Duskmantle Guildmage and Increasing Confusion are sweet mill cards, and so is Undead Alchemist . Check out my deck, deck:palisade-protection. +1

Ok a couple of things u need 4 copies of Thought Scour not 3. Also no architects just adepts. And yo bro I hear Snapcaster Mage is a really good card.

OMG, I've wanted mill to viable, or at least dangerous, in standard forever. I think this is it! +1 for this!
Question: If I pay for Duskmantle Guildmage's 1UB ability, then play Mind Sculpt, does the opponent lose 7 life?

@bman5604 I removed a Thought Scour so I could have more then one Increasing Confusion . I also agree that it would be more useful to have three Jace, Memory Adept , but I only currently have two. As for Snapcaster Mage , I'm currently trying to get some, but nobody at my local FNM store has any for trade.
@ryanmdodd Thank you! I've always liked Mill, but it wasn't really viable for me until Dimir started to get leaked. I'm very excited for Gatecrash.

I can't decide if Jace's Phantasm is now worth considering....your thoughts?

@ryanmdodd I think Nightveil Specter has replaced it, now that I really think about it.

Evil Twin Having 2 of them or 3 of them means if you technically have +2 of every creature in your deck. (you gotta have it on the field first of course)
And since you have xU and xUB mill spells, have you tried Crypt Ghast ?

I would put fog bank on the side board to side against aggro decks. it does nothing but stall, which means its value against a normal deck is 1 card milled/turn, whereas you can get Mind Sculpt , Evil Twin , Crypt Ghast and Sands of Delirium to strengthen your mill potential

do you know how to link suggestions and things? Cuz I've been using [[]] and not getting any points =/

Did you consider maybe going up to 3 Duskmantle Guildmage and 3 Jace, Memory Adept ? The combo of double activate Guildmage, Jace's 0 to mill 10, you lose 20 life is a widely discussed combo right now.
January 15, 2013 3:33 a.m.
It's especially crazy because it's on curve, since you can cast Jace, Memory Adept on 5 and then double activate with 6 mana the next turn. Even if they kill the existing Guildmage to stop you, you can still cast another, activate, then mill 10 and they lose 10 life. Utterly ridiculous shenanigans are possible.

That's completely insane. I'm just not sure what to remove for another guildmage. Perhaps a Consuming Aberration ?

I actually think going down a Mind Grind or a Mind Sculpt would be better. Both those cards are better when you have Snapcaster Mage in the deck and fairly average without.
Mind Grind is way more fun so I'd want the full four copies just for funsies. Reminds me of my days with Mind Funeral ...

+1, definitely stoked for the 25th. I thought Innistrad was getting cut out of standard for Gatecrash?
January 15, 2013 4:10 a.m.
Dimir_mill, each Standard format consists of the two most recent blocks and the Core Set between those two blocks. There is a period during the summer when the next Core Set releases that both Core Sets are part of the Standard format.
Our two most recent blocks are the current Return to Ravnica block and the Innistrad block (consisting of the sets named Innistrad, Dark Ascension, and Avacyn Restored). The release of Gatecrash is not a new block, but a new set that is contained within the Return to Ravnica block.
Also, your name made me chuckle because of the deck upon which you're commenting ;D
