Can't build a dragon tribal without Crucible of Fire. To make the casting of dragons cheaper, I'd also recommend Dragonlord's Servant, Dragonspeaker Shaman, Urza's Incubator or Belbe's Portal. My dragon deck also uses Flameshadow Conjuring. Hope this helps; have fun!

NV_1980, thanks so much for the suggestions. A lot of those suggestions are in my maybelist, just trying to figure out where to make room! Flameshadow Conjuring looks sweet! I'll look into getting a copy

Liscom, added Sarkhan to the maybelist :) thanks!

NV_1980, do you have a link to your dragon deck? I don't see it listed under your decks

It might be worth it to consider running Amulet of Vigor here. Also Enlightened Tutor as a means to find it, or any of your other good enchantments/artifacts present.

Looks like an awesome list though so far, thank you for giving me the ideas of Skarrg, the Rage Pits and Kessig Wolf Run for my own The Ur-Dragon list I am just starting to build now.

Oh and might I suggest adding Chromatic Lantern, Prismatic Omen, and Cascading Cataracts to this.

I'm actually quite annoyed neither of those first two suggestions of mine were included in this precon.

Delta-117, thanks for your suggestions. Chromatic Lantern is already on my list (and I agree that it's annoying that it isn't in the precon). I'll throw in Cascading Cataracts...hadn't thought of that! Prismatic Omen I totally would...but I don't own one and it is a little pricey.

What leads you to suggest Amulet of Vigor? Because of the tapped "tri-lands"? Just trying to understand your reasoning.

thanks again for the feedback!

one lesser known way to make your drakes cheaper is Planar Gate - but at least in my country a buyout pushed it over 50 recently (thank goodness I was quicker). Check out if you can still get it cheap where you are.Beastcaller Savant is also a cheap and nice way. Considering lands, there was a new tri-land in the new Planeswalker Deck of Nicol Bolas. Maybe get a hold of it.

MegaMatt13, I'm still in the progress of putting up all the decks my wife and I own on tappedout. It's a bit of a slow process because of being busy and stuff; I've posted 11 now, still 32 commander decks to go ... I'll let you know as soon as the dragon deck is posted.

Id say you are in dire need of removal. Id eliminate alot of the double strike and pillow fort effects. Focus more on getting the dragons out fast and reliably, also draw power, and like i said before some removal or maybe counters instead to stop removal and boardwipes that head your way. They already hit like trucks. Dont really need to beef em up.

NV_1980: A total of 43 commander decks? oh my! you make my addiction seem reasonable hehe

Revenantmike: Really appreciate the feeback. I agree that the deck is lacking in removal. the card draw is decent but could be increased a bit too. The double strike, extra combat, and pillow fort effects were my attempt to make the deck a little bit more unique than just swinging with dragons. However, I agree that may not be necessary. If you had to choose between keeping double strike or extra combat...which would you keep? Any card draw suggestions you can think of?

Liscom, yeah Planar Gate is just too far out of my price range. Also, since my commander gives me a cost reduction from my command zone...i'm not actually sure how many more cost reduction effects I need. The deck runs quite a lot of ramp and cards like Elvish Piper and Selvala's Stampede which cheat stuff into play. I'll think about other cost reduction cards though! Thanks

Well for card draw luckily you are in five colors. I prefer stuff like Phyrexian Arena, Staff of Nin, and Mind's Eye, they arent too overpriced and do a decent job. Id go with extra attack phases if i had to keep one of those. I like the stuff that makes your dragons hexproof too id just keep that and ramp my dragons to hell. Add in Anguished Unmaking and Utter End maybe some counters to prevent board wipes nd id call it good. If u wanna do double strike or anthem effects id add in True Conviction and things like Akroma's Memorial and Eldrazi Monument.im personally thinking of adding in Dragonstorm and the worldgorger combo along with things like Purphoros, God of the Forge

I am curious as to why you aren't running Scourge of Valkas? It has fantastic synergy with Utvara Hellkite, Dragon Broodmother, and Dragon Tempest. Personally I would have it replaceNiv-Mizzet, Dracogenius, because it offers far more ability damage, and it's cheaper. The only drawback(get it?:P)is you don't get the card advantage he offers, but you still have several other options available to you for that already, so its not hurting you very much in that regard.

