The Warmachine - Heron's Glory, Strength in Steel

Commander / EDH Artifact Competitive GW (Selesnya) Multiplayer Voltron

"Great devotion yields great reward."

The best of the best, the Heron is a natural fit for voltron style decks. 5/5 flying for 5 by itself is decent, but it's her abilities that make her shine. With hexproof and immunity to edict effects, Sigarda dominates when holding good steel.

"Truth is a straight, keen edge. To fight for truth, we must forge in steel."

Etched Champion, Puresteel Paladin, Kemba, Kha Regent, Eight-and-a-Half-Tails

But Sig isn't the only one made for holding a sword. Creatures that synergize well with equipments and artifacts have their place here, to hold the line when the Heron is abent.

"Give me a sword and I'll kill a few enemies. But give me a hammer and a fiery forge, and I'll turn the tide of battle"

Stoneforge Mystic, Steelshaper's Gift, Stonehewer Giant

These guys are small, and they're hard to find, but they provide the consistency that oils the gears. Being able to tutor for any equipment bomb (and in SFM's case, cast it for free), is a powerful effect that shouldn't be overlooked.

"No spot in nature is truly barren."

Kodama's Reach, Green Sun's Zenith, Dryad Arbor, Wood Elves, Farhaven Elf, Sol Ring, Mana Vault, Search for Tomorrow, Sakura-Tribe Elder, Caged Sun

All decks need mana, and Sig is no exception. Always hungry for mana to power those equip activations, I run a ton of mana ramping. Speed is key; a slow angel is a dead angel.

"When all is taken away, all are equal."

Day of Judgment, Divine Reckoning , Terminus , Austere Command

Sometimes when you need to turn the tide it doesn't hurt to just kill everything. Board sweepers help even the tables, especially against swarm and token type decks, which this deck is prone to.

Helpful advice is always appreciated, and all comments are welcome. My budget can include all cards under $30. But please, when making suggestions, please leave out any and all aura suggestions. This deck is pure equipment voltron, to maximize the effectiveness and support for equipment.

My meta is usually huge games of 4+ people, playing casually/competitively. As a result, this deck has multiplayer in mind, but ideally should be able to shine in 1v1 as well. Help me make the best voltron there ever was!

The cards in my maybeboard are ones I have decided to add, but don't currently have. If you'd like to trade, take a look at my binder right here. Thanks!

Updates Add

Whew...I haven't updated this deck in awhile! I've since been busy and have built other decks for fun, but I can never forget about this one. So I've decided to do a long-needed updated of the deck!

For now, Elvish Visionary and Yavimaya Elder are Puresteel Paladin and Kemba, Kha Regent. I don't have their actual copies, so I'll have to make do for now.

A recent discussion about Voltron decks has led me to question whether or not I should change Sigarda for Derevi, Empyrial Tactician as commander. Having blue would really help, and Derevi does not care how many times she has died, making her a very good voltron general. The main issues are: do I have enough slots in the deck to be running the counterspells/other cards I would want to that blue provides; and is it really worth it to entirely change the deck's mana base (which would likely involve a higher monetary cost)? Discuss.

But as for Sigarda as she is, I'm slowly making the deck more white-focused, to take advantage of cards like Caged Sun for ramp, instead of green's ramp. I plan to add more white cards and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx if I hit that critical mass of white things in this deck.

Any thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
