Introduction and Game Plan

Do you like swarming your opponents with little golden snitches? Ever wanted to draw lots of cards? Love artifact synergies? The this may be the deck for you!

After many iterations of artifact decks, I had always found that games where I draw Sai, Master Thopterist or Efficient Construction always went in fun and interesting directions. So what the heck?! Make them the headline act!

Our base plan for this deck is to get our commander out post haste and then start slinging out artifacts and getting additional value through Sai's cast triggers. There are some high synergy cards along the way!

Synergies and Play Lines

Our highest value synergies come from cards that interact with Artifact entering the battlefield triggers. Sword of the Meek comes back from our graveyard every time Sai triggers, which we can then get extra value off with Sai's or any other of our sacrifice outlets in the deck. Arcbound Crusher gets bigger twice as fast with Sai around.

We can get into value loops with Trading Post and our plentiful amounts of thopters which we can also use with Clock of Omens to re-buy activations of the Post.

Scared of an incoming board wipe? Hold up Kuldotha Forgemaster to fetch our protection permanents like Darksteel Forge or try and pair up Arcbound Ravager and Hangarback Walker to flood the board once the wrath effect resolves.

Ending The Game

This is all up to how you want to go about your game or playing around board states. Our most obvious line to victory is swarming the board with Sai and maybe even some help from Sharding Sphinx and overwhelm our opponents with value generated from our card draw engines such as Bident of Thassa and Coastal Piracy . Enemies aren't dropping down fast enough? Thrown in one of our many pump effects:

  • A majority of the fast mana rocks didn't make it into my list for the sole reason that i wanted the deck to conform more to a "75%" table. The deck would definitely benefit from these but possibly have it shoot too far ahead for other 75% decks to compete with.
  • Retrofitter Foundry : So far have found that it's either been too mana intensive to make additional thopters or turning your thopters into bigger ground men has been more of a hindrance than sped up the game.
  • Thopter Spy Network : Just turns out to be a worse Coastal Piracy in many cases
  • Phyrexian Metamorph : Never felt the need to have 2 of any specific artifact at any time
  • Mirage Mirror : See above

The easiest way to upgrade the deck straight away would be adding fast mana. Getting Sai down earlier and having mana positive artifacts to start generating thopters even sooner will put you miles ahead.

Along with these, Scrap Trawler can get into some pretty nutty loops when paired with Junk Diver and Myr Retriever .

Sensei's Divining Top is an amazing artifact that could easily fit into the deck. All about your personal preferences and how you like playing.

Feel free to cut any counterspells. I personally just like to protect my board once I have set myself up into a good position, but I definitely understand people not wanting to play with them. Many of the cards stated in the notable exclusions could find their way in here and would have many arguments to be valid.

If you want to have a spicy spite card in the mix, throw in a Hurkyl's Recall to reset one person into the stone age with mycosinth lattice
