LevahnTaupe: It's SO much mana, and pretty win-more here, TBH.

What about Chasm Skulker? He would be good for a big beater and possible token generator.

I am building a The Locust God deck and was thinking about adding Sneak Attack.

I'm planning on making a Locust God deck this weekend and i'm looking for ideas on how to go about it. I really like your deck. Seems almost exactly what i want my deck to do but i'm definitely adding some flash enablers, Vedalken Orrery and Leyline of Anticipation to name a couple. i'm also definitely adding Sphinx's Tutelage. anyways, great deck. +1

Nice primer. Always interested to see what others are doing. Thoughts on my build, Livin' La Vida Locust!?

But you can't play Darkness, River of Tears, Erayo, Soratami Ascendant, or any frogs really... :P

LeeRoy_Jenkiins: He used to be in here, and he's good tech against board wipes. I found he didn't help much with my combo or my normal gameplan, though, so for the moment he's out. He may return to the list in the future.

canderson107: Interesting! I considered that for a while, since I generally only need The Locust God during my turn, but it fell off of the radar somewhere. Has it helped you in any other way than reducing "commander tax"?

WeaponizedFarts: Thanks! Fair warning that Sphinx's Tutelage is better in 1v1 than multiplayer :)

Ender666666: I'll take a look shortly! :) Also, can I PM you about how you managed that background on your deck page?

EternalBrewmaster: Alas, I cannot :'(

Daedalus19876: I feel like no one remembers Nin, the Pain Artist anymore. For a deck like this, dealing X damage to a single locust to draw X cards and get X Locust back is ridiculous.

Upvote that comment to oblivion.

Why not use breath of fury? It ends the game with coastal or Bident with infinite combat

RUN Memory Jar. WHY IS IT ONLY IN SIDE BOARD. Also run Coat of Arms. Command Beacon is so bad in this deck. it already goes back to ur hand

pauldiamond64: It is in the maybeboard because I can't cast it off of Dream Halls, unlike my other wheels. And I don't currently have a method to recur it (if I added Academy Ruins it might be a different story).

And Command Beacon is a great way to get my Commander back if they're exiled, or if I have a lot of mana but I can't wait for him to return to my hand "naturally".

BTW ty for putting up a awesome primer @daedalus, you inspired a semi similar deck, and got a friend of mine who hates blue to play it

I play a blue black mill deck with Library of Leng and a few wheels in it and from my experience with it I would suggest putting it in bacause you can be selective of the cards you do and don't want to keep and it keeps your library fuller as well. I love the deck and have fun playing it!

MagicMatt13: I'll pass, because they already have haste and I prefer permanent/repeatable bonuses to the Locusts' power.

Klancik: If only I could find a slot...

slayasoos: Glad I could help! :) I need to update the primer, actually, because I've added/adjusted a lot of stuff since I wrote it, haha.

Spoosky: I was running Tandem Lookout for a while, but it just felt too situational when I didn't have Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind :(

lucal13: I probably should be playing it, I agree. The problem is finding a slot - any thoughts on what I should cut?

Daedalus19876, great job with the deck and the engaging description, man. I've been thinking about building a The Locust God deck myself, and this is one of the best decklists I've seen yet. However, I'm surprised there is no Training Grounds. Like you said, the deck is built around The Locust God, and Training Grounds would certainly help make him more lethal. The only other creature that would benefit would be Purphoros, God of the Forge, so it is definitely small in scope for your build. However, I think it's still worth a look.

Ok in edh you cant rely on one card like that. its like my friend said he did not care that i was gaining life cause he had Master of Cruelties in his deck. but that was one card and he never drew it so i won cause i gained life.

Memory Jar is too good to take out just cause of one card. also even if you have Dream Halls you can still play it for its normal mana cost which is not much.

Great primer! It was really helpful for me starting my own The Locust God list (the description is very much a WIP so disregard that if you check it out).

What do you think about Whir of Invention instead of Trinket Mage? It can find either Skullclamp or Ashnod's Altar or Alhammarret's Archive all at instant speed. It gets even better if you're running cost reduction cards like Baral, Chief of Compliance but it seems good without that too.

Daedalus19876: Would Diminishing Returns be a good one to take out for Nin, the Pain Artist? She's two less mana with her only downside being no haste. Exiling ten cards from the deck isn't too big of a downside in EDH but still a downside.

July 26, 2017 5:24 p.m.

im thinking take out diminishing return is not a bad idea.

just a suggestion: talk of your deck on the commander list by tier created by thegigibeast cause i think this deck have a chance to become the locust god's deck on the list.

Do you mind taking a look at what I'm thinking of running. Did I make any boneheaded omissions or anything that looks good on paper but isn't good in play.

RingoDingo92: Thanks, man! If you have any questions about how it works, or what I could improve in the description, let me know :) with regards to Training Grounds, I don't actually use The Locust God's loot ability very often. If I do, it's almost always with infinite mana, so the cost reduction doesn't matter much to me. I just think it's a weak ability, even for UR :(

pauldiamond64: I draw into it very easily with my wheels, however, and I want to immediately win if I resolve it. It's not my only path to victory by a long shot, but it's one of my 7 primary win conditions (which will be expounded upon when I update the description). And 5 mana is a lot when I intend to win T4 on average with this deck.

TheLitchKing: Thanks! I actually intend to upgrade that primer later this evening; stay tuned! ;) The things that turns me off of Whir of Invention is the high blue cost :(

Klancik: The summoning sickness is a big deal, though. Several of my win-cons intend to storm off in one huge combo turn, and I can't do that with her unless I give her haste :( I do want to include her, but Diminishing Returns has proven itself many times...

mumuxx1234567890: I might do that! Thanks haha.

fgator5220: I'll take a look once I work through this terrible backlog of decks to review, lol!
