bit too reliant on other cards unfortunately :/.
Went to my local event tonight. Had a great time. I played Precinct Captain instead of Brimaz, King of Oreskos and guildgates over the Temple of Enlightenment due to BotG not being 'out' yet.
R1 vs RW Heroic
G1 was back and forth with my winning after he mulled to 5 and started slow. I resolved an Assemble and nearly ulted both Jace, Architect of Thought and Elspeth, Sun's Champion .
Neither of us touched our side
G2 I shouldn't've won, but he got colour screwed. I Sphinx's Revelation for 1 and his next attack got me to 1... then I just took over the board with a Supreme Verdict > Boros Reckoner > Anger of the Gods > Stormbreath Dragon
R2 vs GR Bloodrush (I think that's what you'd call it)
G1 I curved out AMAZINGLY. T2 Precinct Captain > T3 Boros Reckoner > T4 Purphoros, God of the Forge and T5 Stormbreath Dragon for the kill.
Sided +2 Mizzium Mortars +1 Supreme Verdict -1 Elspeth, Sun's Champion -1 Assemble the Legion -1 Stormbreath Dragon
G2 went T2 Precinct Captain > T3 Boros Reckoner > T4 Boros Reckoner and T5 Precinct Captain > T6 Stormbreath Dragon for the kill.
R3 vs Jund Midrange
G1 he started fast and had removal for my early drops and ulted Domri Rade
Sided +2 Pithing Needle +1 Supreme Verdict +1 Mizzium Mortars +1 Assemble the Legion -4 Precinct Captain -1 Anger of the Gods
G2 I got mana screwed and then after missing 2 land drops, just kept drawing land.
Then I had to drop to get to basketball.
All in all, I'm really happy with how it performed!

Looking at some small changes. Mainly not mainboarding Anger (putting 2 in side) and only main boarding 1 Mizzium (siding 3). Going up to 3 Verdirct in the main board and also trying out 2 Last Breath .
This has come after a discussion with one of the better players at my local event, who knows what the big tournaments are like (GPs). However, I am unsure on the changes.
Changes are:
Mainboard
-3 Anger of the Gods -1 Mizzium Mortars +2 Last Breath +2 Supreme Verdict
Sideboard
-1 Supreme Verdict -2 Negate (Gainsay basically does the same thing) +2 Anger of the Gods +1 Mizzium Mortars

Made top 4 at GP Melb Trials. Top 4 was this and 3 G/R Monsters. Lets just say I need to really work on my G/R matchup, a LOT. The match was over by T5 both games (it didn't help that I didn't draw monsters) and then we split 3rd and 4th.
Does anyone have any tips for dealing with the matchup?
Also, looking to possibly slightly change up my build to make it a little faster.

Complete update. Running the smoothest it ever has. Only lost 2 games last night at my locals, both to G/R Monsters playing in the finals, however they were both really close games!
Only choice I am not sure about right now is swapping 1 Anger of the Gods to the main and 1 Mizzium Mortars to the side

Decided to revamp this for the current format. After a few games last night, I wish I'd never got rid of the deck. It's working really well. I went 3-0 against a Bloodrush deck and 2-1 (flooded out) against G/W block.
Mainboard Anger of the Gods is working really well!

Has been testing really well! Rarely had colour screw or mana issues so far. Only lost 1 game out of ~8, and that was due to flooding.

Got a lot more testing in recently. I am absolutely loving the Anger, Ephara and Keranos!!
I went 4-3 against a block Naya deck the other day. My losses were basically due to Stormbreath. I always managed to get rid of the first 1-2, but I couldn't deal with the 3rd-4th. The late game 'gas' that Ephara and Keranos provide is stupid!
I also went 1-1 against Rats.deck. With my loss being due to a couple of misplays on my part, which I realised right after I did them and then got blown out by Bile Blight a couple of times (hitting ~14 and ~12 tokens each time).
I'm sure people have some ideas for this. It's not perfect. I still feel like something is slightly off, but I can't figure out what.

