Sideboard

Credit for the foundation of this deck goes to Tomer Abramovici from his article https://www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/budget-commander-the-gitrog-monster-50

I have tried some different things gleaned from other articles, as well as some homebrew goodness. This has been built with a budget-oriented slant (hence no Crucible of Worlds...yet), but it's now my main so I will be investing in it over the next few months. Please feel free to comment with any suggestions.

My version runs a little more aggressively with the help of Ob Nixilis, the Fallen and Avatar of Woe with a little stax via Herald of Leshrac (go ahead and sac your lands, their lands, who cares- he's not going anywhere soon). Squirrel Wrangler is in there for funsies, and when you're ready to combo out mid-game, whip out that Life from the Loam and go to town. These creatures are a little less-than-perfect with regard to synergy, but worth it for me since I don't like to rely on combo for my wincon.

Mainly, it just durdles while you drop/sac lands until you fill your hand with your preferred wincon. Plus, a 6/6 commander wearing Whispersilk Cloak can give you the win with 4 swings.

Updates Add

Took out Terravore and two of the non-basics that came in tapped and had cycle costs of 2 in favor of three more basics to bring the manabase to 50% to make it a little faster. This was based on playtesting and being manascrewed mid-game several times. The added basics have helped, as has the addition of Greenseeker
