i dont think Crypt Ghast is legal in this deck because the extort cost is hybrid it makes its colour identity black and white

I'm pretty sure its still legal. Colors in the reminder text don't apply to rules text

Crypt Ghast is 100% legal

I'd highly recommend looking into Phyrexian Delver, or Corpse Connoisseur. If you're going heavy on mill, try Undead Alchemist.

Odysseus_97: That is a great suggestion for a budget deck. I was also thinking about Decree of Pain. I am working on a budget section for the Primer. Also, I am putting Mindcrank in for Memory Erosion, like you said.

As discussed, Crypt Ghast is legal. It is a very common mistake though. I was actually just talking about that rule with a co-worker.

mehtagame: Those zombies are all very interesting, and some I already have to try out, but I will look into getting the rest. Thank you for the suggestions and the +1!!!

Shouldn't it be God of the Rising MOON if it's "butts up?";)

ONLY CRAP, You just made my day!!! lol. I was just taking the name from the lore, but God of the Rising MOON wins hands down! Is it ok if I steal that???

Please do!

DONE! Update the Name and the Intro. You are the best lol. I feel stupid for not thinking of this parallel! Thank you for the support and the vote! (Any thoughts on the deck itself?)

I don't play zombies enough to really know what I'm talking about when it comes to them. The only questionable choice I see is Chromatic Lantern. Do you really need the fixing that bad in a 2 color deck? I think something else deserves its slot. If you need a Lantern in your two color deck, something is wrong with your mana base. Also has 34 lands been enough for you. I run a minimum of 36, preferably 38.

I think it might be a good addition to the deck to have interesting targets for the scarab god to bring back. For example, Blighted Agent or even Invisible Stalker would be really good as 4/4's. I did a little of that in my deck, which by the way looks pretty similar to yours. Check it out if you want to compare: 666 Hordes Of The Dead: The Scarab God Primer.

He is called "God of the rising sun" because he is partly a scarab and the scarab god of old egypt (Khepri) is the god of the rising sun. Actually it was believed he created the sun every morning and devoured it every evening.

Hi, Billy Mays here. Are you tired of not having enough mill? I've got the solution for your milling needs look no further than Mesmeric Orb! She does some real work for only one easy payment of $10.39

Deathstroke2791: You are likely right about the lantern and my land base. I have only played the deck a four times so far, and it is flowing really well, so we will see. I kind of count rocks as lands in the deck, so we can say we are running 37 lands if you want. Lantern is mainly so good because it insures I always have enough blue to use the commanders ability over and over. There is a lot of support for black mana, but not for the blue.

kellen.rice: dude, that is a really cool idea! Idk if there will be room to fit in creatures in this deck for the soul purpose of eternalizing them, but i think it is a sound strategy! I focus more on milling my opponents for their creatures I'm my build. I will add that idea to the 'alternate build option' part of the Primer, when that is done.

Schlangenbob: Yes sir, I am am aware of the lore, it is actually explained in my Introduction and the Lore section of the description. The humor is suppose to be that The Scarab God's head looks like a beetle butt wiggling in the air, so instead of Rising 'Sun' I call him Rising 'Moon'. Lame joke, I know, but I still find it hilarious, lol.

Flagellum: I think the orb would be good if I was going for a mill kill, but I just want creatures to make into zombie. If I need more mill, that is definitely an option though, thank you!

Thank you all so much for the comments and upvote! I REALLY does mean a lot!

I would swap out Attrition for Deathmark Prelate. It is easier to recur and is not color exclusionary. Phyrexian Delver is a great include, as is Grimgrin, Corpse-Born

I could see an argument for Chromatic Lantern because of Havengul Lich's ability. You need to be able to cast the creature you target (applies to opponent's graveyards too).

Instead of Attrition or Deathmark Prelate, I'd suggest Stronghold Assassin for Zombie-flavour reasons.

Playtesting your deck I found the land count to be a bit too low, especially for your curve/average CMC. Try going up to 38? I'd also try to limit the number of non-basics, only leaving in the essentials.

VexenX, you were talking about a 200 card EDH deck check out mine.I Have 200 Cards in my EDH Deck!

rob_shifflett: Thank you for the suggestion and the vote! I think Attrition is to good to remove, but Deathmark Prelate seem really good. I'll have to try and make room for it!

mehtagame: I also found mana problems after about a dozen games yesterday. They deck was crazy powerful, if I had enough mana to get going. Also, your commander is a amazing g way to spend your leftover mana!

Enral: Your deck looks super solid. I will give it another look today so I can leave you some suggestions!

Deathstroke2791: That deck look hilarious man! Does your meta let you play it?

