Hi Odysseus_97

I think the new Liliana fits nice into the deck, but mostly for her -2 ability. The -1 won't hit so much I guess, since we aren't running that much viable targets. I have played quite a lot games and either you have like 10 zombies and prepare to kill the table or have like 1-2. In both cases the -2 isn't much useful. In my deck I cutted Black Market a long time ago. I think it's very underperforming. For the land: If you play MP only, it's an auto include!

This deck is really sweet :D, but a card I think you should recommend a little card called Countervailing Winds. This counterspell really combos with the mill strategy and good cycling if not needed!

Josu Vess, Lich Knight MUST go in this deck. It's one of the greatest zombie droppers in recent history! For 10 mana, you get eight 2/2s AND and 4/5 with menace. They're all zombies!

Final Parting is a great tutor card for any deck with graveyard play. It might deserve a home in here as well.

Geralf's Messenger is probably the only missing undying creature I would recommend. It adds a lot of black devotion for Gary the Merchant too, which could be a nice bonus.

I thought of Unearth immediately after posting my last comment. Ugh. It's a one-off trick, which isn't always great in commander, but it's still useful. Might be worthy.

Geralf's Mindcrusher is a decent miller and undyer too. I swear I won't think of another card in the next 5 minutes...

Joe9 My deck is based on this here and the only viable choice would be your tutor would be Final Parting since sonetimes the GYs are too empty. Any other card you mention...sorry just for undying and having some Beatsticks? Decent Zombies..we need stuff that changes board states. That's not decent. Josh is okay at least. Once I am settled up I keep 4/6/8 Mana open and end of turns I exile into stuff. Otherwise, Counterspell or instant protection. So I'd never dump all the mana I have into so many zombies. This screams for a boardwipe. If you hit the mill road pretty hard I'd suggest some Eldrazis. ;) I get too much hate for that.

I just realized that I misread Geralf's Messenger. It only targets one opponent for the 2 damage instead of all opponents. My bad. I take back that recommendation. What's wrong with Unearth? It hits 12 out of 22 creatures in this deck. It essentially gives those 12 creatures flashback for only one black mana. While Plague Belcher is the only creature among those 12 which would come back stronger when brought back with Unearth than with The Scarab God , Unearth still costs 3 less mana. Plus, it can cycle and it doesn't exile the spells. It simply brings them back.

Since Josu Vess's kicker cost can only be paid when its cast from your hand (a.k.a. useless in The Scarab God's eyes), he's almost useless in the graveyard. That's true, but I've had a lot of fun with him in recent weeks. He's a bomb that, when kicked in a standard or modern game, almost always made my opponents scoop. We can agree to disagree about Josu Vess's worthiness as a mana sync. For me, his flavor makes him worthy.

Have you considered Helm of the Host?

Hi VexenX

With a new product coming out (Game Nights, 5x 60 card decks, Release: 16. November), they have printed Rot Hulk.

5BB

Creature - Zombie

5/5

When Rot Hulk enters the battlefield, return up to X target Zombie cards from your graveyard to the battlefield, where X is the number of opponents you have.

Seems to be really amazing, getting 3 zombies from your graveyard for 7 mana :)

Sorry for the long silence. I have made quite a few changes over the last few months, but I kept forgetting to update the Primer! I'll list them below, then go ahead and update everything else! I also like the new Rot Hulk, but I am not sure what I want to take out yet.

COMING OUT!

GOING IN!

Nice deck list, i just started brewing around scarab god myself! I will be including Blood Artist Zulaport Cutthroat and Carnival of Souls for testing was wondering your thoughts i know they aint zombies but the cheap cost and aristocrat style drains seems to synergize with our strategy also will try Bontu's Monument Ashnod's Altar and Nim Deathmantle... Pitiless Plunderer is also pretty sweet in a very mana taxing list like this!

VexenX says... #14

I think all the Blood Artist effects are more at home in a deck like Izoni, Thousand-Eyed (or anything for that matter, the ramp/reanimate), which is all about going super wide with expendable tokens/creatures. Although it is nice to have them as an insurance policy for board wipes, that is not normally enough to kill with this deck. My typical games consist of 5-10 tokens at best, which I dont think is enough to put these types are cards into the deck. This deck always has mana you want to spend, so snacking and recasting is not really a goal for my turn. The reanimate in the deck is more for bounceback and punishing removal more then it is for the decks synergy.

I am not really trying to sack my own stuff with this deck. Although this deck can definitely win off combo of gone in that direction, but that is not my goal here.

Thanks for the comment! Hope this helps with tour build!

I wonder why still people play Phyrexian Arena There are so many better options in those colors. I added Mnemonic Betrayal instead. Does more and it's really fun to play.

mikeintosh no offence, but Arena is way better. I can see why a situational sorcery like that might look cool, but is can also just be a dead card. If I tutor early game, I almost always get Arena.

Below I have listed cards from Most to least likely to get added to the deck. It all depends if I can find room for them, but I thought they were at least worth considering. Let me know what you think! What should I cut?

@VexenX

All Other cards I can sum up: It really doesnt make something better as the existing cards so you can try but I wouldnt test too much. I mean, some effects are really nice, but they are too dependend on special situations.

Do you think Endling is really worth it been thinking on that..? Thoughts?

June 23, 2019 12:38 a.m.

man1ac says... #20

Its a good card for sure. But it doesn't synergise with the other cards. It doesn't make anything stronger, it's just a really neat blocker in my opinion. You will want menace as for unblockable. But you won't need that, except making damage. With 10 2/2 Zombies that's not needed. Deathtouch on the other hand will mostly keep guys from attacking you. That's nice too. I really don't like the Undead Alchemist and would test the card on that slot...

THCue says... #21

Yeah same thought it just don't have enough going for it.

I put in every other card above besides the Prismatic Vista .

Removed the following and still testing...

Graveborn Muse Kills me sometimes and very risky

Josu Vess, Lich Knight Almost never do the overload deffo a late game card

Relentless Dead Never really use his abilities

Sidisi, Undead Vizier cutting more search we already have 2 others that are better.

Mana Vault alwasy once used almost never gonna pay the mana card is bleh imo

think i did some other changes gotta remember now but yea that's what i did so far. Is is one of my oldest edh decks and is 75-80% foil it's been around and won quite a bit. Enjoy it alot!

ShutUpMokuba says... #22

Josu Vess, Lich Knight is not good because without the overload is really poor.

On the other hand Undead Alchemist is actually good in my humble opinion because creatures that hit the graveyard from library gets exiled. There is a mill sub-theme in the deck and without this card i would then replace all the other mill cards.

Liliana, Dreadhorde General is nice, probably not essential here since the draw compartment is already sweet (maybe could replace Graveborn Muse since is a risky cards sometimes). Her ultimate is super solid and can win matches so may deserve a try.

Gleaming Overseer and Eternal Skylord are good. Probably not in this list because it already has the best zomby creatures available so it would be hard to find a spot for them. I personally don't like really much Fleshbag Marauder honestly because often your opponents have a creature they can sacrifice without hesitation like a token or something like that but it's a solid card obviously.

Prismatic Vista is great and could make the spot.

You left out an "infinite" combo.

Gravecrawler+Rooftop Storm+Grimgrin

Infinite untaps with grimgrin and make him as big as you want.

Also grimgrin can be a sac. outlet for infinite life loss with the appropriate zombies out.
