The Spirits are Restless(Spirit Tribal)

Commander / EDH BGW (Abzan, Junk) Budget Spirits Tribal

Long story short, I wanted to build a Kamigawa Spirits deck because I loved the flavor and synergy of the cards. As a result this deck was built.

The deck itself is basically a gimmick deck, and is usually slow to start off with. Given its colors, and its tech pieces, it sort of functions as a reanimator deck, so its important to dump stuff into your graveyard as early as possible. Despite being a gimmick deck it does have some advantages in EDH/commander.

  1. It's fun and flavorful, so players will be less likely to focus you unless you have a insane board state(based on my experiences with my usual play group). Would you focus a player a player with a themed and flavorful deck, or the guy playing Grand Arbiter Augustin IV? Your choice.

  2. Decks that steal creatures will be more hesitant to nab some of your stuff since this deck's creatures have very specific interactions. Players who do will need to invest heavily in taking from you, almost exclusively to get the most out of those synergys.

  3. The soulshift mechanic, while a bit clunky at times, is a good way to make sure you almost always have dudes on the board.

In conclusion, I have alot of fun playing this deck, and so does the group I play with. The flavor was one of the reasons I built this deck and my only regret was being unable to fit more of kamigawa in here... at least until Wizards decides to print a 4-5 colored legendary spirit commander. Kamigawa wasn't well liked for it's mechanics, but its flavor and art is still glorious.
