IamKJ: Ehhh. I tried it, and I didn't really like it. When I had enough cards in hand for it to matter, I already had another way to win, and when I had few cards in hand, I wanted to refill my hand rather than casting a more expensive and color-intensive Tolarian Winds.

That infinite combo with Kindred Discovery... dirty. I like it. Especially with a Purphoros, God of the Forge on the board.

duser12: It's a pretty nasty piece of work, hehe. Wonderful with Purphoros, God of the Forge on board, but it also works wonders with Firestorm.

You might already know this but you could truly draw infinite cards with your Kindred Discovery combo by adding Mind Over Matter from your maybe board. Drop the discovery while matter is out and start drawing, once you get towards the end of your deck start discarding with matter until you discard kozilek and continue the loop till you want it to end then cast your Snapback

KayneMarco: I ran Mind Over Matter for a while, but I found that it isn't necessary for the deck to function (and 2UUUU is an awful cost for an enchantment). After all, I run a huge number of spells that shuffle graveyards into libraries, and I can discard a finite number of times at instant speed using Izzet Charm.

The difference between "actually infinite" and "gigantic but finite" doesn't make too much difference in most cases. If I need to deal ACTUAL infinite damage to an opponent, I can use the Dramatic Reversal/Isochron Scepter combo (or variants thereof) and loot infinitely with The Locust God's ability :)

Thank you for your comment!

Holly fuck I own an almost the same deck excepted I run Jin-Gitaxias, Reliquary Tower, Propaganda and Dissipation Field in. You might give it a try!

Chris.draz: What do I run that you don't? Just curious what you removed for those 4 options. I used to run Propaganda and Reliquary Tower, but I eventually cut both of them because I didn't overly need them.

No Pyramid of the Pantheon cause it's way too slow imo, Mox Diamond, Mox Opal, Grim Monolith, Force of Will, Pact of Negation and Timetwister (ofc lol) are those don't. Oh yeah and forgot to mention I also run Arjun, the Shifting Flame, Sunder, Counterspell and Cyclonic Rift.

I came here from the advertise your deck page and thought uh-oh, I don't know if I can offer any constructive criticism on something this tuned. But then I saw your common issues tab and thought maybe there is something! In looking I couldn't find anything in red or blue that would do it super efficiently (black kind of has the market cornered here) but maybe adding something with some scry triggers would help smooth out your wheels? The best thing I could find in these colours is Jace's Sanctum but that doesn't quite compare to something like Shadows of the Past which is what you really want. +1 from me anyway! Sweet deck

What about Scroll Rack

LordMithos: Thanks, man! I might play with Jace's Sanctum here...it also does cost reduction, which is very helpful...

MizzMizz: Strong card, obviously, but it doesn't draw cards (alas!). It also puts bad cards back on the top, and forces me to draw through them again. Since I don't have THAT many shuffle effects, I'm not overly a fan.

Has Teferi's Puzzle Box been suggested?

Its super disruptive and generates a ton of locusts while looking for combo pieces.

Daedalus19876 says... #15

Polupus: Yeah, I used to run it (and I even own a beautiful foil copy). The issue was that it made it very hard to sequence my plays, and didn't do anything when I drew it in the middle of a combo. I intend to win, at the latest, the turn after I drop The Locust God, so Teferi's Puzzle Box isn't able to trigger many times by that point. It's still good in slower or more aggro-focused versions of this commander, though!

Nice. This doesn't look like a Mizzix deck with a commander swap. It also doesn't look like what people who think the deck is solved might expect, "wheels and buffs." Well built. Looks fun. I might be stealing some ideas from you.

Kudos.

generalbobby: Thank you! I'm glad I could inspire you :) If you have any questions, feel free to ask (it's my pet project)!

And if you like the deck, I always appreciate +1's ;)

So I've built this deck almost completely besides the really expensive wheel cards and the super expensive Mana rocks.

I have some trouble facing really aggressive decks. I'm just wondering if there is any way to make it function Well without Mox diamond, Mox opal, and Mana crypt and the more expensive wheel cards ?

April 4, 2018 2:09 p.m.

Daedalus19876 says... #19

MizzMizz: Hmmm. My normal method of dealing with very aggressive decks is to out-speed them, but the cards you're missing are pretty important for that job, and combo always has difficulty dealing with aggression.

At the very least, assuming the problem is creature beatdown, Propaganda and friends will help you slow them down quite a bit. Possibly some Evacuation effects as well?

What did you use as replacements for the cards you don't own? :)

To be clear, I do have Sol Ring Mana Vault Grim Monolith Lotus Petal Fellwar Stone Chrome Mox Worn Powerstone Lotus Bloom so I do have a good amount of the rocks.

Daedalus19876 I caved and bought everything besides some of the lands, Mox Diamond Force of Will Timetwister Time Spiral and Wheel of FortuneI put in Counterspell Thran Dynamo Molten Psyche Muddle the Mixture and Propaganda should that work ok?

April 6, 2018 6:17 p.m.

Daedalus19876 says... #22

MizzMizz: My guess is that it'll work decently well :) What kind of aggro are you usually having problems with? Voltron lists that swing with one huge creature, or lists that swing with large numbers of smaller creatures?

April 8, 2018 5:06 p.m.

MizzMizz says... #23

Daedalus19876 I'm currently having the most trouble dealing with a Kaalia of the vast deck that has a lot of removal. If has gets Kaalia out early and starts swinging and laying huge things down, I usually don't have much time.

April 9, 2018 11:49 a.m.

Daedalus19876 says... #24

MizzMizz: Kaalia decks fold when they don't have their commander. I'd focus on countering her, as well as keeping them off colors with Strip Mine or Wasteland when possible. You'll always out-value them in the late-game (since Locust God generally doesn't pay commander tax), so just pull them into the late-game and beat them there.

...Also, does nobody else in your playgroup help you prevent Kaalia from attacking? Just curious - Kaalia often draws a lot of hate in general.

MizzMizz says... #25

Daedalus19876 I'm drawing the most hate when we play lately cus they have all witnessed this deck fire off like crazy, lol. I do what I can to seem like I'm not a threat but generally no one likes allowing Locust Boi to stay on the field, haha. I'll try and save my counters for kaalia and anything that targets Locust Bro. I think it will function alot better now that I got more Mana rocks.
