quick thought... when playing against this, removing your creatures will definately be very important. So, Mizzium Skin may help keep your guys on the board as well as a counter would.

Yeah, if there is heavy removal, that's why the sideboard is there. When GTC comes out though, I will edit the sideboard depending on what my local store plays.

wow, Shabobi, amazing mill deck. I would like to copy this deck but only to play against other friends. i don't do tournaments ever. In morphing this into a casual deck, are there any cards you recommend I swap for that are better, but you weren't able to use?

Also, what different (definitely cheaper) lands do you recommend I swap out)

Lastly, I have to remove the 3x Jace, Memory Adept because of its price. Not worth it to me.

I love this deck, and most of the cards I will buy, but what do you all recommend I swap out that might even be better since I can use any card?

I only started playing at the end of the Phyrexia block, so I'm not greatly familiar with older cards. The main ones I can think off the top of my head though are Traumatize , Mana Leak , and Mindcrank

Haha, Mindcrank + Jace, Memory Adept + Duskmantle Guildmage s 1UB ability = Infinite Discard and Death. T-T

I'm planning to make my own Dimir Mill soon, but I've been feeling lazy about going ahead and getting it all together. Would you mind if I took your deck as a template? It looks pretty good.

The new B/U counter spell that mills could be a nice addition.

if you do have a splash of white you can try and make it a sort of enchantment mill deck using Sphere of Safety , Rest in Peace , Curse of the Bloody Tome , and Chronic Flooding . the sphere and rip there for protection against aggro and reanimator

@Exzist Go for it man, that's what this website is for >_<

@kpontau Which one?

@zoso414 While it sounds like it might be a good idea, it takes away from either the much needed creatures I need, or the instants/sorcery, which at this moment in time, cannot be replaced. Depending on how GTC is played though, I may be open to swapping some things out. I have considered splashing White before, but mainly just for Detention Sphere , Azorius Charm , and Geist of Saint Traft .

Have you put any thought of throwing in a Trepanation Blade or two?

January 22, 2013 2:05 a.m.

The Doctor says... #13

@stormkirkjb87 Yes, I have. However, in the current standard speed, it's just too slow and sets me back a turn or two, and it would be more useful to simply use the mana on other things. I may reconsider though once I find out what my local meta is.

Would you not want to use Cancel or even Negate in your sideboard as opposed to Dissipate as exiling cards doesn't synergize with Lazav, Dimir Mastermind and Consuming Aberration ?

Choosing the right counter spells has been the hardest part for me as I'm building a similar deck.

@UKSoldier Good point. Made the swap.

Happy to help bud.

I also like Syncopate as it scales well but the downside being it can get a bit obvious if you're leaving a bunch of mana open at later stages of the game.

I've also considered Nevermore against Surge decks but if I bring white in, I agree the Detention Sphere and Oblivion Ring are probably better choices over all.

What's your take on Rewind for late game control?

January 22, 2013 4:41 p.m.

The Doctor says... #17

I don't like Rewind as a card at all in standard. IMO, it's way too costly for what it does, and I'd rather have the early shut down, allowing me to get my combo's off, then having to depend on the late-game countering.

January 22, 2013 5:02 p.m.

UKSoldier says... #18

I agree, and since ideally you're countering at instant speed on their turn. The ability to untap four lands hardly makes it a "free" counter spell like people commonly think.

how about adding Wight of Precinct Six. // Color: Black // Type: Creature - Zombie // Cast Cost: 1B // Text: "Wight of Precinct Six gets +1/+1 for each creature card in your opponents graveyards." // P/T 1/1

January 22, 2013 5:48 p.m.

"Even the lost and undead need a protector."

Someone just pointed this card out to me on a comment on my deck, thought I would share the love. Far superior to Cancel

@UKSoldier mtgmintcard is an awesome site. Especially if you like foreign cards, you can order them in Chinese.
