G/W Humans with a little Investigate-Combo
The Search
Not many see the change, that has been rolling over Innistrad. How should they? It is so subtle, one can only feel an intruding itch in ones neck. Most will shove it aside in a minor act of dismissal, thinking it couldn't be worse, than what they have experinced since their birth on this wretched plane.
Only few are getting cautious and even fewer grow so suspicous, that they activly look out for something unusual on a plane full of murder, intrigue and hopelessness.
And then, there are those, that had the questionable luck to find a change, not a disturbance, but just a clue.
Reassured in their itch of nearing calamity, they continue. The second clue is almost as hard to find as the first one and the next was nearly overseen, but you notice a pattern. Or atleast you hope so.
All of Innistrad is shifting, but not from Good to Evil, or the other way around. You know it. No. It is barely noticeable and so hidden... just as if the plane is slowly warping.
You wish, that your feeling is betraying yourself. That finding the clues is indifferent and you are seeing ghosts of doom, were nothing is afoot.
Still. You proceed.
The Answer
Countless clues have you found. All over Innistrad, your home. Restless have you become. Your feeling of impending calamity has been joined by desperation.
Everything you felt, but hoped not to be, was true. In the beginning you thought, if there was something happening, you could bring attention to it. Work against the change. The warping of Innistrad.
There it lay before you. The answer, that hunted you all over the plane in a mad run. Your mind is slipping. It was all for naught.
A book. A collection of papers strung together to spell out your fate. A fate of doom. You cannot believe, you don't want to. It can't be true, what this freakin' mess of angel's be damned assortment of prove tells of.
Someone already found out and someone already failed. You sit down. Depressed, hopeless, slain. A shell, barely connectable to the rational mind it once held.
Madness.
The Arrival
Innistrad had seen many horrors. Some manmade, some ancient, some alien. But this ... thing was something not even the greatest naysayer could have imagined. One day it just arrived. Was there. Trampling through the mountains, rivers, plains, swamps and forests leaving nothing behind, but a vast void of life and no hope for a recovery.
The humans of the plane banded together under their Angel Sigarda's lead. Hope burned in their hearts and the angels gaze. They were ready to fight for their home, to protect it, to prevail. A harsh life was nothing new, nobody said, it will be easy, but in the end humanity will live.
Soon the armies of men were shattered. The armies, towns and people nothing more than shards of a previous order to be maimed to dust under the mighty feets of the unimagineable horror.
The Decklist - An Explanation
As you have maybe already read or guessed, this deck follows a theme and a mechanic from the set: "Shadows over Innistrad".
This is basically a human tribal with a handful of non-human creatures to either enhance the humans, draw value from or utilizieng as a provider for a not so difficult combo.
In the following I will split this deck into its tribal part and added on (was easy to include) Combo potential.
Human-Tribal
Thalia's Lieutenant: Included, because she belongs in every human Standard tribal. She is a limited anthem effect and can grow to be a sizeable beater himself.
Consul's Lieutenant
: The second limited anthem effect. While renown may not always be easy to trigger, it is not impossible. First Strike and help from the other Lieutenant help.
Knight of the White Orchid: Good body. First Strike. Mana fixing. Notice how it just says Plains? He can grab a battle-land.
Hanweir Militia Captain
: This deck uses enough creatures to trigger her succesfully. She is a sizeable beater and the tokens will add up. (Currently Serra Angel)
Tireless Tracker: The first of our Clue token producers. Easily triggered through landfalls and also a growing beater through sacrificing said tokens. (Currently Serra Angel)
Bygone Bishop: The second Clue token producer. Aside from the relevant body and tacked on evasion, he will be our main source of Clue tokens. Multiples are benefical and Collected Company is just the cherry on the top.
Support
Collected Company: An amazing card in a deck, that has a good number of ETB-effects. Furthermore it has 24 valid targets with the majority of them in the 3CMC slot.
Dromoka's Command: It would be a culpable act to not run this card in a green and white deck. The provided utility (removal, protection, etc.) is invalueable.
Eerie Interlude: A godsend in a creature heavy deck. It protects our creatures from removal and can trigger ETB-effects agains. This card screams value.
Combo
Briarbridge Patrol: This creature provides us with added value from our Clue tokens (while also producing them). It is not difficult to have an abundance of them and sacrificing is their purpose, why not immediatly play a creature from the three cards you drew?
Tamiyo's Journal: A costly artifact, but also one, that can give extensive amounts of value. It produces great amounts of Clue tokens and enables you, to tutor for any card in your deck.
Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger: Really not castable in this deck, but we run him, because we are able to cheat him into play through the useage of two cards and bunch of our near endless supply of Clue tokens.
Interactions
This deck is still in development and all suggestions are welcome. The only thing set in stone is, that the human tribal stays and the combo remains.
