I have playtested with a three color decklist and find that the mana base is sketchy. I do like the idea of Deathrite Shaman , but I don't need green for him to be good.I would only use his black ability against delver. However, I don't have enough room in the sideboard as it is.

I've never seen a deck like this before! +1 for beating everyone to it! :P lol aha xD aha

Great, Glad you like it! However, this deck seems to be pretty widespread. It is in my opinion the new best deck in standard. Plus, everybody is gaga for those new jund decks with corpsejack menace and lotleth troll. I can beat them easily, though.

Plus one for just a solid deck build! I played this deck to the tee yesterday at FNM. Here is my breakdown. Game one I played a R/B aggro/control deck using Rakdos and some artifact i cant remeber the name to. I lost this match 2-1 IMO because of a failure to sideboard Rakdos charm and a noobish miss play in game one. i should have won this match up. Match 2 i won quickly 2-0 to a mono white deck, he sideboarded Rest in peace and got toplay it game two, obviously it didnt help much! Match 3 i won 2-0 to a mono white angel mid-range he couldnt keep a creature on the board. now match 4 drove me nutz! Keep in mind i should be 3-0 bit im fightimg this dude for top 4. Playing as solid as I can against this what I would call a U/W Control varient. Using the new Jace, and an X condition card that brings x 4/4 flyers that I can't remember the name to. Game one I.drew well and started my assault, only there was.no assault to be made. Every attack I would make, in response, he would tap my attackers. I unfortunately had no killing wave blood artist to deal. He won a close game one and on game two I got heavily mana screwed and lost. 0-2 . 2-2 in the tourney having never played zombies isn't bad considering i should have won that first match. All in all g reat deck, I'm not seasoned enough to suggest any answers to the U/W control that night. There were no creatures of his to kill until it was to late. Slaughter Games would hace changed things game two but I had no mana to play for like 6 turns. I'm going to shuffle this deck all week lol. I will take more notes next week to ID these unknown cards. Fun deck to play +1

I'm not sure what the artifact was but the other card is Entreat the Angels . It sounds like it may have been a U/W Miracle deck running Feeling of Dread . Miracle decks are a nightmare.

Thanks! I have barely played much of the miracles deck but when I did, Surgical Extraction was amazing and I bet Slaughter Games would be too. I'm glad yo kike this deck, I have 2 boxes to open before I can really start to trade into the cards I need. Having already played zombies, I have the 4x messenger, crawler, and the utility spells, but I need shock lands, and the new cards.

Thanks alpha those were the cards, and yes slaughter games would have helped greatly. Going to play it again tonight, been practicing all weekend.

Man, I don't think Bonfire of the Damned shines here, I would rather put 3 Brimstone Volley . Rakdos Shred-Freak should be put here too, since he's a haste drop 2 with later bonus to Falkenrath Aristocrat , and since you got 8 creatures in the 1 drop, drop 2 seems really poor if you want to make the right curve.
October 17, 2012 7:33 p.m.
... also, Sever the Bloodline is a must in sideboards, against those pesky angels of Entreat the Angels

my curve is well thought out nd I have no room for either card.
One drops are vital, and I wish I could have more, but there is no room. All the cards here are very useful to the theme.
2 Drops I also have eight. signin blood, skirsdag high priest, and of course blood artist. If shred frek goes in, then something has to go, and I can't afford to get rid of anything. I also use turn 2 to often use a tragic slip and anothier 1 drop. If anything goes in, its more high priests.
I think in real life I will use Brimstone Volley for the bonfires. I can in no way get my hands on many of the $45 card. It's also a legitamate option that may be better than flames.
As for the sideboard, everything is planned out. If a deck has angels that I want to get rid of, then I have bonfires, I have Slaughter Games which works wonders against these decks, and I have Rakdos Charm to just make those angels kill their owners. Besides, what's a 4/4 angel got on a 5/5 demon or an indestructible 4/1 flier?
Aside form those, Mizzium Mortars is better for removing those pesky armies because it has more than just 1 use. I can race those rarer miracle decks too and beat them with speed. in fact, 4 or more angels is just another reason for me to get blood artist kills or feed my desecration demon.
I am, however, looking to make a few swaps. Decks which have mor eaggressive four drops than the desecration demon are going ot come out on top, and I want to be more like them. I cna't fit Hellrider in, but I want to rethink the deck a bit. Do you have suggestions for anything I mighty add? I will consider your previous suggestions carefully when I make changes. BUT! I am not going into jund. That is too far for me... If you have seen my posts you know I am pasionate about this distinction.
Wow a long post...

