Maybeboard

An all permanents version of Muldrotha, the Gravetide using Primal Surge as a gimmick to drop our whole deck onto the battlefield and find a wincon. The primary goal of the deck is to ramp as much as possible, then tutor for and cast Primal Surge with Venser, Shaper Savant or Glen Elendra Archmage as backup as needed if your opponents are running counterspells. After our deck is in play, we can pick any of our combos to close the game.

Combos:

  1. Primal Surge + Jace, Wielder of Mysteries. Put your deck into play and uptick Jace for the win.
  2. Mindslaver lock any single opponent each turn for just 10 generic mana if Muldrotha, the Gravetide is out.
  3. Deadeye Navigator + Peregrine Drake for infinite mana of any color, blue being most relevant for our combo. Then, use that mana for Deadeye activations, soulbonding it to Venser, Shaper Savant to bounce all your opponent's permanents, or to Gonti, Lord of Luxury to exile and play all your opponent's libraries using our infinite mana.

Protection:

Because our deck is so dependent on having our commander out, and we rely heavily on the graveyard and the battlefield, it's important to have our counters and protection pieces ready before starting to abuse our commander's effect. Try to sandbag our big plays so we don't just scoop to graveyard hate.

  1. Use Siren Stormtamer and Lightning Greaves to protect Muldrotha, the Gravetide.
  2. Counter anything scary using Glen Elendra Archmage or Venser, Shaper Savant.

Removal:

  1. Seal of Primordium, Reclamation Sage, and Acidic Slime are our ways to deal with artifacts and enchantments.
  2. A Plaguecrafter each turn can chip away at many slower decks and hose voltron players.
  3. Pernicious Deed is pretty good in our deck because we can destroy the field for 5 or less each turn and still keep Muldrotha, the Gravetide around to replay it. Anything important we lose to our boardwipe we can just replay each turn anyways.

Self-Mill:

With Muldrotha, the Gravetide in play, milling our own library will give us access to many more cards than our opponents will likely have.

  1. Altar of Dementia, Codex Shredder, and Jace, Wielder of Mysteries should be targeting us every time, unless you are facing strong graveyard hate.
  2. Underrealm Lich is great for us, turning each draw into two additional cards we can play from the graveyard. You should always pay the 4 life to save it when it's under fire.

Potential Issues:

  1. Primal Surge may end up in our graveyard if it gets countered or if we self-mill it. The only two ways we have to get it back are Eternal Witness and Codex Shredder. The deck can win without this card, but the whole gimmick of the deck is to cheat out our deck using Primal Surge.
