Actually it's my first time going beyond 3 colors myself, so there is alot to learn I'm sure. My understanding of the rule is that the -1/-1 from Heartless Summoning is a state based effect and Wood Elves would never actually enter the battlefield to trigger his ability. I have flagged wood elves for possible cut, his advantage over Skyshroud claim is that at 3 CMC he can help me accelerate Jegantha by one turn. I might replace the Elves with a 2 cmc ramp instead.

That's great! My friend was incorrect in his application of Elesh Norn the other day and I will gladly share this with him haha!

Posting on here to say TDemers and I have been chatting a lot about this deck as we are both building it. My creature base may look slightly different but probably not too much (I'm gonna try Maelstrom Archangel, for example).
I might find a way to keep in Despark because I can see single target removal being a need in this deck -- whether it's a creature or hate/stax piece that's getting in the way.
Also a little concerned about going too heavy on Legendary spells, so I may skip Urza's Ruinous Blast -- it also may not wipe as effectively as we want; this is EDH so everyone plays a few legendaries.

Given the companion rule change announced today, I made some initial changes to the ramp package to open up the 3 CMC spot more reliably.

Those are all fair points. I don't really do more than 3 colors in my decks decks, too messy. You could have Fertile Ground replace Steve tho, since the Wood Elves at least fetch on ETB before dying. Hell, I don't see the Elves doing much work here other than as Vaevictis fodder, so it's a prime candidate for being replace by Skyshroud Claim.
