This deck Could use Altar's Reap instead of Sign in Blood . I think it works better with your strategy.Pretty good stuff.

Thanks STIKY55 seems worthy of some testing the version on here is different then what I'm running at the moment just haven't had time to change it, went 3-1 for standard league today though :D

I actively dislike High Priest of Penance in this build. In your description of you have "To make it incredible awkward for them to attack." You shouldn't care if there attacking you in the early turns as you should just be hitting back harder and faster. I'd drop this and round out your play set of Tormented Hero 's. Having the full 12 one drops feels better then 1/1's for 2 that don't attack well.
I'm also not a huge fan of you non-creature spells. Here are my suggestions.
1x Obelisk of Urd : I really don't like this in the deck. You really don't want to take a turn off to play this, and at earliest you're probably casting this turn 4. Taking all of turn 4 of to play this gives your opponent plenty of time to remove your threats making it subpar at best. I would suggest cutting it for another Spear of Heliod .
1x Spear of Heliod : Good solid anthem. Add one more and move on :)
2x Devouring Light : I've never been a fan or this card. Tapping creatures to kill something means you're not attacking. Not attacking is bad. I would look to replace these with 2x Bile Blight . Good removal that can punish Pack Rat , which seems to be a card you're weak to.
2x Hero's Downfall : Yeah it's a good card. Nothing to see here
2x Gods Willing : Protection is good but too much protection is bad. It's better to just have more threats/answers. I'd round out your playset of Pain Seer and add in a third Bile Blight . One thing to remember is you don't always mind your creatures dying (it can even be advantageous).
2x Ajani's Presence : I like it! Good call. You could also consider Ephemeral Shields .
2x Return to the Ranks : Cool synergy is cool! This is an awesome card, but meta dependent. It's good against red, control, and mono black, but poor against Midrange, mono blue, and G/W aggro. Depending on you're meta you could just round out the playset of Thoughtseize
2x Thoughtsieze: Yeah it's quite good. If anything you could play more!
Hope this helps! I'm sorry if this came across as rude, just trying to be constructive. It's a neat deck.

RedSoxFanKy has some great suggestions. I am interested in the thought proccess behind your sideboard, since their seem to be alot of new or unusual cards there.

well STIKY55, Hushwing Gryff when cast in response to Master of Waves or Gray Merchant of Asphodel causes their abilities to not trigger, shutting down mono blue and mono black somewhat it also shuts down Obzedat, Ghost Council from slowly winning games, Phyrexian Revoker is a Pithing Needle that can swing for 2 which is good for my aggressive deck scheme, and Renounce the Guilds is one of my few answers other then Celestial Flare to Blood Baron of Vizkopa which has protection from my entire deck.

I play a similar deck but focusing more on the impact on Return to the Ranks and using humans as a subtype. I mess around with the synergies of Cartel Aristocrat , Xathrid Necromancer and return to the ranks. Another subtheme i play is lifegain. Path of Bravery gives a great anthem effect. Along with a playset of Soulmender it serves double duty as a human and life gainer for Path of Bravery . Focusing on Return to the Ranks can be especially helpful against Supreme Verdict . Ive also found that life gain is really good in an aggro deck and against burn. Take this into account

BUG23 it's something to consider but I like my one drops swinging in for damage early to apply pressure as quickly as possible. I'm considering putting in Willing to add life gain after sideboard for the mono red matchup though.

my bad RedSoxFanKy I haven't changed the list on here yet but high priest of penance has in fact been removed, obelisk also has been removed, devouring light got replaced with altar's reap because of the instant speed card draw and synergy with necromancer, athreos, and return to the ranks, i now run two imposing sovereign main and one in the side, bile blight is something I've been considering but i like having straight removal better, I see some advantages but other then pack rat [which only one person plays in my meta] downfall seems better in most situations from my experiences. I'd like to keep the gods willings' in because it protects from detention sphere and banishing light and the scry is a nice touch since i don't run any temples for obvious reasons. I also think ajani's presence is better then ephemeral shields because it gets the pump and the strive makes a huge difference, it has saved me so many times in the grindy-er games. As for return to the ranks, it has proven to be huge tonight at my monday night magic league for example against control after the turn 4 verdict i was holding one brought back my stuff, drew into one two turns later following another verdict and won as a result. Also, late game with athreos out when people choose to put certain creatures in the graveyard and let others come back to my hand, bringing them back and swinging for game has happened a few times. Finally, same case scenario I replay the creatures that are returned to my hand, and then with the extra mana and the creatures themselves I just convoke with them since they cannot attack anyway and near double my board state. I like my two thoughtseizes I have 4 i just don't know what to bring out for them quite honestly. Thank you for taking the time to make such an in depth comment I honestly just forgot about it because I've been busy the last few days and have not had the time to type back a response to cover everything.

just wondering, what's your game plan against hexproof decks; my meta has too many of these....

zenny123 my meta does not fortunately, but anything that destroys non creature permanents such as High Priest of Penance or Bramblecrush or Vraska the Unseen s minus ability, makes opponents sacrifice creatures Celestial Flare Devour Flesh , or cards with global effects such as Supreme Verdict are the best way to go. usually going after the auras instead of the creatures is the best bet. hope this helps!

great, thanks for the tip; I was wondering if you ever considered Agent of the Fates , been playing him (with the hexproof and all rampant); what do you think?
August 14, 2014 2:23 a.m.
btw Pithing Needle is better until rotation comes around because Phyrexian Revoker can't name lands so opponents can still play their Underworld Connections
August 14, 2014 3:03 p.m.
EnigmaEthos says... #20
they can play them but not use them zenny123, i would use agent of the fates but i don't really have much to trigger his heroic, also the double black in the casting cost could be a problem thanks for the suggestion though. I was considering Glimpse the Sun God as a finisher spell what do you think about that?
August 14, 2014 7:13 p.m.
the activated ability comes from the land not the Underworld Connections card itself so it wouldn't stop them from using it even if you call it with Phyrexian Revoker , had the same problem at my local card shop too since the guy didn't realize the nonland part of revoker.
Glimpse the Sun God is meh, seems tacked on and situational; might be a card(s) that'll just sit in my hand the whole game but it's up to you.

for my deck it would be the turn 4-6 tap down my opponents board and swing for lethal ideally zenny123
August 15, 2014 2:03 p.m.
yeah if it works then use it, I never play-tested it so I wouldn't know how well it holds up so tell me how you do with it.

Have you considered Blind Obedience instead of Imposing Sovereign ? I know it's all about Humans, but as a sideboard card it won't make a difference. Blind Obedience has the same effect, but has extort on top of it, which is great considering all of the low drops. Late game the extort will either kill them, or chip away annoyingly at your opponent.
