Just a random comment that I was the 666th person to upvote the deck. Kinda metal. Also, great write-up! I gave up on playing Locust God because it turned into a game of archenemy with my playgroup more often than not, but it's fun as hell to play.

ShotgunCrocodile: Stifle works, but more importantly Firestorm just outright WINS with counter backup, and can be cast off of Simian Spirit Guide (as zrob noted).

MVP12: I tested both him and Mission Briefing here, but honestly my GY is often surprisingly empty. Many of my wheels either shuffle in the GY (for example, Timetwister ) or exile themselves to prevent re-casting ( Time Spiral etc). Honestly, they just never had the impact I wanted in a combo deck - they're better in a grindy tempo-control deck than here.

Sloanan: Thanks for the complement, always good to hear from another Locust God player! And thank you for the devil's upvote :3

Coming from Advertise your COMMANDER deck, I'd personally take out Impulse , I don't have much experience with CEDH but Impulse and Fact or Fiction have very similar effects. It might just be the graveyard-manipulating side of me but I'd definitely prefer drawing Fact or Fiction over Impulse .

I would recommend pulling Abrade I just personally don't see much use for it with everything else you have in the deck. I hope this helps out

scotchtapedsleeves: Nah, honestly Impulse is one of the strongest cards here. Not only can it be stuck on an Isochron Scepter , it also costs much less mana than Fact or Fiction , and can be cast with the mana otherwise held up for a counterspell. Thanks for the thoughts tho! I agree that FoF can be better in a GY-focused deck.

xander11: Why do you feel it’s qeak out of curiosity? It’s been a life saver as instant-speed removal for dangerous artifacts (such as opposing Paradox Engine s) and dangerous creatures (such as Spirit of the Labyrinth ). It also can be reused on Isochron Scepter .

Have you considered some of the following cards? What are your thoughts on them?

Stranglehold -> Helps slow down or stop other faster combo decks while we assemble our wincons
Palinchron + Phantasmal Image -> Another way to get infinite mana and loot out our whole deck. Palinchron is expensive mana wise though.
Merfolk Looter + Intruder Alarm -> This one I can see as not good due to Intruder alarm being possibly a dead card.
Copy Artifact -> Can copy Isochron Scepter, other useful stuff.
Blood Moon / Magus of the Moon / Back to Basics -> Could be useful in slowing opponents down.

How was GPLA?

zrob: Thanks for the comment! In order:

1) Stranglehold is in there, no complaints so far ;)

2) Palinchron + Phantasmal Image : Nah, I'd have to have too many lands out (conflicting with this deck's focus on mana rocks), and the two halves don't do much on their own for my deck.

3) Merfolk Looter + Intruder Alarm : Yeah, this only works with my commander out, and doesn't do much outside of that combo.

4) ...yeah, I probably should have Copy Artifact in here. My only reluctance was that I can't tutor it with my artifact tutors.

5) Blood Moon / Magus of the Moon / Back to Basics : I've considered moving to a more basic-centric list and running these plus Ruination , but we'll see if I ever decide to do that for real...

Testing Compulsion and Relic of Progenitus over Rhystic Study and Fact or Fiction , we'll see whether this change is permanent!

If there were no budget restrictions would you run Mishra's Workshop ? Any other high dollar cards you'd like to run but aren't in due to budget other than Timetwister?

Daedalus19876 says... #13

Patryn: If there were no budget restrictions, I'd run Mishra's Workshop , Volcanic Island , Timetwister , and the 3 enemy fetches. Can't think of anything else huge I'm missing off the top of my head, though I'd probably at least TEST Metalworker .

As your commander makes lots of tokens (no doubt) have you thought of running Warp World ? If you use it and you have a crap load of things on your battlefield, you'd most likely hit more stuff in your library.

Daedalus19876: you commented you had an idea playing more basics and running non-basic hate, which cards would you swap for the blood moon package?

April 5, 2019 4:18 a.m.

Daedalus19876 says... #16

DrValium: The issue is that 1) my permanent count is very low in this deck, 2) I generally don't have a huge number of tokens unless I've either won or something is very wrong (since this is primarily an infinite combo deck; I don't plan to keep tokens around for long), and 3) 8 mana is a lot, even for a wincon :( Thanks for the suggestion though!

FlamingSamich: I'd probably swap in Back to Basics , Blood Moon , and Ruination , for Compulsion , Stranglehold , and Relic of Progenitus , maybe?

What is the purpose of Compulsion? Just a cheaper version of your commander's ability for cheaper Paradox/Scepter lines?

April 5, 2019 12:52 p.m.

Daedalus19876 says... #18

Patryn: Basically? It also lets me viably filter my hand with mana leftover for counterspells I didn't end up needing, lets me smooth the inevitable "I drew only trash" hands off of Wheel of Fortune , and can act as a backup for my commander if something like Cursed Totem is out. Plus it cantrips itself when I have lots of mana but few cards.

Love the deck. I am building something very similar. My one question is, why Mystic Speculation ? I'm am very curious about your reasoning for this over similar, but cheaper cantrips. Thanks!

DanGomba: Because of the infinite combo with Paradox Engine ! It’s saved me several times.

Have you considered Slate of Ancestry before or does that seem like Overkill.

I think Narset, Parter of Veils could be pretty sick in this deck. Does what Leovold, Emissary of Trest did for all our wheels.

What are your thoughts on Lazotep Plating ? Good protection for our whole board, also giving myself hexproof has saved me many times against the storm player in my playgroup.

Two cards from the new set I'd really like to test are the new Narset and Narset's Reversal . Do you have any intention to try those out?

May 15, 2019 7:12 p.m.

Daedalus19876 says... #25

Nahgg: Honestly, this list is currently disassembled and on hiatus IRL, because I moved all of the expensive pieces to my The Dark Tower: Circu Citadel cEDH list. However, both Narset, Parter of Veils and Narset's Reversal have been all-stars there, so I'd absolutely run them here if this list were still updating. Not least because wheeling with Narset out is essentially an instant win! ;)

I'm going to retweak and modify this list in the future, btw. It's just not the current highest priority.