Took this to locals last night. Went 2-2.
R1 vs Junk Constellation (Manabloom combo)G1 Was close, but didn't draw enough threats
G2 Drew threats, but he had all the Downfalls and Bile Blights. I was also stuck on 4 mana with Stormbreath and Elspeth in hand for a few turns.
R2 vs Junk Constellation (aggro)G1 My threats stuck and he got 3 for 1ed with a D.Sphere.
G2 He opened nuts and killed me turn 5 or 6
G3 I stuck threats and he had no answers. He was topping double Downfall the 2 turns after I killed him.
R3 vs Wu AggroG1 Reckoner, Captain and Anger are cards
G2 He opened the nuts and I stumbled on mana after a mull
G3 I opened one of the best hands this deck can offer. 3 Land, Ephara, Captain, Birmaz and Reckoner. Drawing into 2 Reckoner, Captain, D. Sphere and Land.
R4 vs UWR ControlG1 He nearly decked himself out. The minimal number threats I drew were under D. Sphere or had been countered and he had Assemble going. Long story short, I got walled really hard by a couple of Jace AoT.
G2 I was stuck on 4 lands for 4-5 turns. With a Stormbreath and Assemble in hand. I managed to bait out all the counters and stuck the Stormbreath, but he had the Verdict.
I was really salty after this. Over the 2 games where I saw a lot of cards, I saw 4 Ephara, 2 Keranos, 4 Reckoners, 1 Assemble, 2 Captains and 1 Stormbreath as my only threats along with 1 Rev (countered), no D. Sphere, etc for his Walkers.
I think I've figured out what's wrong with the deck too. It's unfocussed.Changes I'm looking at:+4 Soldier of the Pantheon +1 Stormbreath (probs to side)+1 Brimaz+1 Heliod
-2 Chained-1 Turn/Burn-1 D. Sphere-1 Assemble
And definitely changing my board

Dakra Mystic is a bit more controlling. I'd imagine you'd never swing with it. But it's cheap, generates card advantage and controls draws. Perfect tool to shoot you into the mid game plays.
Id also replace Heliod with another purphoros, seeing as you're playing the token game and tokens equals damages. Vigilance on tokens isn't that good as you'd rather attack than chump with them anyway.
I'd also swap anger of the gods for 2 more mizzium mortars. As you're doing more damage to your game plan with that aswell. The 2 sideboard slots you'd open up could become another banishing light and another assemble the legion maybe?

Thanks for the suggestion. I'd actually skipped over that card when looking for things. It is a good idea. The only thing I'm worried about it with it is I don't really want U as my first mana source. I guess Fountain would be ok, but I prefer W. My ideal opening hand manawise is W/R W/R Basic.
The issue with Purphoros is that it's a 'combo' piece that does absolutely nothing by itself. That's the reason he's in there (tokens). The reason I'm trying out Heliod is that a Vigilance Dragon/Reckoner is really scary, My permanent base is mainly W and he actually does stuff by himself with his (inefficient) token generation. I get where you're coming from with Vigilance on tokens, but from experience (tokens are my most played deck type), Vigilance mass tokens are scary.
My reasoning with Anger is that while it will hit Captain and Reckoner (not necessarily a bad thing) and tokens, it is an amazing card against Aggro and Ramp strategies, which makes up most of the meta atm. I'd hit my own Captain (after swinging of course) on T3 if they had a decent board.
If I moved Anger from the main, I'd be boarding it.
To summarise:I'll test Mystic and the 2nd PurphorosAnger is testing really well, but I can see your argument. It's my 'hate tech' against the current meta. If it continues to test well, then it'll stay, if not, it'll get cut.

If you're looking to stall or dig to get Assemble the Legion out, I'd use scry mechanics or Sphere of Safety . Scry will let you dig quickly through your deck for it and the Sphere will help you stall to get it out.
However, if neither looks good to you, I'd bump Assemble the Legion to a 4-of since you did create this deck around it. Thassa, God of the Sea is great for the constant scry, and Magma Jet is always a decent burn spell when you work with scry.