Might be expensive or hard to add, but Phyrexian Altar is a card that would be nuts in this deck with the zombie since it combos amazingly with Gravecrawler, you will be able to get infinite enter the battlefield and zombie dies triggers, and with different cards this can make a lot of infinite combos: Every combo will have Phyrexian Altar and Gravecrawler to give the triggers and these cards will give different outcomes:

Rooftop Storm : Infinite coloured mana, since you can cast Gravecrawler for free. With Ashnod's Altar instead of Phyrexian Altar you could get infinite colourless mana, but that would keep up a slot in the deck , and one is fine.

Diregraf Captain/Plague Belcher/Vengeful Dead : The triggers will give infinite damage. You win.

Secrets of the Dead : You dont use this card, and it might not be that useful in this deck, but it could be argued that you do have some reanimation so it could be used. But with the triggers you could have infinite card draw, even though it seems not that good since you filter your library like crazy with The Scarab God.

Noxious Ghoul: You removed this, and i see your point for doing it, but it is a recurring Crux of Fate for Zombies, where you can even remove indestructible creatures. It does hit your commander, but for a board wipe on your opponents, it could be justified.

Diregraf Colossus : Infinite tapped 2/2 Black zombie tokens, if you have a Leyline of Anticipation you can make the tokens right before your turn and untap them. Be careful if you have Graveborn Muse on the field though. Unless you would add a Exquisite Blood to gain all the life your opponents lose due to The Scarab God upkeep trigger.

There might be even more combos in here, and they can be optimized with other cards on the field, but these are the basic combos that can be tuned.

Oh right, you will have all these combos available by adding Phyrexian Altar ;)

Oh, found more combos, mill combos. Still need the triggers.

Altar of Dementia + Rooftop Storm: Mill opponents entire library

Altar of the Brood : Mill their intire library.

Its a fun game, i keep thinking there are no more combos, and then i find another one. The triggers will also put counters on your Black Market, giving you infinite Black Mana in your next upkeep.

Apparently the suggestion didnt go through, so i will again recommend Exquisite Blood :)

Odysseus_97: Wow! Thank you for your AMAZING feedback! If you dont mind, I will add those combos to the Combo section of the Primer (I am trying to post it this weekend).

Phyrexian Altar is a card I don't own, that I have been on the fence about buying this past week. It just seems so good, but I dont just want it to be a 'combo piece'. The other 'combo pieces' are stand-alone amazing card is the deck, but the question for me is if the Altar is good in the deck alone. Idk I want to drop $25 on a card I will only maybe use. What is your experience with it? I do want to draw Alter and just have to tutor for other cards to make it good. Ya know what I mean?

Keep feeding me the combos, lol. I will even include a few combos for cards I don't include, both others might want to.

Thank you again for the feedback and and suggestions! You rock!!

No problem, i dont mind at all you just put it in, by the way i really like your primer, good job. Love that you included the Lore about the god :D

I will keep posting combos, im in shock that those triggers can make so many different infinite combos. You propably saw it, but i just realised that if The Scarab God drains each of your opponents for 10 life, you dont only get 10 life off Exquisite Blood, you get 30 :O

I see your point of it as a combo piece, although i have not seen a card in a long time that makes so many possible combos, so it might be justifiable, since it also powers both your winconditions mill and lifedrain.

Its though to see if it will be good as a mana generator alone in this deck, it depends on the amount of tokens you produce and zombies you can do without.

Have not played the Scarab God deck yet, and do not own a Phyrexian Altar either, but might buy it. Although i have tried a similar combo in my Krenko, Mob Boss commander deck with Skirk Prospector as a budget Phyrexian Altar (If you want to see that deck, it is on my account called Krenko's Army). I can say that it's very good, it is included in many of my infinite combos, and it is actually really good as a mana generator. Have been able to sacrifice enough tokens to play cards for a total of 12 mana and then go infinite.

Krenko makes more tokens than this deck will produce, but it will still be sweet to sacrifice one minor important creature or token to get that one mana needed to cast an important card, maybe Overseer of the Damned right before combat, and in the following combat phase, it will most likely make up for that lost token. A good outcome of this as a mana source could be to have one untapped Island and a [Counterspell] in hand, then sacrifice a single zombie token to be able to cast that to maybe counter a boardwipe.

But maybe your meta would allow the same rule as mine, if we want to use a card but it is very expensive, we are allowed to proxy it and see how well it works in our deck and then decide to buy one or not. Actually we allow all proxies since we want to spend time playing magic, not working overtime to afford those cards. But we allow all proxies except for the overpowered cards like original dual lands and such, since you will never really go out and buy those cards.

And thanks, you too. Have been using some of the feedback you have gotten to cut cards off my own The Scarab God EDH deck and combos, so just posting stuff i found out myself :)