August 17, 2017 4:10 p.m.

MegaMatt13 says... #15

HungryWampa, Scourge of Valkas isn't in the deck right now because I'm not sure how much damage he would actually do with his ETB. I don't envision my opponents allowing me to have many dragons on the battlefield at once. I agree Niv-Mizzet is one of the weaker dragons though. I've kept him so far simply for the card draw but he's on the chopping block. I'll put Scourge of Valkas on my maybe list. Thanks for the feedback :)

Revenantmike, Anguished Unmaking was already in there but I've added Utter End. Thanks for that suggestion! I'm not sure about the anthem effects. Eldrazi Monument is fantastic in token decks. I don't like the idea of sacrificing a 6-mana dragon every upkeep though. True Conviction could be good though. The double strike and lifelink make a potent combo. Of the card draw options you suggested, I really like Phyrexian Arena. Low casting cost and accrues value over time. Since it's a creature based deck, I'm thinking more creature-based draw spells could be good. Thanks again :)

yes i forgot bout the sacrifice part of Eldrazi Monument. Perhaps adding something like Avacyn, Angel of Hope instead. Umm as for draw i forgot to mention Rhystic Study. Also a dragon wheel effect may be good with Dragon Mage. Im plannin on building ur dragon as well. When i get a list made ill link it. Might give ya some ideas.

Revenantmike, I like the suggestion of Rhystic Study. It slows opponents down too which is what this deck wants.

Kindred Dominance wouldn't be bad for another board wipe

KylerStar says... #19

If card draw is in question, Skyline Despot may be worth looking into. Though may under preform, depending on your play group, as the monarchy can be taken from you. Though, if they attack you, it procs O-Kagachi, Vengeful Kami.

August 20, 2017 5:19 p.m.

MegaMatt13 says... #20

jamindragons, I considered it. My deck is high CMC as it is with all the dragons. I wanted my boardwipes to be relatively cheap. That's why I've stuck with Toxic Deluge and Crux of Fate. Thanks for the suggestion!

KylerStar, I've played Skyline Despot in other decks and my experience is that it encourages people to attack me. I rarely got much card draw/tokens out of it. Appreciate the feedback.

High cost dragons decks really like Cryptic Gateway. Maybe yours has a spot for it?

TheRedGoat says... #22

I figure you're limited by your collection, but you'll want less of the dragonlords and more of the fate reforged versions if you want really good tribal synergy. Otherwise you're really just running a goodstuff dragons build.

Though however you build I can safely recommend Celestial Dawn as one of many things you can use to instantly be color fixed. Joiner Adept works too.

August 23, 2017 12:24 a.m.

MegaMatt13 says... #23

TheRedGoat, thanks for those fixing options. I had forgotten about Celestial Dawn and had never heard of Joiner Adept! I'll look into them. In terms of the fate reforged dragons, I believe I'm only missing Silumgar, the Drifting Death and Ojutai, Soul of Winter. I've considered Silumgar as he effectively counts as a removal spell. I'm not sure about Ojutai though. Is 7 mana for a creature that taps things down worth it? I already have more 7-drops than I really want. What are your thoughts on Silumgar and Ojutai?

Etoilebane, I could see Cryptic Gateway being a great tribal card in a "go-wide" strategy. I'm not sure about it in here though. How often will I have two dragons I want to tap down (as opposed to attacking)? Appreciate the suggestion.

August 23, 2017 10:48 a.m.

Rabid_Wombat says... #24

Ojutai, Soul of Winter is most definitely worth it- I lost a game yesterday due to the dragonbird tapping out all of my draconic defenders...hella annoying.

I'd choose Quicksilver Amulet over Cryptic Gateway...like you said already- tapping down dragons is not the best way to play aggro.
