DarkHero: I do. And that's precisely why I don't run them as my commander. Doing what has already been done time and again is something I don't typically enjoy, and having played both Trostani and Rhys as a commander before this has shown me just how quickly you get hated out of the game. I play them both in here because of their inherent strength, of course, but I digress.

I didn't decide to build a token deck and then choose Karametra. Rather, I chose Karametra and decided to build a deck around her. I began with the obvious synergy of playing landfall creatures, and in following that path I realized I might as well add in a token strategy to accompany them, "them" being Rampaging Baloths , Emeria Angel , and Sporemound . I don't play too many "make some tokens" spells, but I do run a fairly large number of creatures. Obviously, these creatures trigger Karametra and allow me to ramp into my win-con cards (Craterhoof Behemoth , Avenger of Zendikar , Tooth and Nail etc) without me having to rely on straight ramp spells like Cultivate or Nature's Lore . Essentially, she gives me the best of both worlds.

One of the best parts about having Karametra as my commander is that she can allow me to win by commander damage when I need to. I purposefully play many permanents with high-color CMCs so that Karametra can become a 6/7 indestructible creature. In many games, this is what allows me to either stabilize or keep on pressure once things get into an "arms race" situation. And having her as a large creature makes Overwhelming Stampede a much more potent card in here than it would be if the commander had been either of the above-mentioned.

So yeah, that's why I run Karametra and not those two. I like being different, and like the versatility she can provide, and a don't like immediately being the target from everyone at the table. (I have my Sigarda deck for that...)

Wow i really like your deck and how you tied in token production and landfall like you have. I like the synnergy. I don't play commander but ill try to make some good suggestions tomorrow when i've had the chance to look at this more thoroughly and i'm curious why you run 100 cards in stead of 60? Is this to allow more lands in the deck for landfall purposes while still drawing a decent hand?

Also some of these cards might be good in my deck.:)

Commander decks require 100 cards.

99 cards in the deck, and one commander.

What he said! In commander, you have 100 cards as he mentioned, and you cannot have multiples of anything unless they are basic lands (or have a clause that says otherwise such as in Relentless Rats ). Thanks for the compliment! I've tried to make this deck highly synergistic while remaining powerful. I would avoid playing anything too high of a CMC from this deck in your modern deck, though. EDH generally has a slower format -- especially when not playing competitively. For competitive, I have my Sigarda deck.

Nice deck. Not sure if Nylea, God of the Hunt has a great impact on the game. She is still indestructible thou.

Since you rely on fat creatures and Karametra, God of Harvests ability to filter the deck and to deploy lands in battle fields i would try Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite + Living Plane combo, which would turn your mana into 3/3 creature and work as a one way Armageddon for you.

Maybe Kamahl, Fist of Krosa would work better than Nylea cuz of the Overwhelming Stampede of him and the protection against Board Sweep that he offers.

You can also go supernasty and use the combo Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite + Kamahl, Fist of Krosa as well.

One more thing, i guess that Druidic Satchel is a lame card. It works poorly. As long as you have that many ways to fill you Hit Points, i would suggest Sylvan Library or Knight of the Reliquary to filter our deck fast and pick the best lands on your deck even faster .

Btw don't know if you already refuted the idea of Serra Ascendant on your deck. It works great in any deck with white mana for obvious reason.

It would make a good synergy with Serra Ascendant + Soul Foundry eventualy and it is a Nasty first turn drop that unbalance the game faster than anything i ever saw. Well not as fast as a first turn:

  1. Forest
  2. Mana Crypt
  3. Sol Ring
  4. Oracle of Mul Daya
  5. Forest
  6. Rhys the Redeemed

Second turn:

  1. Mana Reflection

I have to second Wildsong's assessment of Druidic Satchel . I've been working on my first EDH deck recently and I went with G/W as my color choices. Got this in a precon commander deck and it seemed like a natural fit, but every game it shows up, it's fairly lackluster and I generally have better things to do with my mana. Bow of Nylea has a similar effect but doubles as an anthem that works even when you don't have the mana to sink. I've been contemplating swapping it out.

I have a similar problem with Vitu-Ghazi, the City-Tree . 4 mana for a 1/1 token is overpriced. I guess in this deck you have a much larger potential mana base than most decks will have so it provides a source of tokens even after fieldwipes, but it doesn't work for me.

I do have to say though, I love this deck and your original ideas. This makes Karametra, God of Harvests viable and cool looking.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I'll go into my responses to them with more detail once we are able to do things with suggestions. Until then, I just wanted to say thanks!

Alright so I'm new to edh but not magic. I would probably play the rock form of selesnya. I didn't see sigarda as a regular creature in your list, kitchen finks, brimaz king of oreskos, spike feeder for infinate life and counters with thune, reveillark might be good, linvala would be solid too. Scavenging ooze for graveyard hate, sylvan library. Armada wurm.

Hi Spooty,

How about Undiscovered Paradise? Would work nice with your landfall triggers and Primeval Bounty and would be nice once you can play 2 lands per turn.

Any planned changes to this with the upcoming BFZ-release? Oran-rief Hydra looks good, Emeria Shepherd even better.

Indigoindigo: I think my goal with this deck is going to be to split it into two.

The first will be a Rhys the Redeemed deck that is able to focus more on the token strategy and be a more "spike" level brew.

The second will continue to be a Karametra, God of Harvests deck. However, I think this new deck is going to be a bit more off the wall. I want to make a flavor deck. I want the entirety of the deck to revolve around plants, horticulture, and the earth. Mechanics like Landfall are still of perfect use in such a deck. But instead of running staples like Admonition Angel, the deck can run funny flavorful cards like Reap What Is Sown.

Thoughts?