Man, I don't know if you can overload that Mizzium Mortars in the right time against angels, and really Slaughter Games should target only Terminus which surely is this deck cryptonite. You know... 4 Falkenrath Aristocrat seems the way to go, since his your only sac device. Hellhole Flailer also seems like a good creature, but you should have at least 10-12 red sources (Rakdos Guildgate) to put him in, so this can shake the deck consistency. 10-12 drop 1, with Rakdos Cackler will also make more pressure starts, in which you happily take 8 of their life.Desecration Demon isn't bad, but I feel he shouldn't be a maindeck card, since he can be pretty poor against swarm decks (he's growing but if it's the only threat, you can lose before he swings), in the zombie mirror (tragic slip, and other removal), and in special, Selesnya Charm . He really shines if you're playing against some kind of control with one-bomb card (Olivia Voldaren ), or an agroo deck more focused on Sublime Archangel , Restoration Angel etc.For agroo purposes, have you tried Crippling Blight ? It's a good way to make those Thragtusk s look sad.
October 17, 2012 9:45 p.m.
... and really, do you feel the need of Sign in Blood ? Loss of life can be crucial if you don't settle your Blood Artist shenanigans (there are games where you won't see him), specially in an agroo meta filled with shocklands..Skirsdag High Priest won't shine all times, he's a bad draw if you're topdecking or just don't have enough creatures... since you have a lot of flying power, I feel him as a win-more card.

I am torn between adding more red and not. I want to add 2 mountains, but It can often ruin my messengers. I want to use guildgates, but it won't be worth it to enter tapped. I also argued about this with zandl for a while.
Crippling Blight isn't even ont he list. I don't want to waste one mana on a card that not ontly doesn't significantly do something, is only there to reduce a 5/3 to a 4/2. I don't want to sound harsh, but i think here its unplayable.
I want this to be one of those fast decks, but I don't want to lose the feel. I don't want to get rid of the things that I think make this deck what it is, but eventually I will have too. It is good either way.

I will not stop playing the high priest. He is my little friend, and I have won so much with him earlier. I just won't give that up.
sign in blood will slowly leave this deck's roster as it speeds up. I think the two cards are becoming less and less relevant, and Rakdos Cackler is more and more.
In fact, I'll do it right now!
October 17, 2012 9:55 p.m.
... have you read the 'can't block' clause? This is why people who top 8'd with br or bg zombies run 4.

I'd run Stab Wound before I would run Crippling Blight ...
I really don't think that removing card draw is a good idea. At all.

I really liked Sign in Blood , but I can't afford to waste time casting it so early in the game. I would love some suggestions, as the deck is in a molten sort of zone. It is changing, but I don't know where to head with it. Its very volatile. What is your suggestion? Super fast, or less fast but more resistant to disruption?

cartwheelnurd says... #20
Also, what is your stance on the land base? more red or the smae amount? And are guildgates good at all?
October 17, 2012 10:14 p.m.
-1 Brimstone Volley + 1 Rakdos Cackler
-2 Tragic Slip + 1 Mountain + 1 Dreadbore
-1 Desecration Demon + 1 Falkenrath Aristocrat (she's just THAT good, in this build)
-1 Olivia Voldaren (she won't be relevant if you don't have mana to ping or steal creatures in the right time) + 1 Mountain
-1 Rakdos Shred-Freak +1 Flames of the Firebrand
23 mana seems the ideal, if you want to cast 4 drops
... but that's my take on it, I played Br zombies last standard, now i'm testing both B/G and B/R, and yes, jund zombie sucks.

Thank you! somebody gets it. I think loltroll is way overrated.
I willa dd two mountains, but it might not stick I have to playtest more.
I also will not take out tragic clip. It is my best and most useful removal spell.

Super fast means you take out Skirsdag High Priest for Rakdos Shred-Freak which, as you said before, you don't want to do. Less fast means you leave him in and run some card:Altar's Reap or Sign in Blood to dig for removal or answers. card:Altar's Reap is wicked fun with Undying like card:Geralf's Messenger because it provides a flicker effect in response to an exile removal..
October 17, 2012 10:18 p.m.
We don't have those Mortarpod 's anymore, and nobody falls for the Gravecrawler attack with 1 black land untapped...at least here in my LGS. Falkenrath Aristocrat fix this too. I'm currently running 1-2Dead Weight , 2-3 Ultimate Price and 2-3 Dreadbore , with just a couple Tragic Slip
October 17, 2012 10:23 p.m.
cartwheelnurd says... #25
I think all those removal spells are good, but Tragic Slip is the best. This is my opinion, and I respect yours, but this is what I think along those lines.
Ohthenoises says... #1
I don't like counter based strategies much either so I think your creature base is fine as it is.
I suggest a change to the mana base to support my next suggestion: Abrupt Decay . (Between that and Golgari Charm but IMO the charm kinda blows.)
+4x Woodland Cemetery +2x Overgrown Tomb -6 swamp. This gives you access to all of the green enchantment removal and a lot of the golgari support cards giving you much greater flexibility and resilience. (This gives you access to the colors if you decide you need to run something like Dreg Mangler , Grisly Salvage , or Deathrite Shaman if you require them for an event.)
