Daedalus19876: I've been actually updating this list quite a bit and working on it, definitely check mine out if you are gonna be modifying it. Would love your opinion on it as well!

zrob: Honestly? Looks absolutely great; that’s very very close to the changes I’d make. The only adjustments I’d personally make are:

1) Simian Spirit Guide back in, since it’s very good with wheels and allows cleaner wins with Kindred Discovery . Possibly over Metalworker ; how many artifacts do you generally find you have in hand?

2) Verity Circle in, possibly over Rhystic Study (neuters mana dorks and has additional utility with Opposition , though this one is meta-dependent).

(Also, since that list looks pretty heavily based on mine, do you mind linking this list in the description?)

But honestly the changes you made are completely and utterly sound, especially where you replaced high-CMC spells with cheap interaction; I may end up borrowing most of those alterations and implementing them here :)

zrob: Excluding changes to the landbase, those I'm a little less in agreement on. The addition of the other fetches is obviously a good idea (and something I've actually done IRL), but I'd rather have Academy Ruins over Command Beacon , along with a few other changes.

zrob Daedalus19876: i also am constantly refining this list and making changes, just took the deck to MagicFest Madison and made changes based off that experience. My list is here (https://archidekt.com/decks/76192#Locust_Dad) if you guys could take a look. I don't really update on this site too much anymore.

Daedalus19876: Thanks! I'm currently testing out Metalworker right now, just need to play a few more games to solidify my opinion on it. It hasn't been amazing, but a few times it's explosive. It really only nets me an average of 2 mana to be honest.

I tried Verity Circle , but it just doesn't seem to work in my meta. I have it in the sideboard for now, as Rhystic Study overperforms in my meta currently.

As for the landbase, I actually need to go ahead and update that on the site...I just need to go through and see what exact changes I've made. The main ones IIRC are going down to 2 mountains and adding all the fetches, and replacing Reliquary Tower (this card sucks) with Academy Ruins . Also adding City of Brass somewhere.

Also, I thought I linked to this deck but apparently not. I will go ahead and do that!

I appreciate the opinions and help! Would love to discuss to talk more EDH with you as time goes on.

So does the new Echo of Eons get a look? That flash back cost is sexy.

Sweet deck! I am working on one for my son, albeit a budget version. I found a combo that works if the commander is on the board, but it's a bit fragile so he has to time it right. Play Breath of Fury with any kind of combat draw effect like Windreader Sphinx or Coastal Piracy . This ends up in infinite combat turns since Breath of Fury keeps attaching to new creatures created with the card draw. I don't know how well this would work in competitive circles, but you might want to try it. You might catch someone off-guard.

This'll be rebuilt in the next few weeks; fair warning that most of the competitive pieces have moved to my The Dark Tower: Circu Citadel cEDH list. I'll also post an archived copy of the list as a cEDH build.

Love this list. The Locust God has been by far my favorite deck to play because there are so many different ways to win. Have you given any consideration to Echo of Eons? I think the fact that you can get at least 2 uses from it seems like it would be viable.

Echos is a no-brainer addition. What about new Narset?

Kmart756, rkjunior: Those both will go into the rebuild, but fair warning that it'll be a little while before I get around to rebuilding this. I've got enough on my hands with Yawgmoth and Circu ;)

Hey Daedalus19876, do you think Locust God is still viable without Paradox Engine ?

July 22, 2019 2:25 p.m.

Daedalus19876 says... #14

hypirlink: Less viable, but he can still do powerful things. Remember that cards such as Ashnod's Altar , Phyrexian Altar , Mana Echoes etc can replace it in this particular list. But I'm working on a rebuild, this deck is in hibernation right now.

Ya I'd really like to see you fix this deck cause Paradox is now banned. I've been playing this deck a bunch of different ways. Might be interesting to see a tier 1 type build.

One wheel effect with Gemstone Array + Mana Echoes gives you infinite mana. This in-turn allows you to use The Locust God 's ability for infinite haste insects

I loved this list, it inspired me to reconfigure my own 75% Locust God into a cEDH deck myself, with a post Paradox Engine ban take on things.
I would love if you had time to take a look sometime! I do reference on my deck that it is inspired by yours, as I found your primer to be very helpful in piloting.

Any chance you can redo this to work without paradox engine?

This list is currently in hibernation.

I am not sure when I will have time to come back to it.

I’m 1) extremely busy with my PhD program, 2) busy with other Magic projects, especially Yawgmoth, and 3) not sure if I should stick to Locust God or try Niv-Mizzet, Parun instead.

First of all, I love the deck, so you have a +1 from me. Next, unfortunately Paradox Engine was banned so that will need to be swapped out. As for what I do not know, as I play the Locust God as well but only in casual EDH.

Here's an idea thanks to the new spoiled cards. There's an enchantment called Underworld Breach which gives cards in your graveyard escape. So if you have Lion's Eye Diamond and Wheel of Fortune with six cards in your graveyard, you can draw out your whole deck but you will be exiling 6 cards each time thanks to the escape mechanic.

Is it worth while?

WalkingIllusion: I'm not sure WHERE I'm going with this deck, or if I'm going to even bother updating it? I no longer play it IRL, so I'm not able to test the new additions.
