My local meta is only semi-semi competitive. No infinite mana here, no Avenger of Zendikar. I made it the way I want it to be, with only a few concessions to metagame.

And yeah, it is fun. I have to wear shades to crack a fetchland.

Masumaro, First to Live or Multani, Maro-Sorcerer seem like they have the potential to be pretty great in here. What do you think? If you like the idea I can make suggestions as to what you might take out.

I like maro-style cards like that, but at 6 mana each they're pretty expensive and they share a CMC with my commander which is awkward. I appreciate it though

Seems like you should have no issue with ramp here. Especially with Multani's shroud; get him out turn 5 and Zegana turn 6 and easily draw yourself 20 cards. Then you still have a ridiculously huge creature with shroud.

"I have to wear shades to crack a fetch land." Bahahaha!!! Best. Line. Ever.

Also, well done on this! I dig the flavor and fun of this build!

Zegana is love, already got some edits to my list thanks to this. Seems like massive fun the table won't hate on. +1.

jeshwa you'd be surprised. I have to prepare to be assaulted from turn 1 when I bring zegana out. Everyone still has Prophet of Kruphix flashbacks.

Ha, my only problem was people tooling Extract and Sadistic Sacrament effects so it hindered choices in a way. Still really like the flavor, once I get to my shop and see what they have I'll edit my list some more!

Sorry for double post but how does this build play against Sen Triplets? To me they seem to eat zegana lists, I could be wrong, but would love to hear results.

Doublepost is fine. I haven't really tested zegana against sen trips yet. I could see it being a problematic matchup though unless you hate the triplets off the board with Trygon Predator or something.

Would you consider adding Horizon Chimera?

June 8, 2016 8:28 p.m.

Steaditup says... #12

MenacingBunny I had Horizon Chimera in the original build of this deck. It never felt correct to play it. It's a beautiful card and it's a joy to play with but its impact feels too low and the body is too small. I appreciate the suggestion, though.

Would you ever consider Sphinx's Tutelage as an alternate win condition? You seem to draw enough here to kill people through it. Great deck as it is!!!

[user:podma101] I like sphinx toot. It's a nice tool against monocolor decks. I just think that there's better ways to capitalize on massive draw than conditional mill. I appreciate the feedback though!

Seems like a solid deck. I like the route you chose for this deck and the fact PSZ has so many deck options open to her

oops. how did that happen?

March 13, 2017 7:55 p.m.

Steaditup says... #21

Ornge glad you like it, but I'm inclined to believe that good resource income (card draw) is more potent than disruption. However (!) disruption is also important, hence my 5 counterspells.

Love the deck! You've inspired me to want to build Zegana. How do you feel about Endless Swarm and Eternal Dominion? They would be great win cons. Swarm is nasty because if planned correctly you will have many many cards in hand. Dominion is another win con since you take the best cards from your opponent.

Steaditup says... #23

Epic cards are risky. I like the suggestions but, between the two, I would only run Dominion, and I don't think I'll run either here. Zegana wants to win by out-valuing the table, and if I can't cast my spells, I can't get that value.

Makes sense. Hmm, then maybe Panharmonicon? I see you have plenty and plenty of ETB effect creatures and you mentioned you love Fathom Mage. If I'm not mistaken, I believe her evolve ability would trigger twice with pan on the field.

I haven't checked all of the history logs, but have you ever tried Woodland Bellower? I've had a lot of good luck with him in my zegana build. Always good for either a land, rec sage, or eternal witness.
