I'm a sucker for self-interaction and basically everything in this deck creates a token, all of which combos with Purphoros.

The only things that don't create tokens are spot removal and Boros Reckoner.

Any suggestions for mainboard or sideboard welcome!

After a bit more playtesting, I'll likely write up a guide on how I think this should be sideboarded.

Got knocked out in the second round of top 8, but learned a bit of what needs to change in the deck.

  • Swapped Rootborn Defenses for Boros Charm: Boros Charm just does more. While Defenses has the upside of populate, Charm has the upside of closing out a game, or protecting Elspeth in addition to your tokens.

  • Exchanged Iroas, God of Victory *list* for Boros Charm: Boros Charm does more than Iroas too. Iroas generally comes down and does nothing, but Boros Charm almost always has a use

  • Put two Devouring Light in the side to deal with threats like Obzedat who are otherwise nearly impossible to deal with.

  • Put a Hushwing Gryff in the board in place of Heliod, God of the Sun: Against MBD or BW Midrange, Hushwing Gryff can do a lot to shut down an otherwise lethal Gary, or force them to deal with it before Obzedat gets any value.
