Instead of Shatterstorm, try out Hurkyl's Recall. Much cheaper and at instant speed.

Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest is a pretty good card. I think it would be good with Restoration Angel saying as it is flying. If you're just looking for instant double strike, I would recommend Double Cleave or Temur Battle Rage.

Conwal please provide reasoning behind your suggestions.

Why were you thinking about adding Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest?

March 4, 2015 6:59 p.m.

Conwal for testing purposes. This isn't a competitive deck, but even when I brew I brew to play decks that win. I'm still contemplating on Shu Yun, but the more I play the deck as it, the less I am inclined to follow through.

Ok. I'm kinda not big into modern but I try to do my best. Maybe Savage Beating. I think it's a very powerful card for your prowess tokens.

Maybe you will like the new edition cards Ojutai's Command or Narset Transcendent in the place of Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest

I have playtested this deck several times and I always have trouble with my red mana base, especially with the starting hand as most of your 1 mana drops require red mana. Maybe you should tweak it a little?

Btw, have you considered Delver of secrets? with your amount of instants a one mana drop that turns into a 3/2 flying would be pretty potent.

If your not feeling certain about using Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest perhaps you could try running a copy of Vendilion Clique at the 3 mana mark instead although it does not have prowess or the ability to grant double strike it does give some hand disruption and a creature with flying that can start working to attack your opponent.

DTK is a thing now, and we get a cool card from it:

The wonders of Myth Realized!

  • It's a self-scaling creature. On a stale turn, you can just activate its ability and buff it up.

  • We're going to be casting around 2-4 spells each turn, so this is going to get really big.

  • Most of the time, it's an enchantment. So, it's semi-good at evading removal.

Consider. Thoughts?

Myth Realized is fun in a deck like this. My one concern would be that it would die to removal or deathtouch as soon as it becomes a threat. Probably not as much of an issue in this deck since it can counter removal and burn most deathtouchers... but if someone has a fat-ass deathtoucher like Ukud Cobra that would be annoying.

Still, in this deck it would quickly become a huge fatty that you've probably only paid one for, so that's pretty awesome. In most situations it feels like it would do quite well and be relevant the whole game.

Monastery Mentor would be pretty sweat in here. With all of the instants/sorceries, you will be able to gain a massive amount of tokens with prowess. I feel like it could add extra heat to the board state for the opponent.

"Cool deck bruh."

No, but seriously, I like the inclusion of Reality Shift. It gives you removal in every colour and removal is one thing blue dearly lacks.

I would also like to second the idea of Myth Realized. As previously stated, it's a hard creature to kill because it's not always a creature. It's ability can be activated on opponents end steps to buff if you weren't doing anything on that turn. It can very quickly and easily get very big and easily maintained with counter magic. And if it is destroyed, it was a 1 mana investment, so it's not necessarily a big deal. I see advantages and disadvantages between playing it and Monastery Swiftspear, but I think it would be a very good card to test out in that slot.

It's good to see someone playing some good old tempo just for the fun of it.
