A couple comments on a few card choices.

  • Judge's Familiar was chosen over Soldier of the Pantheon because it's better against black-based removal-heavy strategies. Soldier is better against UW control since it dodges Detention Sphere , and monsters, especially Jund Monsters, and usually inherently removal creatures are better for devotion strategies. However, the Familiar has been playing very well by delaying removal for black decks. I think I like it the way it is.
  • Boros Reckoner was originally a 4-of. The card is very good against monsters, but Fiendslayer Paladin is just better against most of the things in my meta (mono-black control, esper control, burn). A pair of Boros Reckoner is still ready to come in for things like monsters or dredge.
  • Rapid Hybridization is the one out I have (outside of -3ing Elspeth) to Blood Baron of Vizkopa and Stormbreath Dragon . I havew considered Supreme Verdict but I feel that would be worse for us than it is for our opponent more often than not.
  • The 1x Mutavault is still there from when I was running 4 reckoners, and mana was very tight. Now it could potentially be possible to run 2x. I will be testing with it.
  • I am unsure whether the deck can support the double blue mana cost of Sphinx's Revelation . Rev is an awesome card and it would be sweet in a lot of matchups, but a lot of time I find myself winning before i hit the second blue source. That's also something I will be testing, but I am interested in your thoughts.
  • The deck used to have Angel of Serenity . I just found myself never actually being able to play it, so I cut it.

That's Ephara's Radiance . I got the title of the deck from the flavor deck.

I don't have an opinion on the new Ajani. It seems ok I guess. It doesn't really fit this deck's plan OR colors though.
